I can see how a person who has been stamping for 10 years has well over 100 sets. I have only been stamping for a year and I have 12 SU sets . 6 were purchased used. Plus I have 7 JustRite sets ( 4 more sets on order) and 17 other stamps

I agree with Sewnmachine, SU is just too expensive and it is hassle to find a demo. I will admit that they have very nice merchandise. I have only the Dasher stamp from them.

I don't want to count 'em LOL - but I did find in the last 2 or so years that I wasn't buying them anymore - too little space for 'em. So I also noticed I was buying lots of clear stamps - now I've decided on cling mounted red rubber as my fav stamps. I've slowly been unmounting my SU! stamps and wheels. Love the new clear mount SU! stamps - bought 1 set and got 2 saleabration of those - that will be the only way I'll buy sU! now. FIrst it was for the "space" but now its also for the ability to line up nicely and make patterned paper myself.
Oh and when money allows (which may be never if they don't stop coming out with stamps i want/need - I want to put my unmounted that have come off the cushion (about 1/2) on EZMount.

After pricing individual stamps at different places($6.50 for a piece of unmounted rubber), a set of three stamps, unmounted small to medium size that were $12, I don't find SU all that expensive when you break it down. Now if it is a set that I only really like one or two images from, then absolutely that seems expensive to me. Even as a demo for SU, there are times when my eyes pop out of my head because of the price seems a bit high, but then I go to stores, online or brick and mortar and find that sometimes it is about the same when all is said and done. If I like the stamp or stamp set and know I will use it, I buy it. ( I just paid $16 for a single stamp,Thomas Kinkade, but still, $16!) As far as it being a hassle to find a demo, is it that you don't want to deal with one because you think they will be pushy and not leave you alone? I can understand that, but if that is the case, just pick one further away from you. I was fortunate when I ordered from a TAC and CTMH online demo sites, neither where pushy or anything.
Almost forgot, last count was around 150, but probably closer to 180 since I did sell a handfull of them. But I also have alot of Gina K, some PTI, and a ton that I bought from I Brake for stamps. Plus a few TAC sets as well.

Reason: to add actual subject
Slightly over 100. I NEVER sell or get rid of sets (since I got rid of a couple early on and regretted it immediately). I'm the Hotel California of stamps....;)
I actually HAD about 127 sets but I have since sold about half of them off. I just don't use them anymore and I have since branched out to loving other companies as well. So I sell my old and buy new.
420 sets. I just checked my spreadsheet. I keep saying I'm going to sell some but when I go through I can only find a few I would want to part with. I also have a collection of wheels but they're not on my spreadsheet so I don't know the count--probably 25-30.
I love SU and own less than 10 stamps from other companies.
I have too many to count. Actually I am not sure I want to know. I think SU has the best card stock available. I love most of the inks too. Now I am hooked on Verve stamps and have bought several and plan on buying a lot more! They are beautiful, stamp clear crisp images. They have excellent customer service. I am just a customer nothing more.
So I'm unmounting my SU stamps and need cases for them. ........ which means I need to count them so I know how many to get......54.... I was amazed at how much purple rubber I have! I am so glad SU is now offering cling mount. More space means more stamps and hubby won't be the wiser.
it's over 100 and growing.....but I don't count my hubby's collection and he doesn't count mine....of course he does remind me that he MAKES money on his hobby....and then I remind him that I could start buying cards at $3 or $4 bucks each....
I've got 14 sets and 2 wheels that are both unmounted and a maybe 15-20 single stamps. Most of these have been purchased used but I did get a few must haves such as "Lovely as a tree" & "Booglie Eyes" etc...
I have found that SU stamps are just too high priced for me and there are so many other stamp Co.'s out there to choose from and other less expensive options such as clear and unmounted rubber.....and I simply do not have the storage space in my craft area for tons of wood mounted sets.

SU now have clear mount...and they are cheaper than the wood mount version - and they have the most fabulous storage cases - I am loving em - of course I am a bit of a stampin up fan
Mmmm...how many stamp sets do I have...ummmm...errr...152
I've been stamping since 1996 and only bought my first SU set about 5 or 6 years ago. It was Pines, for the moose. I think I have about 75-80 sets now...but I have way more other stamps then SU!
Last year sometime there was a thread like this and I remember I had about 800 SU sets and over 100 wheels. I have a lot more than that now and I am loving the new unmounted ones...I too love the room that was pictured...very well organized.
blessings.
My FIL asked me that once, in front of DH, trying to stir up trouble. I told him I didn't know a number, but that my stamp buget is the same as DH's beer budget - I just don't p*** mine away!

