Default I need help with Cuttlebug!!!!

Hello everyone,
I was just browsing through a card site and they had some wonderful cards done with the Cuttlebug machine.
They had done an embossing pattern on top of card and then had a gap and then she had another pattern on the bottom. I have been playing with mine to get it and no luck.
Does anybody know how they get this done without having to cut and glue onto another card?
Thank You to one and all in advance.
Take Care
Sharon:confused:

When I have made cards that sound like what you are describing, I usually do make a panel with the embossed designs that I then adhere to the card front. This allows me to position the embossing and also tie a ribbon around, while hiding the back of the ribbon . . .

but depending on the orientation of the embossing and whether or not it has "top and bottom" you might be able to do this without a separate panel.

I know that some Cuttlebug users actually cut their folders to emboss only part of a card. (such as a thin border across the center). I think you could partially emboss on a cardfront by only inserting the top half (or 1/3, whatever) of the card into the folder, then run it through the bug, then turn the card around and do the other design on the bottom. This would only work if your fold was on the side of the card, and not the top. Hope that makes sense!

Could the card you saw have been made with a CB embossing border? They would be pretty easy to use so that there is more than one embossing image on the same front, I think.

One thing I've done is partially insert the cardstock into the folder so only part of the front is embossed - then use the scor-pal to "draw" lines and stamp on the other part.

Not sure if that helped or not, but I hope so!

hi sharon! do you have a link for the card? if we saw it, it might be easier to replicate it...

here's a couple of ideas.

Beate has a tutorial on how to 'partial' emboss which i think is very helpful. click here.
Susie also has some great instructions here.
you can also use spacers/shims in place of one of the spacing mats; make a frame out of thin cardboard - cutting a square out of the center. use this as a mat under the embossing folder and when passed through the cuttlebug only the portion of the mat will be embossed - the center cut-out square will not emboss because there isn't pressure on the folder... i hope this makes sense. i thought i saw a tutorial somewhere on the web, but can't track it down now.

FOUND IT! [so glad, since it would have driven me NUTS the rest of the day, and i've got work to do!]

so, here's a tutorial for selective cuttling. i thought it was indigo inklings' site, but couldn't find it ... my second cup of coffee helped ;)

i should also probably add, but you probably already understand this, that this tutorial is for plates [instead of folders] and a bigshot [instead of a cuttlebug] so you'll probably have to adjust your stack to make the thickness right for whatever machine you use.

Here is another site with a tutorial on Cuttlebug Techniques. My favorite is how to use multiple folders without getting a crease. I have tried all these techniques and they work. SusieB is my hero!
