Jeni: I think it is perfectly "normal" (LOL) to want to make one card after another! I do that all the time. I have the luxury of having my craft stuff out all the time (unless there is company and then I have to pack it all into the laundryroom) so I can work a little and craft a little. As for actually stamping, I have days when I can stamp perfectly and other days when I can't get one stamped image to come out right! I've found on the latter days, I'm better off just to put up my ink and try another day. As for how many cards do I make a day...I usually work on more than one at the same time so maybe one every few days except that is at Christmas card time, then I've stamped fifty images in a day or assembled ten complete cards in that same time period. Any day I get to work on cards in any form is a good day. Card making keeps me sane! Keep stamping. Kay
I normally spend every hour outside of work in my stamp room. It has all the comforts. My hubby travels Mon-Fri for work and all my sons are grown and gone. So..I work, sleep and stamp. I have a maid so there is no cleaning and when hubby is home..he cooks..I do make a lot of cards...The last 6 weeks I have only gone in there a time or two. Since I hurt my back I just dont have the desire to sit there for hours...hopefully this will pass soon..I have a new Grand Caliber and all the nesties to go with it and the new release of regular size nesties sitting there waiting for me. This is just the tip of the iceberg on new stuff sitting there waiting patiently for me to come and play.
Enjoy the time..it is so great.
blessings.
We all have stories like yours. I had to cut back my "habit" because it started interfering with my domestic chores as well as my time with my DH and DS. That is how bad I got.
In the summer, I don't do much because I am so busy.
To answer your question, yes, I have made a card and the next thing I know, I have made four cards and it is almost dinner time:eek:
Enjoy your new hobby and don't do like most of us did and get a gazillion of everything (buttons, ribbon, and eyelets oh, my!!) Take it slow.
Stamping is my main hobby. With my new house (been here 1 1/2 years), I have my own stamping room. Used the dining room table in the previous house. Anyway, there is never enough time to stamp IMO! Sometimes I make one card right after another, but sometimes I make 8 to 10 cards the same all at one time, like recently making 10 sympathy cards. Then I have some on hand and don't have to stamp in a crunch when I am tired after work.
I try to get in my stamp room every day even if I don't have enough time to complete a card. I might go in and organize a little, brainstorm ideas for my next class, pull out some cardstock for some color challenges just to have it ready. Sometimes I'll just try out a technique to see if it's something I can pull together into a card...sometimes it works others it doesn't. Today I made 6 cards through the course of the day but that is more than I usually make. I probably complete about 3-4 things a week.
It's totally addictive so no worries on what is normal! =)
Not nearly often enough!! It's that whole life thing, gets in the way!
Pamela
I remember one time reading a post about some woman being to busy to stamp at the moment and she said she occasionally would go into her room and 'pet her stamps"! LOL
Depends on how busy my "other" life is, lol. This week I stamped just about everyday, making 1 card, but I'm embarrased to say that one card often takes me a few hours.
But some weeks I'm lucky if I make one or two cards. I have to agree that checking out all my favourite blogs and SCS takes up more time that could be used for stamping, lol. I save all these projects that I just haaaaaaaaaaaave to make but yet I can't seem to get off the computer to go and make them.
I may not actually be stamping, but it's always in the back of my mind. I was at a concert in a church about a week ago, and the church had a wall that got me thinking about colors - a beige wall with brown and turquoise. It seems there's inspiration everywhere! I love "organizing" my space and trying to make it more efficient. And I love being here with all my fellow stampers. And then there are the times I actually stamp! All of it is good!
I stamp daily until I stop completely... I just began stamping again after over a year away. I owned my business and it dictated that my time be spent there. I loved it, but have since sold it and now don't work. So I am back at it. I made 4 cards yesterday, 1 today. I usually only make 1 maybe 2 a day but sometimes when doing some easier one or a number that are the same so to speak do more. I have not purchased any new supplies besides a few Maggies since coming back. But today I joined the Magnolia Stamp club for a year... Can't wait for them to come in. I also blog most of the cards I make which takes time too. Anyway all my stuff seems outdated but I don't want to buy a bunch again. My space has changed considerably, I now stamp in my guest room rather than a room that was just for me. Space is tight in our new home but it is working ok. Sorry I rambled.

Sometimes every single day for a week or more....sometimes none for a week or more. All depends on my mojo which takes a vacay now and then and my work schedule and other life events. I used to make up to 8-10 cards a night when I cased a lot but usually get 1-4 done now if I'm designing my own....it all depends...
I go to my stamping room every day. I like to have some of my images stamped so I can just pull one out to color and begin the process. Now I don't have very many images that I keep stamped. But even if I don't make something I go straighten up or just get ideas. I rarely make more than one card a day.
Stamping is my main stress reliever. As my parents care-giver, I needed time every day that was just "for me." Even after my mother's death, I still lock myself away for at least an hour a day, just to stamp/create. I find it helps me keep my balance. Even though I work a 12+ hour day, I still find time for family, friends, home and stamping. If I didn't MAKE time for all the things in life, I don't think I could find enjoyment in anything.
OMG Im so Happy That all of you shared your experience with me!
I knew I wasnt alone!!
I Turned my hubbys bar into my work space, and dont own much as i just began Card Making, But Im hooked, Im thinking of ways to come up with new things!! I've even thought about joining a Swap to get the opportunity to make more than 1 card, even if it looks the same...I enjoy making it Step by Step with my own two hands!!
I just Need to know what should I do with my cards, I dont have anyone to send them too, so im storing them in a shoe box...lol
I am in my stamping room every day in the evening after work. I make almost one card every day. On weekends, with no commitments I may make several. On a VSN weekend, I make a lot! Occasional CASES, mostly all my original designs. Even though I try, I rarely make the same card. I will be selling cards in my DH's new store, so that may change. If you have excess cards JenisCorner, there are lots of deserving people who would love to receive one. Tuesday's Teapot Challenge has a person every week that is highlighted if you want to check in. Thanks.

