Default Help with scoring cardstock EVENLY

I have been stamping for a while now and I still can't seem to get my cards to fold in half evenly after scoring them with my fiskars cutter/scorer. They always seem to be just a hair off. Can you please help?! How do you ladies do it so that you get an even fold?
Thanks in advance!

I use my scor-it to get them to score correctly. The scor-it has a centering ruler so you can make sure that you are even on both sides.

Even though I have the scoring blade for my Fiskars, I use my bone folder. I just run it over the cutting groove. I never have a problem with it being straight. I'd use the scoring blade were it not for laziness. ;)

I have the exact same problem with my Scor IT! Ugh. About 1/2 the time my cards do not fold evenly and it is quite annoying. I am very careful about lining up my cardstock and butting it up against the top and scoring super slowly (or quickly, I experiment!). I'm the only one I know who can't get an even fold with the Scor It, so go figure. Maybe it's the cardstock???

If I understand you correctly, you get a straight fold but it is not centered. I have the same problem. Someday I'll remember to make a test template scoring at different measurements since scoring at 4.25 inches is not getting me a center fold.

But, until then, whenever I forget about this "problem" I do one of a few things:

(1) I use my little Tonic cutter to trim off the excess. It's not the cutter in the SU catalog but it is by the same company and I get very precise cuts (even if I'm only taking off a sliver of paper). This works best if you are not adhering cardfronts because they will now be slightly larger than your base.

(2) Use a tearing ruler or decorative-edged scissors to make a design and incorporate it into the layout for the front of the card (only cut the front panel of the card).

(3) Use patterned paper and apply a strip on the inside panel of the card. Be sure it coordinates with the design of the card front. There are some examples of this in my gallery (the two green "Magic Snowflake" cards - which might still be in pending status and the one using Holiday Thyme paper and tags).

Hope this helps and ...

I have the Scor-It too and have a difficult time getting an accurate score. My scoring never seems to be perfectly in the half mark. I'm not sure why but I hope to figure it out soon. I hate having to cut off the little extra to make the card even. So, Joan B you are not alone in not getting an even score with the Scor-It!

I stopped scoring altogether, cause it never came out right for me. Now I just fold them in half and use my bone folder to get a nice crease!

I tried that too, but since SU cardstock is so thick (a feature i love) it tends to wrinkle a bit...UGH! I will give it another shot though!

I just fold them in half and use my bone folder too. I've never done the scoring thing.

I have a scor-it, and think it's great. However, mine is just a "smidge" off center. I have to put my paper just a tiny bit to the left. I've made a mark with a marker to remind me to "keep left". Try with scrap paper until you find the right spot. Eileen

Default I use the Bone Folder, too!

Call me lazy...I just feel more comfy using the bone folder. I am SO Demo and I just recently ordered the Cutting Tool...so when that comes in I will try it and see how it goes(-:
