Would it work if I purchased the cartridges and Cricut earlier that week and then returned the items and immediately rebought them during the sale hours? Of course I would have my receipt. I admit that this is cheating and I feel bad even posting the idea.
Oooo good thought-
I don't like doing that either but my MIL does it all the time. She purchases something then finds it on sale in the ad a few days later- although she doesn't know ahead of time...
I actually did this when I purchased my digital camera. I bought it on a whim from Best Buy for Scrapfest and found it in the Circut City ad the next day and went and got $30 back.
How wrong would that be to do this "Knowing" that it would be on sale.
Still thinking though that I want the Expression. But the cart. would be an amazing deal!
If you can scan it and send it in to bfads . net I'm sure everybody would just love you to death!

And to answer another post about the Expression- there is nothing in the ad about it. Just the Create for $149

If it is within 2 weeks of the date of purchase, I have gone directly to the customer service desk with my receipt and said "Hi, I bought this last week and it is on sale now - I was hoping for a price adjustment or do I to physically bring it here so you can return it and buy it back?" and they have refunded the difference without question. True, this has only been at Target or Walmart - I have not tried it at Michael's. And I did not have advance notice that the items would be on sale, so I do not know if the policy would differ. I think that is what the "not valid on prior purchases' is for.
I didn't want to go to Michael's on Thanksgiving. There is a thread here where the employees were asking for our support - they would rather be home with their families than work. Those Cricut cartridges are such a good price, I hope the sale is for Friday only.
There is one for Craft Warehouse, IDK what that is but maybe some of you have one near you?
Thanks Jimmi - terrific link!!
I don't have a Craft Warehouse near me, but it is nice to know the sales at some of the other stores.
I am SO a get-up-at-3-am-to-hit-the-black-Friday-sales shopper, but our in-laws will be here, so I don't know if this will be frowned upon. :( And I am SO looking forward to it since we have spent the past 2 Christmases overseas - no black Fridays sales, everything overprices, exchange rate with the Euro horrible...
I don't think that all M's employees are disappointed that some may work on Turkey Day. I'm sure everyone was asked if they wanted to first. I worked retail two years ago just for the holidays and I didn't mind working Xmas eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I got double time for some of it and honestly, I wasn't doing anything so wonderful at home with my husband and kids anyways. We'd be doing the same stuff that we'd be doing any other weekend day.
Because they aren't paid very well, I'm sure those who are working are happy to get at least overtime for those hours. A little extra for Christmas presents is always nice. I love when my husband get to work holidays. Its the only time he is offered double time because he is salaried. He gets $800 a day on those holidays! (then the tax man taketh away) You better believe I kick him out of the house for a few hours to work. He doesn't mind much because he just needs a few hours to be considered a day, plus someone has to do the work regardless of holiday or not.
I'm not going to try to scan all 4 pages because they aren't that important. Its mainly christmas decorations and stuff. I'll cut to the chase and get to what matters most!
Update- I guess the scanned image it too big. How do I shrink it down so that I can upload. I got an upload error.
One employee said they got to sign up if they wanted to work (overtime) and she was #10 on the list...

This is the first time they have been open on Thanksgiving, so we were given the option to work or not. I am thinking about it because it is double time and a half since I am full time. We will have our dinner already done since we eat so early on Turkey Day, so I won't be missing anything except everyone sleeping on the couch! LOL! The only down side is that I have to be in so early the next morning.

They don't all pay overtime---if you don't work full time they don't have to by law (at least in my state) And if you don't work you lose your job. Seriously. And no most management doesn't get comp time. My husband has worked for several major retailers and they have all been the same. They have rules that all must work certain days if you want to keep it. During certain times of the year management works 7 days a week and sometimes open to close--but if they are salaried they get no extra pay. And there is no comp time--your comp time is you get to keep your job. The upper management gets the benefits of comp time and such but not in the stores. I'm not meaning to cause contention but I won't ever shop on Thanksgiving and just sharing the way many companies are--and it is getting worse with the bad economy because they know if someone complains that they can find someone to replace you with.
I promise I won't post here again to cause contention when someone was advertising a sale price but just wanted to throw it out there that when we choose to shop at certain times it takes away from others family time that they get to enjoy.

...sorry for the interruption, but shopping is very improtant stuff...
OH MY CRICUTS~!~!~!~ Thanks for the share...I *need* a stack of those new Carts. I am debating an Expression...one day I want it the next I think I should stick to what I got. What's a girl to do?
Oh my...so much for shopping for others....those cartriges are calling my name (i'm suppose to get the cricut for xmas though...darn, i'll have to wait a month to use my new toys!)