Swaps are WONDERFUL! When I first joined SCS, I found it a great way to satisfy my need to be constantly "card making." I also learned time saving methods for stamping, like how to pre-cut all the layers at one time, create a "master card" and then the copies, how to color...
You could join a group like Divine Secret Siblings, (DSS), here on SCS, where you get a Secret Stamping Sister to send cards to...I have participated for a very long time, and have made several really great friends! It's located here: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
You can also give them to nursing homes, co-workers, neighbors, donate them to a church, school, daycare, senior care center, etc.
I stamp everyday...sometimes all day long! When my DH goes golfing or curling..so do I...in my studio! No dishes get done..no floors get cleaned...too bad! When not stamping I live here on SCS! LOL Did I mention I love to stamp?????
Whenever I have time. Usually, it's on my days off. I can make two or three cards in an eight hour spurt. Usually during the week, I start maybe 9 cards: cut lots of paper to size and then stamp them all as the ideas flow. Then whenever I have time later I'll start colouring them in by colour (all the red in every single card, and then all the blues, etc. - saves time 'cause I don't have to keep washing the brush or changing markers).

I only like to stamp in a crunch! I need the pressure of an occasion to make cards. I've only sat just to create.....maybe twice. But that's what I like. Right now I have a "leaving the office" gift and card to make for a former co-worker and two thank you cards to make. I'm not in the mood to create today...so I'm a little behind.
Oh, also I have three to make for the book club I'm in...I better get going!
For some reason if I make a card just for fun I never use it????
I make more cards than I used to...maybe four a month. I'm happy with that amount. I too love being here with my fellow stampers. I don't feel a bit bad that I'm here more than stamping.

I have a craft "bar" too!! When I first looked at my house I saw the bar stocked full with alcohol I thought well this will be a much better craft bar!~ It's not ideal (I'm really short and I like to stand a lot when I put my card together) but for now it works!
Sometimes I will stamp (or scrapbook) everyday. I was on 2 design teams so I was stamping a lot. I have since cut down to one design team, and now stamp at least one day a week. I have to cut back since I'll have to return to work soon. Boo!
I try to stamp every day. I have a lot of design team commitments that keep me busy, but I also just love making cards!! I wish I had the energy to upload to SCS and write a blog post every day, but I don't...

I didn't get to at ALL this weekend between work and family stuff...and then taking a nap today:-) But it was a well deserved nap!!! I've been BUSY!!!!! Now, I hope to be able to stamp tomorrow after work since I have to work late 4 days and on Saturday, blah!!! I wish I could stamp as much as I work and work as little as I get to stamp, lol!
I make a card most days, sometimes two if I have time and the ideas are there. Generally I play along with the daily challenges here, and do a couple of off-site challenges as well on a weekly/monthly basis.
I go thru stages of stamping. This past weekend, I invited 4 girlfriends (whom all stamp) over to my beach condo, and we also went to a stamping convention in Ocean City, Md. We left Thur and came home yesterday. When we weren't at the convention, we were stamping. We laughed so hard, my face still hurts! It's just a wonderful way to spend time with friends, and do what we love. We had alot of creativity going on. It was wonderful!
I would love to stamp every day but that just doesn't happen. I do keep things out on one end of my dining room table so when I have a few minutes, I work on whatever project I have going on at the time.
I do the majority of my stamping in the evenings after DH has gone to work. Usually stay up late on Fridays and Saturdays - those are the nights I get the most done.

Karen99 isnt it just wonderful to have close friends or sisters to stamp with? I go at least twice a year to stamp with my sweet adopted from SCS sister in Texas. We have an amazing time....blessings.
I stamp almost every day. With 5 married children between us and 12 grandchildren i am always busy. I also make cards for the hospital trays, but that is only about 400 or so a year. I crochet hats for the newborn during the fall & winter months & a card for each. I miss doing the challenges but just haven't the time. I still like seeing the cards made by everyone here plus all the great ideas. Bless you all!
About once a week. More often if a Holiday is coming up. I try not to have too many cards already made up, I prefer to make them as needed. I find that more fun since I can personalize the colors and images.
My main hobby is needlework so that takes up a lot of time. That and computer stuff!
Gee, you mean we're supposed to actually USE the stuff we buy?!
I was stamping everyday until a couple of years ago - before my daughter started dancing three nights each week. That with all the other kids' activities has all but stopped my stamping - just haven't been able to fit in new times to stamp. The fact that I still don't have a dedicated stamping area makes it hard to get motivated to pull out my supplies from various places around my house then having to put them right back when I'm done so we can use the dining room table for eating. It's sad really because I have tons of really amazing supplies just dying to be used again.
