I have gotten so many warm fuzzies, appreciation and love since I started participating in the Hope You Can Cling To card drive, benefiting the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and the ladies there who are battling breast cancer.
Despite being super busy with running a new HYCCT challenge every day this month, and processing uploaded cards etc., the "committee" and everyone participating is so encouraging and supportive of our efforts. I applaud everyone involved for the amount of energy they are putting into this worthy cause!
The idea that I could brighten someone's day when they're feeling physically and emotionally low just spurs me on to make more cards. I have had chemo treatments for a non-cancer illness and I know the feeling of sitting in that cold chair, just wishing for some gentle comfort or encouragement (my nurses were great but they can only do so much with a blanket and a pillow).
If you feel up to making a few cards, consider joining the party! It is so much fun! You don't have to join a challenge but they are very clever and fun as well. And there are potential prizes for your good deed
Hugs right back to you! Splitcoaststampers is a pretty special place all year long but there's added sparkle during the month of October! Thanks for sharing your story with us, it's so fun to get to know everyone a little bit during HYCCT! Thanks so much for playing along this month!
This is my first time participating in the HYCCT challenges and everyday I have felt gratitude and amazement at the work the team puts into these. I have had time only to make a card for each challenge and in the past few days I have been able to browse and comment, too, so it is SO awesome to me that these ladies do all this!
The galleries for each challenge are filled with so much beautiful art work. I encourage others to jump in and give it a try!
Thank you to all of you who put this together and are running it! It is SO much fun and I am eager to mail my cards off with a prayer for those who will receive them.
This whole month is just like one big, long group hug. It's our craziest and favoritest month of the year! It's such a privilege for all of us, and we could not pull it off without you participating... so thank YOU!
Let me say like poppy say it. I been there like poppy say it. with mom who breast cancer.
when she wish for the same thing about the feeling of sitting in that cold chair, just wishing for some gentle comfort or encouragement (my nurses were great but they can only do so much with a blanket and a pillow). But, just let me put different twist on things. For you see I am handicapped I have relay on mom for everything thing. Like get me up and bed. Help me get in bathroom and get dress ect. They were times my mom was so weak from the chemo. she barely drug bed to take of me. So you see why this is so important to me. I have days where I get worried and so sad a frustrated! But, I still find hope in good time and the bad! Thanks for let me share my heart Please payer for us. Jesus had brought us a long ways! thanks hotwheels
Ps: I hope this Challenges for the HYCCT Will continued for many years to come. My Is going back to another cancer place called Cancer Treatment American in Tulsa Ok. We somethings come up. And the doctors are not sure what is happening! It dose not look good!! But, We know Jesus!! We go Nov. week of 14th so please pray for us! thanks hotwheels
One of these days I hope I can join in making the cards......I love being a sponsor but with all the other things I do to support people/groups with my cards I can barely keep up.
I do look at every single card every day since I too am disabled and have to lay down by 7pm every night. It gives me hours to look at all the sweet cards that you all are making. You can bet if I could be stamping instead of laying down I would be in the stamp room making cards for the challenges....just get to a point where I cannot even sit up anymore. So ladies keep up the good work...your creations are sooooo beautiful and you all help me to feel like more than a sponsor because I see all your efforts to help others and I feel like I am a participant looking at the cards every day.
hugs.
Poppydarling, I completely agree with you! This has been especially fun.
I took part in the 2012 challenge. I'd been an on and off scrapbooker for a few years, but I was new to card making and did not have much in the way of supplies. It was fun but it was also a stressful experience.
This year have a few new supplies and a whole new attitude toward crafting. I'm no longer going to worry about whether my cards are good enough. I'm going to enjoy the learning process and know that I did the best I could. The more practice I get in this year, the better my cards will be next year, right?

Just take care of yourself and be good to yourself! Who you are and what you do is enough. And it's plenty. Sponsoring the drive is an amazing thing! And thank you for your support and comments in the gallery it means a lot.

We will I wish you comfort and peace as you go forward. You're not alone! Take care of yourselves.
It's my favorite month of the year and I put so much love into each and every card in hopes that they will one day bring a smile or a bit of comfort. I would encourage everyone to join in. Once you make one card, you'll be hooked!
