okay, i confess. i am always trying to save money by using GP white. your samples once again convinced me of the superior quality of the SU! c/s. i am not a demonstrator, but my sis is. and i am a confirmed SU! fan (dont ask how many SU! stamp sets i own). i am just determined to break down and use the SU! ultrasmooth white more often. such a huge difference in the stamped images in your samples. just need the reminder from time to time. thanks!!!

I wish you could see IRL the elephant.... that real rust looks RUST on the usw and looks OFF color on the GP! The mellow moss trees look SO much nicer on the USW too!
You guys were DEAD ON on the first two though!
Plus, on the GP, I couldn't get the elephant as "fully" stamped... it just doesn't want to pick up all of the detail.
Go SU! |
I TOLD YOU!!! I had to convince MamaK that the US was worth the extra money. And I didn't do it because I am her demo, but because it really does stamp cleaner. I didn't notice it myself until I got us white in my starter kit. just crisper and the ink stamps more evenly!

Ok, I feel like an idot for asking -- but what is GP paper? Since I've only used SU in the year I've been stamping, I'm clueless!
Thanks,

Awesome Idea! I'm having a beginners class and I am definately going to show the difference. I never knew there was a difference at first. The demo at the first party I went to even said (not knowing she was breaking demo rules) that she buys her white card stock at Sam's Club to save money. So, like a fool, I did the same thing. My Real Red ink never looked the same as the Real Red card stock; it took over a year to figure out the problem was the cheap card stock.

Edited to add: Ok, answer was revealed like 3 pages ago  I really need to read all posts before posting...
I also have tried the Georgia Pacific Wally World paper and there is a big difference not before stamping, but after. I use the cheap stuff for matting or for the card itself (even though it is a bit less sturdy - not much) as long as it does not need to be stamped on. JMHO It isn't a waste of paper per say - I use it to try out new techniques or colors just so I do not waste my SU! US. Then I do the real thing on US and *wow* it only gets better!

Alright, alright already! I GET IT... spending money on anything other than SU is usually a waste of that money. Fabulous. Now what am I going to do with this ream of GP??
Thanks, MamaK!!

I too buy the white cardstock at Sams.... but I use it for practice and I let my kids use it! I also use it to mount my SU card fronts onto if I want to send them out. Saves on using my SU cardstock all on a card plus I don't have to share my US with my kids!
My guesses were:
2
1
2
but it was hard with C to tell. But I can be proud that I got the first two right at least!

I haven't read through all the pages so I hope I'm posting this AFTER the results have been posted!
Edited: WooHoo! I just read through the 6 pages and I found the results. Clearly A & B were dead give aways. C was a little harder but the color was truer and the image was crisper with C1. I remember when I first started stamping I used GP cardstock but my cards never looked as good as what I had made at the SU party. I broke down and bought my first package of US white and I've never looked back. It is simply the best! The US Vanilla is awesome as well!
