I was dying to try the shaving foam method today and bought a cheap can of Barbosol and the stuff is driving me out of my stamp room. Tried DH's and couldn't handle it (don't seem to notice it so bad on him though!) Is there any brand at there that does NOT smell. I really want to do this. Thanks!
I've always used the Colgate shaving cream, I think it smells good and the smell in my opinion isn't that strong. I am not sure of any unscented, but there is bound to be some out there, wouldn't you think? :?
I have bought lots of shaving cream and have never found the unscented. However, I agree the Colgate brand is not as strong of a smell as other brands I have tried.
The very first thing my upline told me ab. the shaving cream technique is to ALWAYS use a shaving cream that you like the smell of. At first I thought she was crazy, but after using the cheapest (prob. Barbasol) stuff - I am totally convinced. The smell lasts FOREVER - so you might as well use something you like the smell of. I've looked EVERYWHERE for unscented but have never found it so if someone does - YOU MUST POST
Actually, I found that the smell faded!!! It did NOT last forever!
I bought some cheap stuff, couldn't find anything unscented, haha, I just looked, it's the Colgate with aloe. Must be a good cheap brand.
Anyway, I usually make four backgrounds with shaving cream when I get it out, and usually use only one or two at the time. After they dry and get flattened and sit out, the smell does fade away.
(And I've got the best nose in my house!)

Yup just got back from the store, bought some of the Cologate with aloe. Smelling that makes me think of when I was in high school, I used to use that to shave my legs Ahh the good ole days.
In my high school, shaving cream fights during the Fall Retreat were a tradition. I liked the Colgate brand because it was cheap and didn't leave me smelling like a man after the cleanup was over! It also didn't sting as much if it got in your eyes.

Hmmm...I love the LIME scented shaving cream. I am not sure what brand it is though.
I think that Barbalsol is one of the strongest scented ones out there.

Yes I can help! I too am sensitive to perfumes and the regular shaving cream gives me a headache. I found the Equal or Equate (I forget exactly what it's called) brand from Walmart is the best for no scent or very low scent. It is also the cheapest I've found too, less than 90 cents. It's the only thing I buy at Walmart, but it's worth it. My customers have noticed that it doesn't smell too, though some of them say they like the smell of shaving cream and miss it! But I don't miss the headaches!

And I thought *I* was the only one!
Phew!! I love to "play" with the technique, but after the first time the paper stank (is that a word?!) so bad... I haven't used it for anything. I even tried to wash the paper off under running water the next day!  NO help, yuck the stuff STILL stinks after 6 months!
Maybe Aveeno can help us out!? Teehee!
We use the shaving cream to make cards. All you have to do is get some shaving cream, spray it in a plastic plate, smooth it with a spoon and use ink refills to drop colors onto the shaving cream (1 or more colors of your choice). Then use a toothpick to swirl the colors. Then you dip the front of your cardstock (glossy works best) in the shaving cream press on it to make sure your whole card is covered, wait a few seconds. Then slowly pull it up and scrape the excess shaving cream off. We recommend using a scraper from pampered chef the ones that come with the stones, but a plastic credit card or flat spatula will do the trick. Anyway after you scrape the excess off you can wipe off any extra shaving cream with a napkin/papertowel. And bam you have an awesome shaving cream background. I have to say this is one of my favorite techniques. I recommend the Colgate shaving cream
I bought Equate Sensitive Skin shaving cream from Walmart and as far as I can tell it has very little smell. I have found if you do use it for the shaving cream technique dont shake it for some reason the technique dosent work as will with this brand if you shake it. Just a small tip.
Like the rest of you, I loved the look of shaving cream backgrounds, but couldn't stand the scent (stink?)...
Up until a week ago, I had been using EDGE... unscented gel... from Kmart.. think it was $2.49 for a 7 oz container... and yes, the gel did work for me
From now on I will be hitting The Dollar Tree way more often! I found a shaving cream for women: PURE SILKwith aloe... it came in "Raspberry Mist" and "Cucumber Melon" ... both scents are very mild and pleasant... and pretty much disappear in a very short time. It comes in a 14.75 oz container on top of it all!
And guess what??? PURE SILK is from the makers of Barbasol ROFLOL
Try it, you'll like it
