If you could have one wish for something to help you with your crafting, what would it be? I would wish my eyes were better! Its so hard trying to create when I'm constantly taking my glasses off to see close-up details and then putting them back on to see the overall picture.
I love my no line bifocals and sometimes use a lighted magnifying glass. I wish my fingers and hands did not hurt. Just sayin'... Really like your posts, muscrat.
Thanks! I have no line bifocals and still have to take them off for close up work! I just said to DS that I may invest in one of those long arm lighted magnifiers.
No pain in my fingers and hands and back would be wish number two!
I have to take my glasses off too, if I want to see detailed stuff...need to get new ones, but last time (a couple years ago) I got glasses it cost me 600 bucks for one pair, and I just can't see doing that every year or two (they didn't even last a year before I noticed I was needing them updated). Besides...if I were to do that, I'd have to start saving money so I could and that would mean no fun crafting goodies! LOL So....I take them off.
If I could have one wish it would be that I was better at thinking up how to arrange my cards, without cheating and coping someone...I don't always do that, but I also don't always make a card I LOVE either. LOL So...basically I'd like the designing of a card to come more naturally to me.
I'm going with designing cards too. I was going to say bottomless bank account, but what good would it do if I had every single piece of everything and still didnt know how to do the layout?
The close second would be time. I wish I had a lot more time.

haha, yep, I thought more money would be nice too...but as you say what good is that if I can't figure out how to use something. While I don't have tons of goodies, I have plenty if I was better at the "designing" so that would have to be my #1. :-))
Love this thread. I am constantly taking my glasses off too, Kathy. Or my nose starts dripping and I need a Kleenex. Seems there is something that is always driving me crazy as I persue this cardmaking passion. And I compare myself to others and find me wanting, lol.....
Got a little arthritis at this stage of my life in my wrist and fingers too.
Designing is another wish that I was better at.
I think have a lot more wishes than just one, lol......
Time is the biggest factor for me. 4 more years of homeschooling ahead of me then my life makes a big change. A cleaning fairy would be nice too so that when I did find a few minutes to stamp I didn't have to spend the first few minutes finding my desk! I'm also looking forward to the day when I can move my "studio" out of the unfinished basement to more pleasant surroundings that aren't so isolated. I have a lot of space and good light though and the messy desk is out of sight where I am though. ;) Life without carpal tunnel would be sweet too.
Great topic! For me...I wish I was better organized. Many times when I make a card I start getting stressed out half way through because my desk is so messy that I can't find things. Wish I could figure out how to keep a clean desk throughout the process. Maybe a bigger craft area would help with that, but I need to learn to put things away the second I am done using them!

This exact same thing. I got my first bifocals last year and they aren't helping with crafting at all. I constantly have to take of my glasses for close up work.
My one wish would be to get rid of my migraines and dizziness. And feel normal again.
Then I could craft more!

Sounds like we're in the same boat, Alex! I just took mine off to type this message!
My DH has migraines, Leslie. I understand how pain keeps fun at bay. He takes injections (about 100 a year!). They are trying preventatives, but no luck as of yet.
I have to agree with everyone, the eye sight thing. I wear bifocal contacts during the day and can do anything with them except craft. Bifocal or not. My eye doctor told me when you get to this point in your eye sight, you sacrifice something. For me it's close up work. When I put on my no line bifocals, they are only better because I can take them off to do the clos up work. Actually right now my glasses are broken and every time I bend my head a little they fall off. I know they can't be fixed and I'm too cheap to buy new ones...$650 for me .
I would love a little more space! I have the tiniest bedroom now for a craft room. Just a little more room would be great! I have it filled with all my stuff and I love working in that room because it's bright, and it's my space. If I had a little more room, I would make a longer desk. I use two desks right now, and a small letter writing desk. I have a desk against three walls, and it still seems cramped. Love it though! I also have a cart against the wall and an end-table. I have made the most of the space I have. I'm thinking of taking off the closet doors too, so it's easier to get at the stuff in there. I have glasses too but I'm far sighted. If I took off my glasses, I wouldn't be able to see a thing! Perhaps a headlamp with an eye loupe would help me! Kind of like what a jeweler would use....
-My glasses work great for me and our work plans covered all but 75$ of them
-I have lots of space for my supplies
-they are organized pretty well
-and I seem to be content (mostly) and not want more than I need, or have (mostly ;)...)
-inspiration manages to show up when I want it to
Sooo... My wish would be to be able to share and create with so many of you! Wouldn't,t that be just so delightful!

I just wanted to tell you that you made my insides smile. Thanks.
I have lots of great card ideas to copy - cause I have no creative juices at all! It's taken some time and therapy, but I'm OK with that now. :-|
I have all the supplies, dies, organization and pretty stuff I need to escape into crafting for the rest of my life. I'm at the prime of my life for card making...
I wish I had less 'dragging deriere' - it inhibits what I can accomplish in a day. Just need some Get Up And Go juice. Even my coffee doesn't wake me up any more. LOL
Akkk....I'll thank my lucky stars mine were ONLY 600 then! Yikes! Maybe I'm just a cheapskate! LOL
Why are glasses so expensive? You are using the same frames, so it's just the checkup and lenses that cost $600-800 dollars? Wow.
I met a young lady a couple of years ago and she had eye glasses from an antique store. They were those cat eye glasses that slanted up at the corners, maybe from the 50's? Very retro looking. I told her I loved those, and she said she did it because it was so much cheaper than buying frames. She paid $12 for those frames and had her lenses put into them.

Costco does glasses, right?
In our case, DH gets transition lenses plus the no line bifocals and scratch guard and his frames were close to $200! We have insurance but the Dr we have doesn't participate....next time we'll use our doc and take Rx to Walmart and use our insurance!

Another option is online. For a single vision prescription some people I know order online somehow. They are under $100
Zenni Optical is the company. You must have to know what style you want, I suppose. I think you download your picture and then "try" frames on

That last line....now that is something I would definitely wish for too! Great one!
Being loathe to pop for over 600 isnt cheap to me-that's serious money. I hope some of the suggestions here might work for you. In the meantime-what about just taking some rubber bands, looping them together to make a chain that will hold the glasses on your head? Not pretty, but functional for inside the house. Being elastic they should stay put?
More money to spend on craft supplies and a craft room like Jennifer McGuire's.

My wish comes down to one word: SPACE! My craft room/SU! Demonstrator needs (ie computer, printer, files) all have to fit into a 10'X10' room and if I want to work with one of my big tools like Sizixx I have to carry everything I need downstairs to the kitchen table. Now that our daughter graduated from college and found her dream job 7 hours away, I am eyeing her room as a place to expand, but DH also wants the room for his acrylic painting hobby. I just have to keep organizing everything to know where it all is and not to trip all over it when I am in "my" room!

Understand where you are coming from I have the same issues....meds have worked a little but still no total relief.

I mimic your post except for glasses costing 75. I would love to beable to meet all the lovely ladies here on SCS for a day of crafting! I'd even be content with the few who live near me if I knew how to arrange it!!
I think the only thing I would wish for is continued health. Being retired we worry about our future health.
