I'm not sure I should be asking this question, but I'm just so curious that I have to!!! Someone has been listing for sale on eBay a stamp of a snowman face - actually 2 sellers now seem to be involved. If I knew how to link you to the listings I would....but I don't know how. The words "whimsical snowman face" will get you to the listings! And you may have to look at completed listings. I'm not sure if the stamp is currently for sale. Does anyone know who makes that stamp or if it is part of a set? Neither person lists the company who makes the stamp. I'd appreciate any help you can give me! Thanks so much.
Yes, that's the one. And there's another seller that has the same stamp. Neither mentions the brand of stamp, so I feel sure they wouldn't answer if I asked. And neither says the stamp is retired which makes me think it might not be. What do you think?
Wow, I expected someone would know, but I didn't expect this fast! Thank you so much for your help! And might I ask, how in the world did you know that?! Amazing service this Splitcoaststampers is!!! Again, thank you!

You are so welcome.
First I searched the internet, and etsy, and pinterest, and multiple companies that sell stamps and I didn't find anything anywhere except links to the stamp on eBay.
Then I thought of searching our very own SCS gallery and viola - I found a post in someone's gallery with this image and the poster said the manufacturer was Printworks. Then I went to Printworks to see if it was still available and there it was
The best advice: 'buyer beware' when the seller won't share the manufacturer and the asking price for the stamp is high and it is a brand new stamp. Red flags for me now

Here's an adorable Printworks peeking bunny stamp that you can usually find for sale at incredibly inflated prices on eBay around the time that spring/easter is approaching.

I'm happy to help because recently I overpaid grossly for a stamp on eBay to later find out it was a Memory Box stamp: Memory Box.

Thanks so much for spending all that time on my behalf! I just couldn't help but notice no mention that it was a retired stamp AND no mention of the brand. I've seen many stamps that are currently available for sale on eBay for pretty healthy prices. I kind of figured this was one of them. This is my first real notice of Printworks....could be a bad thing because they have some adorable things. Thanks for notice of the cute Easter stamp!!!

You're very welcome and being observant is definitely to your advantage on eBay (once - or twice - bitten as the saying goes.......LOL)
I have paid some high prices on eBay for stamps that are no longer manufactured - stamps of B. Kliban's cat images are a good example - and I'm ok with that - supply and demand.
As for you liking Printworks stamps, they do have lots of great images and their stamps are quality. Have fun exploring their company

Same seller, gosh it must be 2 years now, had a listing for the snowmen stamp from "The World Over". It was being bid up over $20 at times for ONE STAMP and once I found out the name of the set, I got it for $5 plus shipping (the whole set, not the one stamp) Move the clock ahead 2 years and this same seller is selling the same stamp with a BIN of $14.99. What, does this person just have cases of single stamps laying around? They also have that branch stamp that Queenofinkland mentioned. Things that make you go hmmmmm

I feel sorry for them too. I would be steamed if I found out I overpaid for one stamp by $22.00, shipping was $7.00, really for one stamp, that just screams "rip-off".
Things are worth what people will pay unless that thing is readily available for $15.00 less than what you paid for it. At that point, 'you was had' !
Oh, I don't know. I mean, probably. But there are situations when the buyer might still come out ahead. Primarily, for international buyers who are looking for stamps from companies with HUGE shipping costs.
If I want something that is $5, and the only shipping choice is $22, but someone on ebay will sell it to me for $17 with free shipping, well, I am still $10 ahead even though the seller more than tripled the MSRP of the item.
Emily, I hear you but the examples that you're using about are not really what I'm talking about.
I'm strictly talking about when an eBay seller charges $20+ dollars for a stamp (even if the shipping is free) but I can buy the same stamp from another source and get that stamp (including delivery and any other costs) delivered to me for considerably less than $20.

I have to agree with Queenofinkland. Somehow it just feels wrong. That FEELING thing seems important to me...it seems to be some kind of gauge of "rightness" or "wrongness." I don't know why money/profit seems to sometimes muddy these waters. I mean it's fun to buy low and sell high. But when you're buying a currently manufactured item and selling for several times the current price...it just doesn't feel right. The seller isn't giving full info on the stamp because that would definitely eliminate sales. If it was a retired stamp she'd be able to give that info. She does give full info on some stamps. I'm assuming those are retired stamps or stamps she's acquired in some way other than by buying currently manufactured stamps. Does this make sense...or am I just rambling?
No, I hear you...Like I said, they must have boxes of the one snowmen stamp because they have been selling it for quite some time and people are buying it. It's retired from SU so there is for sure something up with it. How many could they possibly have? Something for sure not right there.
