If I understand you correctly, you get a straight fold but it is not centered. I have the same problem. Someday I'll remember to make a test template scoring at different measurements since scoring at 4.25 inches is not getting me a center fold.
But, until then, whenever I forget about this "problem" I do one of a few things:
(1) I use my little Tonic cutter to trim off the excess. It's not the cutter in the SU catalog but it is by the same company and I get very precise cuts (even if I'm only taking off a sliver of paper). This works best if you are not adhering cardfronts because they will now be slightly larger than your base.
(2) Use a tearing ruler or decorative-edged scissors to make a design and incorporate it into the layout for the front of the card (only cut the front panel of the card).
(3) Use patterned paper and apply a strip on the inside panel of the card. Be sure it coordinates with the design of the card front. There are some examples of this in my gallery (the two green "Magic Snowflake" cards - which might still be in pending status and the one using Holiday Thyme paper and tags).
Hope this helps and ...
