We have a thread on there, that we have tons of stuff, but we're still a sucker for... Let's go the other way, see how our styles have changed; what items are you passing up:
I have tons of stuff, but I'm no longer a sucker for:
Paper stacks
Embellishments
Cheaply-made stamps
Stickers
Sale/clearance items (this includes some items I've already listed)
Chipboard
Kits
Gel pens
I'm still working on my last years's motto --- heck, I'll make it my ongoing motto of: Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
So I'm purging, purging, purging... Finally finding a place for everything, and finally am able to find something where it's supposed to be!
This doesn't mean I'm not buying the items I love - it means that I am ONLY buying items that I love.

Caution: You are entering an artistic zone. This is not clutter - this is creating. These are not pajamas - it's my work uniform.
The tiny $1 clear stamp sets at Michaels (but I still love their $1 rubber stamps)
12x12 paper stacks (only because I've discovered the joys of the 4x6 ones)
Random embellishments & supplies from the dollar store (I'll still shop there, but only for something specific I need)
Where I've changed the most is less impulse buying in general. Instead of heading off to Michael's or Joann's or the lss, I'll go online and make lists and shop less often but for bigger-ticket items.

definitely the impulse buys for me! I seem to analyze whether I "really" need it. My shopping has gone way down.. But not for nesties, and copics....;-)
Since I started coming to SCS right from the start, thanks to good advice and some threads like this one, I was able to avoid a lot of pitfalls! And I came into stamping after some of the trends, like stickers -- a lot of people mention having collected too many stickers!
Of course, there are still things I've needed to rein myself in on:
Paper: Now that I know what I like, I won't let just any old paper pad turn my head. But if I like every design in it, I might just buy two. More discriminating, I guess ;^) .
Buttons: I'm sure I'll check out the new Amuse buttons, but seriously, I have enough to probably last the rest of my life. That's too many buttons people!!! Time to let my daughter make button necklaces with her friends, or for her dolls.
Nestabilities: I know this probably isn't on many lists. I don't have them all but I have a nice selection, and I will not be sucked in to every gorgeous shape. It may be a good long time before something WOWs me with Nesties, and that's okay.
Punches: I've gradually sold a lot of my punches and mostly just use the smaller ones now -- ticket corner, slot, 3/4" circle, notepaper edge, etc. My Nesties cover the basic shapes, and punches (even the new flat ones) just take up too much space. I'll hang onto a few basics for quick circles/squares, but will get dies instead for anything else. Plus, I've had several punches not work well and who has time for that?
That's all that comes to mind right now. I agree with the others that impulse buying is a big no-no. I don't live near stores so that's a good thing. And if I shop online, I'll usually take days to make a final decision.
Paper Stacks. I know what I like now (SU). Ribbons. I have hundreds of rolls of ribbons. When I found a style I liked, I would buy it in several different colors. Why oh why?
I agree with a lot that's been said. I've also purged a lot of this stuff. I haven't bought any of the cheap paper from Michael's or JoAnns in a long time. I never realized how bad that paper was until I started buying paper from SU.
Looking at some of my first cards I gotta say, the stickers I used on my cards made them look really cheap and tacky. They also look very childish and not in a good, cute way. I kept a few of the nicer quality stickers and some that I really like but the rest got purged.
I used to be quite bad about buying inexpensive (cheap) stuff. I thought the more the better. Ive since decided that Id rather have quality instead of quantity. Bad stamps make poor images or else they can be hard to work with to get good images.
I must have bought over 20 album kits just because they were on sale. I purged these too. I kept a few of them but most of them I got rid of.
Im doing much better now. I try to stay out of stores and I dont feel like I have to use every coupon I get. Although I do have a challenge with not using coupons sometimes.
Eyelets and Brads - I seriously can't remember the last time I used them on a card. I use to buy them all the time and now I just have a stock pile that I never use.
Nancy - I agree with you on the Nestabilities! I came late to that party, but quickly accumulated most of the basic shapes. But all the different label shapes, I just don't need! Now when they have a new release, if there's a new circle or oval variation that works with the sets I already have, I'll probably get those, but I just don't need 20 different label shapes.
Rubber stamps. I gravitate towards clear now. If I'm looking at rubber stamps, I have to constantly remind myself that they are not clear and could I still easily use them in the way that I envisioned. (I don't like using stamp positioners or masking)
Now of COURSE if an image (like the Magnolias/Tildas) only comes in rubber and I want it, I'll still buy it.
Ditto pretty much what was said above. I'm much more selective over the supplies I buy. I'd rather buy less more expensive items than lots of "cheap" ones.
I have TONS of the little $1 clear stamps from Micheals....Most of them are way too small for card making IMO. I haven't bought any in years for that reason.
Someone mentioned above about the white cored cardstock. I actually LOVE it....I use it all the time when I emboss with my Cuttlebug folders. I love to use it and lightly sand the top layer to reveal the core. I actually bought several of the DCWV stacks just for that reason.
Rub-ons (ugh...they make look cute, but I know that I don't like using them!)
Stickers (same as above)
Shopping trips at places like Michael's, JoAnn's, and Hobby Lobby. I seriously do not go to these places, then I'm not tempted for a cheap fix. I can save my money for the online companies that I really love.
Stamping magazines...I get so much more inspiration right here for free. If I need a fix, I go to the public library and read them.
Inks in every style and color. Seriously, will the recipient know if I used distress inks? Doubtful!
I'm sure there are more, but I've been purging for a while and now only buy what I need or love.
I haven't bought any eyelets or brads in awhile as I have a lifetimes worth. Ribbon, I have a ton, so it would have to be really spectaular for me to buy it.
But I do LOVE my white core paper. I use it in my cuttlebug and sand it and I love that look. It is an easy way to make a fun fast cardfront.
COUPONS - Just because the stores send me a coupon, that doesn't mean I have to go and find something to buy just to get 40% off. Seriously, I would spend hours walking around just trying to find an item that wasn't on sale already and that I would actually use. Now if I don't need a specific item, I'm not going to the store.
I no longer buy stamps just because I think they are cute, and then find out that I can only use them for one style of card. I like to get stamps that I can use for different things ex: birthday, sympathy, etc. I also don't buy DP anymore, I can never figure out if it goes well with an image and there have been times that I use it and get the card together only to see that it makes the card look cheap, I have several background stamps and stamps that can be used to make a nice background design and I use those instead, this way I know what colors to cordinate with the images.

I so hear ya! Those darn M's coupons were the death of me! I felt compelled to use them all. So, now unless I really need something, I just recycle them.
Colored Embossing powders and glitters. Couldn't even begin to tell you the last time I used those (or the powder pals that go with them)...
Now, nesties... that's another story completely. I had been away from M's for months (new career, new job after four years in school), and was OVER coupons, until I heard that they had nesties now. I have to admit, I've used 7 or 8 coupons in the last two weeks... ugh. At least it is in my budget now, there is that...
For me stamps in general. I don't use the ones I have, that I HAD to have. I'm on a tight budget, so I can't make myself pay the prices anymore. I am very selective on what stamps I buy now.
I'm the opposite on the paper stacks, I love them. I do have to love/like most of the paper in it before I will buy it. I love DP from everyone, I'm an equal opportunity buyer of paper. lol
paper stacks
dry adhesives that won't work (ATG all the way now)
embellishments
brads
eyelets
ribbon
I think that covers just about all of it. I'm trying to not buy stuff, although I did just buy another 40 copics and a dozen stamps, but those are "core" items that I NEED.

I have to agree with alot that has already been said, as a new crafter I just wanted to buy buy buy, now as a seasoned crafter/stamper I look for quality product which includes waiting for reviews on new tools etc.

Mine doesn't have nesties! :(
I'm over cupcake stamps! And many of the things listed here. I very very very rarely get any of the $1 stamps. Completely over eyelets and primas. I don't use a coupon just because I have one either.

 WOW, I thought I was the only one..........:(
Lovin this thread! I am no longer a sucker for cheap cardstock -- PTI has shown me the light! Also Cuttlebug dies -- the images are too small for my liking and my PTI and Nestie dies get used with every card!
I'm over brads and eyelets.
I'm over Cricut carts. I have the only 7 that I want or need. The other stuff I can make on my MTC software if I want to.
I have enough stamps, rubber and clear.
Shoot I have enough of everything.
I actually went into Michaels the other day with a 40 percent coupon and came out with nothing. And if our Michaels sold nesties, I would have purchased something. But they don't, so I didn't.

12x12 Paper Stacks
Anything I can make with any of my die cutters.
I want high end art supplies. I think I am over punches. I used to love punches but now I like to design my own borders, etc... I still rely on my shape punches for centering images. I am "blah" about border punches.
I think I am over my Cricut or I am close to getting there. I can design my own work.
I remember when I got into paper crafting five years ago I bought a Wishblade so I could combine my digital work with paper. Back then this was called a big No-No, lol. Now, we call it hybrid.
I bought a Cricut because there really wasn't any help with the Wishblade. Mastered the Cricut. Silhouette became more popular so learned how to master the Wishblade. Bought a Silhouette and BossKut Gazelle.
I feel like I am going back to the orignal concept of what I wanted to do in the first place, lol. It does make me happy. I have learned so much about the die cutting indusry and really enjoyed it. All the things I was interested in I am interested again. I could care less about the other things, lol.
Great thread!
My list is long: single sided patterned paper, paper stacks, eyelets, brads, chipboard, ribbon, fibers (I like those things but I have way too much), a few brands I won't mention by name, post bound albums (only 3-ring for me), kits with lots of stickers or diecuts, rub ons and stickers of any sort. And, believe it or not, I am learning to pass up gadgets and tools!
