How do I get crisp images with PTI stamp and SU ink?

Hello there. I am hoping you gals can help me out here. I am having a bit of trouble getting all of my stamped image when I use my papertrey ink stamps. I am using SU new ink pads and either SU whisper white paper or PTI cardstock. I have conditioned my stamps with the eraser method. I read on old thread about this and someone mentioned using a foam pad to stamp on. I tried that with the foam from my SU clear block storage box and I was finally able to get all the image without is being so distorted. Do you have an other tips for me? Does anyone know where I could actually get a foam pad to stamp with as I only have a small piece? I especially have a hard time getting the image with their background stamps.

Are you lightly tapping your stamp on your ink pad? I like to tap three times and then stamp.

Are you inking the background stamp by facing the stamp image side up and then pressing your ink pad onto the stamp image?

Trying some quick fixes first.

You can find a sheet of fun foam at any craft store.

Oh I see fun foam. I'm sure I have some of that around my craft room somewhere. I will try that.

I do flip my background stamps and then ink but still have issues when I press on my stamps. I bought a brayer to perhaps roll the ink on, but haven't tried it yet.

a thick mouse pad will work for the "foam" as well.

If you're still having issues. It's the surface you're using not the ink.

You need a really good smooth surface to make sure you get a even stamped image.

I find if If I don't have a good smooth surface my image won't come out good.

I also found that using a clean, new adhesive pick up block instead of an eraser to clean the surface of the polymer is much more effective.

I use the pad to the stamp, and put my foam pad underneath when I have a hard time getting an impression. Most of the time it is no issue for me though.

Thank you for all the tips. I found I had to use 4 layers of the fun foam before I could get the entire image on the background stamp.
