Default Memorydex

I've been seeing memorydex projects on various blogs, here and there, and recently got an email about a class. I understand what a memorydex is, but am wondering if many people have them, and what you use them for? Is it a decorative item (kind of alike a mini art journal?), or do you use it like a mini scrapbook album? It seems like the actual cards are slightly larger than ATCs, which would limit their use.

I used to make a lot of ATCs, and swap them with online friends. I keep my ATCs in small albums with slip-in pockets, but it sounds like people don't generally swap memorydex cards?.

So I'd love to hear all about it.

I use mine to display photo's, inspirational sentiments and sometimes just a technique I like.. It's in my craft room on a shelf; I use Heidi Swapp's

MemoryDex is really specific to memory keeping. There are also FaithDex cards that are art journal type cards with a Bible theme. I've also seen rolodex cards being used in the mixed media and junk journal communities. You can do pretty much anything you want with rolodex cards. You can store them in the old rolodex containers, or the Heidi Swapp cases, or you can make your own. I've done a few mixed media cards and they were shared with Fan Club members in past Dirty Dozen galleries. I like making them as they are a small canvas that I can complete a little more quickly. And I prefer doing mixed media projects.

There are several groups on FB that are geared to Memory Dex Cards and Swaps. Just type in Memory Dex and check them out.

I see there is an American Crafts version as well as Heidi Swapp. Does anyone have a comparison?

Thanks for the tip Ronda. As it turns out, I got an email today from Scrapbook and Cards Today with links to classes on MemoryDex! Don't think I'll try it right now, as I still have regular sized layouts that have been languishing, unfinished, for years...but I was curious about them

Vicki Boutin will be doing some classes using it for techniques she does when she creates. In her case, it can be used as a reference to re-creating the techniques.
