I have a Cricut and a Cuttlebug. I love them both but have found that lately I've been enjoying stamping and coloring the images more. Do you find yourself going back & forth between your tools/stamps? Do you get "into" one certain thing for awhile and then switch to something else?
I have them both also. And yes, I seem to float back and forth..
I also digi scrap and quilt! lol..
I had to make a schedule for myself to get anything done!
But, I have to say, i dont get bored..lol
I LOVE my Cricut, but I usually use it more for scrapbooking than card making. I do go back and forth though. Right now, I'm on a kick to use more stamping in my scrapbooks. On my cards, 99% of the time, I use my stamps.
I have both too. Last night I was making a Christmas card and I wanted to layer the oval scalloped nestabilities on an image. i found out to my dismay that I had already used the biggest one I have (only have the small set), so I got out my Storybook cartridge and made myself one which worked out great.
I have both and love them. I couldnt' imagine NOT having either. I'm not sure how I did live without them before...THey are a MUST have to any scrapper/cardmaker.
I have both and really enjoy using each of them. But somehow the Cuttlebug just blows my mind the fact this little machine will emboss & cut. Especially if you use a coupon I believe the bug is a lot of bang for your buck!!!
Although I hesitated for years, I finally broke down and got a Cricut. So glad I did. I LOVE it! I have a Big Shot (same thing basically as Cuttlebug) and I do go back and forth. I think I use the Cricut more for layouts and home decor and scrapbooking but sometimes on cards too. So glad I got...and the new carts coming out are fabulous!
Hi!
I have the Cricut Expression and I use it a lot for posters, calendars and bulletin boards at church and school. I've been a stamper for almost 20 years now and I can't image life with out stamps around. I mostly make cards and use the Cricut or Sizzix cuts to go with my cards, not so much to make the cards themselves. Although a few cartridges feature card cuts that make nice cards.
So yes, I use all the stuff as tools to make a card. If you ask DH it would be cheaper to just buy cards than make them, but then we wouldn't have so many "date nights" at the craft stores if I wasn't into making cards, LOL!!!
I got my Cricut Expression 3 months ago and have had my CB for a couple of years, love 'em both. The wild card cartridge is brilliant. I use both a lot.

Yep, I love my Cuttlebug too. It's definitely worth the money. I bought it first thinking I would use it more for cutting dies. When I saw the beautiful embossing it does, I was amazed. My mom and a friend each had to have one after I showed them what it could do. I couldn't imagine not having it or the Cricut. I am enjoying stamping also. It's so hard to decide what to spend money buying! I need more stamps and more Cricut cartridges. Oh and I would love more embossing folders for the Cuttlebug.
Wonder what hubby's reaction to my Christmas list will be? ;)
Ladybugstamper....love your idea for "date night". Dh and I had one of those a couple of weeks ago. It was so sweet. <grin>
I have a cricut, a cuttlebug and the big shot. I use my cricut now and then, but haven't touched my cuttlebug since I bought my big shot. (Other than to dust it.) I use my big shot alot more, primarily because I am a demo, but I also think it is more stable to use. I was always worried about the bug moving. While I don't use it much, I will not part with my cricut. Hopefully I will get to use it more with the holidays coming.
I have the Cricut Expression, the Cuttlebug and the Big Shot. I use them all but usually for different reasons. I'm still trying to figure out all the ins-and-outs of my Cricut, so I tend to just use it right now for cutting out really large stuff for posters or displays or cutting out lots of the same shapes for sizes and shapes of punches I don't have. I'm hoping to get more into using it once I get back into my scrapbooking. I use my Cuttlebug when I'm using my Cuttlebug dies (so I don't have to look up the correct sandwich for the Big Shot). But, if I'm doing a bunch of cutting with the same dies for mass producing cards (for shapes that I don't have on the Cricut) then I pull out my Big Shot since it's easier for me to crank the handle and it doesn't need to suction to a surface like the Cuttlebug does. I pull out the Big Shot mostly when I'm using the Sizzix dies so I don't have to worry about whether or not they'll fit in the Big Shot.
Like the OP, I go back and forth between doing die cuts and just stamping and coloring. It all depends on the particular projects I have going on at any given time. Right now, I'm lucky to find the time to do any crafting at all, but with Christmas coming up, I have plans for stuff that will entail the full use of all my supplies (die cutting machines and stamping and coloring supplies). A lot of times it depends on how much time I have. If I have more time, I tend to just stamp and color, but if I know I'm going to be close on time, then I'll design projects that I can mass produce easily and quickly (which means more die cutting).
I have all three and use the Big Shot and Cuttlebug a lot. The embossing with the Cuttlebug is really great but Sizzix has a reindeer embossing folder that rocks. My cricuit should be here today. There was an awesome deal with Costco, Cricut expression with two cartriges as well as the binding machine. ( the machine was 99.00 at Michaels ) The whole deal was 279.00 and I got the money by selling my school books to other teachers for a dollar piece. ( I just retired.)
I have to tell my grandaughter about this date night thing since I don't have a husband. <G> I have a friend whose husband let her get the Big Shot for a birthday gift but won't let her spend much on cartriges. Good thing I'm well stocked.
Does it count if I had one and sold it? I had one including all the extra goodies and 36 cartridges. I didnt like getting it out all the time and had no space to leave it out so finally due to lack of use I sold it all.
My sisters both have them if I need anything and my baby sis just got a gypsy. I was looking at how cool it is yesterday. But I dont really miss the Cricut.
blessings.
Sure, that counts. As much as I like having the Cricut, it's still just a tool. If you don't use it, what's the point. I think you are very wise and I need to follow your example. I have tons of things I don't use, I'm waiting for some day, well, that day hasn't come yet, LOL!!!
Have both and love them, I love my stamps too, I do tend to go back and forth w/ what I use. Sometimes though I use alot of different tools, for one project.