I actually had a clerk at Joann's SUGGEST that I do just this a few years ago when scrapbook totes were on sale 50% off - I wanted one for my daughter, so took the clerk's advice, bought it at regular price and sent DH back a couple days later when the sale started. All he had to do was take it to the counter and they did a return right there and then sold it to him for the sale price, no questions asked!

My MIL said that it would be a good idea to purchase then take the RECEIPT back in and ask if you can get it for the sale price instead of doing a return that you would just get back what the difference is- make sense?
That's what I did with my camera, however, she also said that they may NOT do it because of special sale pricing and with it being the holiday ad/ shopping Black Friday or even just Thanksgiving they do have the right to limit what they will do.
customcrops.com has the Cricut cartridges on sale for $29.99 right now. Sale ends on 11/13. I got a email from them this morning. Also, if you get carried away, there is free shipping on orders over $100. Don't have a cricut; but thought you would enjoy the alert.

LOL - I am worried they will think "gosh - I think all she does is shop shop shop!" Sorry you sister couldn't make it home this year. I hope she is able to catch a rotator and you can enjoy the shopping madness together!

I work at michaels and normally we will match a price for 7 days from the purchase price. All you have to do is bring you receipt in and we can give you the difference back. However, we are told not to match the early bird sale prices even if the customer bought the item within the past 7 days. Some stores go ahead and match anyway and some managers will let you do it as well, but just keep in mind that some stores will not match the early bird or special prices.
Since we have never been open before on Thanksgiving I am not sure if we will be matching prices on the sale items that day but from what I have heard that chance is pretty slim.

Something like this happened to me at Sears - I had bought some stuff then it went on sale. I asked if I could get a price adjustment and they said no, I would have to return it. I asked if I could return it and buy it and they said no, it has to be restocked for 24 hours. The sale ended that day so I returned the stuff and just got replacements off the shelves, but I won't be shopping at Sears again anytime soon.
Joanns Black Friday Ad is posted on their website.. I must say that I am alittle disappointed. Cricut Cartridges are $37.88 which is a good deal though as long as I don't get some of the $30 ones at Michaels.
is there a cart with the cricut create that on sale for 149 at micheals?
If it is the same formulation that they normally sell it in, and it hasn't been repackaged as a special for the holiday price, it comes with the DonJuan cartridge. It has an alphabet, numbers and a few shapes (some funky tags, a snowflake, some lips, a house...) and some sayings (season's greetings, to, from, thanks..). That is what came with mine anyway, but I got it for my birthday in October.
I think that is an amazing price for it -it has a lot of the functions as the expression machine, flip, fill page, cut to page... It just can't cut shapes as large as the Expression.
I decided not to take any chances, lol. I really want Base Camp and the manager at my Michael's said that it's being discontinued and they won't get any in. I just went ahead and ordered it from cricutmachine.com for 29.98 plus $7 shipping. At least that's a load off my mind, lol! Now I can try and get to M's if I want and not stress about not getting the one I want most.

Thanks Betsy! I never ordered from them before but figured I'd give them a try. Placed an order this morning. Now, like you, I don't have to wake up early on Friday to stand in line at Michaels! Or worry that they will be out of the ones I want - SWEET! It ended up being $4 more total once you account for tax vs. shipping. At this point, my piece of mind (so I will stop thinking about it and can concentrate on other things) is worth paying the extra $4. Might not be THE lowest price, but definitely a GOOD price right?
the only reason these stores open on the holidays is because people DO go out and shop on them. So those that commented on the fact that they should be closed and employees be with families.... well what about those shoppers going out to the stores? I used to work at Kmart which was the FIRST retail store to open on Thanksgiving and well they continued it because they DID make money. Think bak to when stores were closed on Sundays... well someone somewhere decided to open up a store and well... now almost NO retail store is closed on Sunday unless prohibited by law. (Tell me where that may be).
think of the people who really don't celebrate the holidays..or family is not really close by and I want to use that travel money fr gifts and get home for Christmas instead since I also have more time off.... why not shop? (Except I'll be going to NYC for the Macy' parade)
I saw a tv ad about this just this morning...WalMart IS MATCHING ALL advertised prices!!!
SWEET! They don't have as big a selection, but if there is a cartridge someone wants that Walmart carries as well, this might be another option if one's Michael's is sold out.
