Wink Help please

Hi all, I am very very new to this. I just bought $700 of tools, paper and stamps from my Canadian SU demostrator. I am trying to do raise money for my church's building fund by selling 1000 cards. I read somewhere on this site that SU do give out some goodies to chartable organizations, is it just for the state ? How do I get that in Canada ? Also, 2 silly questions, where do you get those clear plastic cases for wrapping your cards and which kind of adhesive is best for glueing the different layers of paper together ? Thanks for all your help. I enjoy visiting this site so much. Bless you all.

I don't know the answer to the first part of your question, but
I use mono adhesive to attach the layers. Tombow is one of the brands.
Also a number of people use double stick or double sided tape made by Scotch brand.
SU has the clear plastic cases to package card sets but you can also use
clear bags and tie them with a bow or tape.
I would look at the dollar store or two dollar stores for the bags, just make sure they are the right size before you buy a bunch. My friend in Canada gets lots of her supplies in the dollar stores and since it is for charity you want to spend the least amount on these kinds of thing. Same with the tape.

Try to check out office supplie stores for the tape and buy in bulk to get discount prices.

In the States, churches and charitiable organization have tax exempt numbers and office supply places accept these numbers so you don't have to pay tax.

HI,
Not much of an idea about your first question, you could ask SU direct I guess.

On the others I like to use double stick scotch tape to hold my cards together (if you do a search I'm sure you can find a whole thread about it).

Also, I sold cards once & I put them in clear plastic evenlopes from clearenvelopes.com

Oh my gosh girl you have really undertaken a job for yourself. First of all good luck! I like the mono adhesive for layering too and you can get it a lot of places. The clear envelopes I ordered once and if you don't find a good source let me know and I will look it up.

Hi there!

Absolutely, SU has contributed the Canadian fundraising efforts in the past!

Speak to your demonstrator about it, and she can contact our Demonstrator Support department to begin the process of requesting approval for your fundraiser events.

HTH!

Thank you girls, I didn't even know how to read others' reply until today when I search the forum under double sided tape.... I thought I clicked on the wrong button and my original questions weren't posted. I will definitely check out the dollar shop and the mono adhesive. What about that snail adhesive the SU sells ?

I did ask my canadian demonstrator but she didn't reply my email...... maybe she is too busy...... She was upset with me for only buying $700 of SU products from her, she said I bought too much on ebay.... I did buy some second hand and new products on ebay but only a couple of hundred of $$. She wouldn't even tell me how to do mirror images when I asked her at the demo party.....Well, she is the sister of my church friend, so I guess she can get away with it.

I absolutely love this site, you girls are so nice to share all your secrets and technique with others. God bless you all.

Goodluck on your fundraising venture. Sounds to me like you need to find a new demonstrator. Spending $700 is a HUGE sale for her and to treat you the way it sounds like she's treating you would be a HUGE turn-off to me as a customer. I bet you'd find a lineup of demos willing to help you in the future with purchases like that! That's ridiculous and un-called for. I'm not a demo but I'm sure you can find one on this website that would be thrilled to help you.

Default SU donation

Our elementary school had a silent auction/dinner dance and I wrote to SU directly- did not go through my demo. They were very generous. My demo donated catalogs to include with ALL of the stuff SU donated. Good Luck!

1. Clear plastic cases:

http://www.clearbags.com/
Don't know if they ship to Canada though.

Here's the plastic boxes page:
http://www.clearbags.com/?overview|boxes

Another alternative is to make & stamp a box. I just ordered a template from this place:
http://www.snooksandboo.com/

Lots of folks here have ordered it & really like it.

2. Adhesive:

Monoadhesive and Snail are the same thing; SU has it relabeled. The cheapest place by far to get Monoadhesive is www.viking.com. They sell refills for only $1.88 but they don't ship to Canada. However, maybe it would be worth it to have it shipped to someone in the US & have them ship it to you. I'm sure there are a number of folks here who would be glad to help out.

I think some people like to use double-sided tape instead but I haven't looked into prices.

Good luck!
