I am offically done with being a demo for TAC. I dont think i will ever demo for anyone ever again!! Now i can conentrate
on buying all those other stamps!
I'm a former SU demo and I know what you mean. It's so much more enjoyable (to me) to just stamp for fun and buy whatever I want. This is my hobby and I like not having to worry about the business side of it.
Well between the loss of the discount, it went from 25 to 20 percent and increase coming next year in the min, and the enormous gorgeous stamps from all these other sellers, My cheating heart couldn't be faithful anymore.
Sometimes being a demo can be stressful...I put a lot of pressure on myself last spring, and tried being more of a "business demo" and scheduled a bunch of classes. It was stressful AND exciting to me, but the stress almost made me want to quit. So I took a break, haven't scheduled anything for a few months, and got back to stamping just for me. I didn't even have an open house when the new cattie came out <gasp!> I have started enjoying making whatever I want, without regard to who's product I was using, like I did in my pre-demo days. You know what? I decided I love being a demo. I really love to teach people to stamp, and share my passion. I really can't wait to have a stamp-a-stack soon. So if you are feeling the pressure maybe try taking a break? It really worked for me!

I know how you feel and if I ever stop having fun, I'll be out of it too. I tried for a few years trying to make it as a demo and bring in more money than I spent, lol. That did not work so I decided to just have fun. Tac mins were easy to keep up all by myself and I loved my demo friends and all their chatter. Then I got into copics and was only interested in stamps I could color which were a rare find in the TAC catty for awhile, so I stopped buying and started looking elsewhere. I joined another demo company and soon was swimming in images to color...but I'll always miss the fun we had on the boards with TAC and the cool people there. I am not emotionally attached to the new companies boards or the demos even after a year and a half. It's just not the same in that reguard. No offense to them, it's probably just me and where I am at in my life and artful journey.
Anyway, am happy for you and hope that your creativity just bursts at the seams with your new change.
Me too - I'm outta TAC and SO relieved! Each catty had less and less that interested me and nothing that interested my friends. I stopped buying boxes of catalogs two years ago when I found myself trying to foist them off on strangers. I have more than enough stuff than I will ever use so what was the point of ordering more to fufill my minimums?
I do agree that I enjoyed the demo forum and felt like one of the gang over there. But that wasn't worth the money I was spending myself to be an insider.

I love having the freedom to buy/use/emotionally attach myself to anything out there on the market. Having to be faithful to one stamp company would be a creative nighmare to me!

I second this! I am so glad to be a stamper again instead of a SU demo.
I can buy and use whatever I want. No more minimums, no more ordering just to order becasue I had to, no more envying the other stamp companies.
I will be ending my demo relationship with TAC at the end of the year, told my few customers that my final order would be mid-Nov. I have no complaints what-so-ever with TAC, great company! However, I too got kind of bored with their stuff, and have branched out to other companies, & love it!

Sister, I'm so there with you. I'll be leaving SU after this quarter. It was a tough decision to make, but once I made it I got so excited about being able to stamp for myself again. No more creating things just because my customers will like it or will be able to do it - I get to go wild with what I like. My only worry is my spending. Restricting myself to SU was my way of limiting my spending - now I just have to figure out a new strategy. I'm so tempted by the Copics and Nestibilities. Since I don't have hardly any of these - just stocking up on those could blow a year's budget. Any advice?

I AM SELLING ALL MY COPICS! I am sick of those too. LOL. I am not sure if i will do ebay or craigslist. I rather own a new sewing machine. I think I have 100 of them.
I think I am going to just start using the stamps I own and get rid of what I dont. I was going to list a few on craigslist but ihavent had the time yet.
Couldn't you list your stuff for sale on here? I thought I saw a forum for that...
You gotta do what makes you happy. Life's too short not to. Congratulations on your freedom!
i have tried to list some stuff here, Honestly people dont realize how expensive shipping is or they want to buy it from me for a ridiculous price.
Things are a bit harder to sell here in the B/S/T forums. I have some stuff listed and they will be going to the stamp rummage sale next month at the LSS here and then I use mine for store credit for all new stamps.
I am actually slowly selling ALL of my SU stamps and will eventually sell my inks also.
Are you saying you could not buy other stamps while you were a demonstrator for TAC?
Not at all! I just think most of us have a budget to adhere to. When you're a demo and you're doing classes, you need to have a fair amount of current stuff on hand to demo. It limits what you can spend on other stuff you might love.

Have fun buying all kinds of stuff from all kinds of companies!
I was in a hostess club once ($30 each month for 5 months on SU! stuff) and didn't even have the discipline to continue that. My spending is very sporadic and spread all over the place!!

So sad. :( I've never gotten rid of any of my Stampin Up Stamps.
Great for you! I personally am not an SU fan. I think their shipping and adding tax put them way out there for my tastes. So many other companies offer so much more w/their stamp images ... stamp your heart out, girl.

Why don't you add to your siggy, a link to the stuff you're selling in the B/S/T forum? That might give it more exposure to potential buyers.

Absolutely! If you price your things reasonably, I bet you wouldn't have a hard time selling in the B/S/T at all. I think the B/S/T forum has a hard time because *some* people post their items too high-- so they do go to ebay and craigslist to get the better deal.
Have a great time branching out! I signed up with TAC briefly, but like you, couldn't stick to one company. I love having choices. There are SOOOO many goodies out there to play with!!

No one said you had to stick with one company...As far as buying other stuff.
You just can't use any other companies stuff if you're doing a workshop. Shoot I buy from other companies. Just not all the time.
I wait til I have enough money in order for me to do it.

It was a cost issue for me. I couldn't afford to come up with minimums (as low as they were) AND have much left over for all the other goodies I wanted. I ended up buying things I didn't want or need just to make the minimums and realized that was ridiculous. But again, I was more of a hobby demo for TAC that also belonged to an SU hostess club -- lol, so it just didn't make any sense.