I have all 3. I use my Cuttlebug and Big Shot all the time. Depends on what I'm cutting out on which one I use.
I have had my Cricuit for over 3 years and have used it 1 time. (the day I got it). It's never been used since. I will sell it soon, as my husband is getting me the Pazzle for Christmas.
I am interested in seeing the reactions on this topic as I think I *need* a Cricut. lol!
Have a cuttlebug and love it but I love what I have seen the Cricut do---keep the opinions coming!!!
Carolyn, YOU NEED A CRICUT!!! LOL! My sweet DH bought me a Cricut Expressions for my bday last week and I gotta tell you, I don't know how I lived without it! It just does SO MUCH! I also bought the SCAL program, which lets you cut ANY True Type font on your computer as well as clip art, svg files, you name it! You really don't even need cartridges if you have SCAL (but lets face it, we stampers/scrappers must have it all;))
I also have the Cuttlebug and I've used that thing every day of my life for the past 3 or 4 years, lol! Love them both!
I love love love my cuttlebug .. I use all my nesties in it and those old fiskars plates and off course the CB folders and die cuts.
I just got my Cricut Expressions and only have 2 cartridges .. but I haven't used it yet ...soon
I really couldn't pick between my Cricut & Cuttlebug. They're both wonderful. I only have 5 cartridges for my Cricut but hoping to get some for Christmas. I've considered getting SCAL but not sure. Oh and I absolutely love doing the vinyl lettering with my Cricut. I have phrases up in 4 rooms in my house. Plus, I used it to put a scripture on my hubby's Sunday School room wall. My son in law painted a mural on one entire wall and I added the scripture to it. Everyone loved it.
My problem right now is trying to decide what to spend my money (which isn't much right now) on....embossing folders for the Cuttlebug, Cricut cartridges or stamps. ;)
I have an Expresson, Cricut, BIGkick and Cuttlebug. I don't use the Cuttlebug anymore since the BIGkick is a much stronger, sturdier machine and can accomodate any dies and embossing folders without exception.
I use the Expression or BIGkick for every card and at times both machines. I use the Cricut for smaller cuts. My stamps are used to embellish the die cuts and embossing. So yes, I use both die cuts/embossing and stamps on every card.
I have both the Cricut Expression and Cuttlebug. I love them both! I also am enjoying coloring more now adays, but depending on my project, I think they all get used frequently.
I have a cricut expression, and am in love with it... I use it alot in my scrapbooking... I also have the sure cuts alot program for the computer that works svg files on your cricut, so you dont have to buy all of those cartridges and you can make your own svg files with inkscape I love mine, and would not trade it for anything
nicholejanette, does it take you a lot of time to use the SCAL? You know, searching for files & stuff. That was my concern when I thought about buying it. Also, I use my cricut mostly for cardmaking. I haven't done a scrapbook page in months but need to get back to it. Do you think you'd use SCAL as much for making cards?
I'm thinking about the software also. I have a new notebook with a big harddrive which could handle it. But wonder if the 90.00 is worth it? Joann's would not honor a 50% coupon on it.
I'm new to cricut and seem to have a lot of left over paper which of course I can save for cuttlebug and Big Shot but seem to waste less paper with them than the cricuit.
Jeez, I own practically every die cutter. I have two Cricuts, lol. What am I doing right now? Knitting, ROFL!
I am playing with my Gypsy a lot. Yes, I am always going back and fourth on crafts.
I tend to use my Cricut with my stamps. I adore my Cuttlebug. She's my lil girl.
To all who are wanting SCAL. It's worth it because you get a lot out of it. It really pays for itself. You probably have seen my other posts about die cut machines. I have the Gazelle now. I still use SCAL quite often. That might change now that I have the Gypsy but SCAL is a very frugal option for your Cricut.
I tell all new users the must have tools for the Cricut are: a dental pick, the spatula, an old gift card to scrape your mat with, SCAL and the free version of Design Studio.
Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't buy the tool kit but the old card I have as Staples sends offers all the time on the credit card plastic. I'm going to have more obsolete credit cards if they keep raising the interest rate! <G> Where do you get the free version of design studio.

I have a cricut, orginal, and a cuttlebug. I use the cuttlebug and stamps mainly for cards, sometimes I'll use the cricut for some cards--but I have my moments of "cricut cards" and stamp cards. I keep debating on getting the expressions--but I can't justify it. I want to scrapbook too, just don't know that I can live up to the ideal that I want. Maybe once I start scrapbooking more I can reward myself.
I don't use the cuttlebug though for die cuts hardly ever--other than the nesties....mainly for embossing folders :-) LOVE THEM!
I debated a long time also but just spent some time viewing videos on the cricut site. It can do so much it is amazing. Where do you get the SCAL program? I have some fonts to die for on this computer.
I have been using my Cuttlebug every day to make die cuts I sell in my antique booth. I love it too as well as the Big Shot. I thought I was the only one who had everything.
I have a Cricut Expression and a Big Shot and absolutely love both of them. I tend to use my Cricut more for scrapbooking and my big shot for embossing for backgrounds on my cards. I nearly sold my big shot when I got my cricut, but so glad I didnt now! Dont know what I'd do without either of them!!