I have 30 and I've been stamping since Feb 2009. I've unmounted 4 sets, not mounted a newer set and been getting only clear mount when available. I may unmount my holiday sets this year too. It's not just the physical space saved that's nice, it's not having all those boxes of different sizes rattling around.
I was looking at the upcoming winter Australian catalog and they have some of the older sets available to them in the clear mount, so I'm hoping we will too come July.
I've been stamping for almost 7yrs so I have well over 100 SU! sets and some other unmounted from other companies. I am very excited that SU! is offering unmounted- I'm doing some spring cleaning and selling some of my old sets to make room for some of the new ones
Not a one. Firstly, I don't like to buy "sets"; typically there's just one or two stamps I like so rather than have a bunch I don't, I only buy individual stamps.
Secondly, and I'm sure I'm opening a can of worms, I really don't care for the style. SU! quality is very good, on all the products I've seen, but my preference leans more toward realistic than whimsical.
About 70 sets (spread out between summer 2001 and SAB of '08 ). Back in the beginning I pretty much bought from SU exclusively; now (almost ten years later) there are a lot more options available to us stampers, so I've diversified, so to speak. Don't even ask me how many non SU sets I have!

First, I don't even want to know how many stamps I own! Just seeing my storage containers growing on my bookshelves is scary enough for me! LOL I am working on an index though... getting frustrating to have to look through all the containers to find what I want! LOL
I don't understand the comments on here about SU being so difficult to order from? I have several local demos I can use, and sometimes I do. But my favorite demo is online - I kept finding myself liking her SCS SU cards the best whenever I was looking for new card ideas. Finally I checked out her blog - she is the best SU Demo I have met so far. Her name is Sandi MacIver and her link is: http://www.sandimaciver.com/sandi_ma...rio-day-2.html
She is quite the artist and talented lady! She answers every question I have had about SU promptly. She is constantly giving away blog freebies from SU! I have won several times, and I never win anything! Now I can't say that any more! LOL
Anyway - with Sandi - I can order directly online to SU through her site so she gets credit and yet SU will mail it directly to me. That way she doesn't have to pay shipping to get the stuff to her and then to me. Big deal since she lives way out in OR and I live in northern MN. I still get all the same benefits as with my local demos but actually many more perks from Sandi! So she won me over - thats for sure.
Anyway - my main point was that ordering SU is very easy to do! I know many demos that would be glad to help you out.
As to the cost - I buy primarily from these main companies: SU, Papertrey, B Line Designs, Invoke Arts, Rosie's Roadshow, Memory Box, Graphic 45, Stamper Annon and Ranger. The stamps I purchase (unless they are on sale) are all in pretty much the same competitive price range. Of course unmounteds are cheaper and clings cheaper than wood anywhere. I am VERY THANKFUL that SU is going to more cling stamps. I love that red rubber - get best stamping that way I think! And now I think their stamp sets are much more reasonably priced given the cling version.
Just wish SU would give option to purchase individual stamps from their sets... but imagine that will never happen. One could alway hope though.
Also wonder if SU might make some of their classic stamp sets and future sets all with the option of cling or wood. It would be nice to have that choice.

I agree - so many times I pass on a set b/c I don't like enough of the stamps to justify the purchase.

I know that I, for one, had ZERO luck getting a demo to even respond to me when I tried finding a new demo through the locator a couple of years back. I was wanting to place a big order during SAB, but had some questions I needed answered first - contacted THREE different demos (the only ones listed within 45 miles), telling them I was wanting to place a $150+ order... nada. Nothing. Never got a single response. Needless to say, they didn't get my business. And I certainly wasn't going to just use their name to order online and give them credit when they couldn't even take the time to respond to my e-mail! So, to answer your question, in some cases it isn't as easy as you would think, if you want a live demo to answer questions/ offer workshops and such. Just my experience! (And on the flip side, I had previously had two VERY good demos- I'm not saying they're all like this.)

No, we're definitely not all like that! Sorry you had trouble before.
