I am co-chair for Teacher Appreciation this year. We have about 30 teachers (pre-K-8th grade).
I'm looking for ideas for gifts that I can make (I may have help, I may not, so not terribly intricate). I'd love to do something other than candy, maybe something with sharpies or something teachers like.
What if you decorated one of those disposable coffee cups and put a packet of hot chocolate in it? An individual sized microwave popcorn bag is a nice alternative to candy for a snack.
I think this has been added as a gallery category -- just click on "Occasions Galleries" at the top of the page to see the lists of holidays and themes!

Thanks - I'd sure be interested in the measurements.

I just made 8 mini composition notebooks with jumbo paperclip bookmarks for back to school gifts. I found the notebooks in 2-bundle packs for .99 at Target when back-to-school shopping, but I have also bought them at Walmart for .77 each. Instructions are on my blog, here are 2 pics:

Reason: spelling!
Last year before winter break I got big packs of Sharpies from BJ's (a large warehouse store). I wrapped up a few Sharpies (1 Black and 2 that were different colors) and attached a tag that read,
"Teachers are like Sharpies-
Always there when you need them and
They leave a permanent mark on your
HEART"
But the HEART was a stamped heart rather than the word.
Quick to put together and I got a LOT of compliments. Since I used to teach I know that Sharpies were never included in our supply closet like paperclips/post-its/pens were but were ALWAYS needed. (Although teachers love cute decorated stuff much more than the boring yellow post-its that were available to us, LOL)

I saw a very cute teacher gift made with a pencil holder cube from Walmart's photo frame section. Each of the panels was decorated and then it was filled with the teacher's favorite snack. I thought it was really nice to give the snack to enjoy now and the pencil cube to have as a useful item to keep.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please post a link.
Just saw this thread and I came up with this idea the last time I was volunteering at school. One of the kids kept using the teacher's bottles of hand sanitizer, soap and lotion for their hands. How about name tags or "teacher only" tags for these?

Are there any good poems for a teacher to go with hand cream?
\
Yes, it's a little early for end-of-the-school-year gifts, but I got a great deal on some nice hand cream so I want to get started early on making the gifties!!
My 7 yo daughter is going to make altered clipboards and add the A Muse 8.5" x 11" 2010 Calendar. She watched a video on how to do it and is eager to get started. LOL! She is most eager to use "mommy's mod podge".
