Default Little Round Magnets

Can someone tell me if there is a trick to using these little magnets as card closures? I tried using them without much success. They held so tightly that it was hard to open the card and when it did open, one of the magnets pulled away from the card. Are you supposed to cover them with paper?

Any help appreciated.

I cover them with paper and it seems to help. You can also use a brad or some other piece of metal to take the place of one of the magnets to make them go farther. I have also used those refrigerator magnets that businesses give out for things that I don't want to have a lot of cling.
