Ok I want to know if i'm the only weird one out here? RE: WOJ or any Angel stamps
These stamps that have kids and angel wings on them just creep me out.
Am I the only one??
I love WOJ stamps and actually have quite a few but not of the guardian angel series, they scare me especially as a parent whewww!
O MY..please don't think i'm bashing but I am curious about it. Some people I know of don't like clown stamps but for me it's Angel kids..
Mandy
Whoa! I feel the same way about the kids with angel wings but would never say anything out loud for fear of bashing! I get creeped out by them as well. I'm not fond of kids dressed as brides and grooms either - just a little odd to me.

I used to really like Magnolia stamps -- until I realized that the kids had wings! I'm not sure if all of them do, but it bugs me too. And, no mouth. Hmmmmm... too odd.
YAY! So far i'm not the only one.LOL!
That's funny about the Magnolia stamps I have just one stamp (no angel wings) that I used on a little girls birthday card and the birthday girl drew a mouth on the image. LOL! I always thought they looked like cute Hippos.LOL!
but I do like them they're fun to color
ok you may think I am weird! I see all children as little angels so, no, this actually looks really normal to me! I think, no I know, they lose their wings at 13. Man, those teen years!

I agree. Kids are little angels and your right, 13, they lose their wings and grow HORNS! Hopefully they never come out with stamps that have horns. That would freak me!
Not only do kids with angel wings creep me out, but angels in general are creepy to me. Go figure! Born and raised a Roman Catholic, but angels give me the creeps.
I don't understand the kids with crowns on either.... I see stamps in Stampers Sampler that I just don't understand (don't buy the magazine anymore either, except for Take Ten issues!). It's probably that they're so artsy I don't get them or something... But they're kinda scary - and I agree - don't like kids with wings.

I love the image of the WOJ confirmation angel. When I get her, though, I intend to cut her out and layer her on cards, so the wings will be gone. LOL!
I don't think the newer Magnolias have wings. As far as them having no mouths, I sometimes use the face on their little fairy stamp to stamp a mouth on them.

Love the face on your girl! Now that looks normal to me! Maybe the mouth is left off for stampers to add their own expression? The no headed stamp weirds me out too, and as a stamper, if I don't get it what is someone going to say if I should give them a card with a body and neck, but no head? Ok, with a sun hat, yes; or with the awning covering the head at the cafe, yes, but the walking the dog, you have a body, neck and then space? In no way do I want to offend anyone who does stamp with these, I have seen some awesome cards and coloring, it is my own feeling, that it looks strange I guess.
so why are they creepy? maybe i'm not looking at them right. is it because they are reminiscent of a child that has passed away? if so, then if i start seeing it that way, then i may be a little weirded out. i'm with soozie4him (another susan--yay!) that all the artsy fartsy stuff with weird crowns, angel wings and bird heads---that's your basic creepy!!
Haven't you heard about that new line -- 'The Cloven-Hoof Kidz'?!
(Okay, so I made that up... :mrgreen
this made me think of that creepy hall and oates song---maneater!! "they only come out at night..oh oh here she comes, she's a maneater!" ok, so it's getting late and i'm tired.

Susan - I also have 3 girls! But they all grew up and moved out! We're blessed to have them all living less than an hour away, though! And we have one granddaughter and another grandbaby on the way!

I'm not into wings on people/kids at all. I've noticed on quite a few sb products and online layouts at other sites that people are taking photos of their kids and putting embellishment wings (stamped or die cut) on the back of their kids and I just don't "get" it...don't like it...but I guess different strokes for different folks kind of thing...not for me tho!

this made me lol. I took art classes in school - back in the 70's - and alot of them were "surreal" things that we had to come up with - now it is "artsy fartsy". It isn't weird to me but takes me back a few years.
my style now is anything from folk art to surreal and everything in between - I just like to create.... it's a great way to relieve stress by letting your art take on your emotions at the moment. :-D
Great thread, glad to know I'm not alone...I was actually browsing a few sites and probably would have bought, but like so many, the wings put me off. The images are gorgeous, and I will likely buy some in the future, but I can't imagine using the image complete with wings. I'm sure I will either cut the image out (without wings), or avoid inking up the wings.
For now, since my wishlist is sooooooooooo long, the winged children will have to wait.
PS. *love* the Magnolia image with the mouth. It makes Tilda look not quite so sad, KWIM?

for me - that's exactly what it is. my step-sister-in-law had a baby who died at 2 wks old and her mom (my step-MIL) went out & bought a garden angel & called it after her (she would tell the 3 yr-old sister "that's Paige in the garden" I guess it was their way to help her deal with it? It made angels (esp kids/babies represented that way) creepy to me. so my answer is - I don't care for the images either.
There are certain stamp lines I HATE, but could never say out loud either for fear of bashing. I figure somebody likes them, but I cringe when I see them lol
