Help! Looking for Taupe colour cardstock
Can anyone recommend a company that sells taupe colour cardstock, or something very close to it. Looking for smooth - not textured.
Thank you.

I haven't seen this color in person but I was very pleased with the sturdiness and quality of their cardstock. On my monitor the color looks like a pale taupe:

They are a member company so if you ask on that forum you should get an answer as to if it is a taupe-y color.
Good luck and ...
Happy Crafting!

Thank you, but I have both and they won't cut it. Not the colour I am looking for.

Taupe is a hard color to define.
In technical terms, it is a dark grayish brown or brownish gray that is the color of a mole. Taupe is the french word for mole.
In practical terms, it is any grayish brown or brownish gray color...a warm gray.
All that said, in the technical way, SU's early espresso would be a very close color. But I'm sure that is not what you're looking for.
In practicality, any gray on the warm side will do. That's a gray that if you put it up against other grays, it looks brown. But if you put it against browns, it looks gray.
Have you tried SU's sahara sand? It is a warm gray with brown undertones.
I attached a picture for you to see...left to right:
Crumb Cake...Sahara Sand...Smoky Slate (the NEW gray!)

When I think of taupe, I think of the colour of brown envelopes or a tan type colour. Can you wait until 1st June? Coz Baked Brown Sugar (one of SU!'s new In-Colours) is, IMHO, a taupe.
Love all that stuff about moles!

I thought I would share snips from A Muse - but they are a little misleading.
Wheat is actually warmer (more yellow); Latte is closer to taupe:
I recently received an email from Penny Black - they have new cardstock that is also white on the reverse which makes me think it will have the same smooth surface also.
I haven't seen them in person but Sticks and Stones looks nice:

Are you matching it to a color you already have? You may need to try a specific cardstock company. I haven't tried this company but it has been recommended on these boards in the past http://www.marcopaper.com/categories...k%7B47%7DCover

lovetocruise...do you have a swatch of the color you are thinking of? If so, if you post it then maybe it would be easier to help.
Surely in Bazzill you could find the color you are looking for...

I posted the picture above for fun! That bank of paper colors never ceases to amaze me!
Dictionary definition of taupe:
taupe (tp) n. A brownish gray.
[French, from Old French, mole, from Latin talpa.]
I was just wondering if the color you are looking for really this brownish gray? or is it something else? That's why if you could post a picture that has the color you want in it, it would be helpful.

Diane, I don't have a picture to post, it is in my head what I am looking for. Actually I was going to look at some Bazill colours next weekend. I think you are right - if I can't find it there - then it does not exist. However the colour in my head to me is not remotely gray. Thanks again.

I have bought speckletone from here:
http://www.frenchpaper.com/french-paper-lines.asp
I do not believe any of the colors are named taupe... but, I have bought cream, kraft, sand, and a few other colors... try these swatches and see if something clicks... the problem is. your monitor may not see them the way they are in reality.
I also buy a lot of Neenah Papers ( cardstock) they call cover weight, if you go for 110# its heavy enough to be a base, if you go 80# its more for layers.

I'm pretty certain I have some Bazzill taupe in my collection though I don't think it is smooth...
Here's a card I made with it.

I was going to suggest checking what colours are in the Bazzill Card Shoppe range, since they are smooth. I only notice the colours I most buy, so I'm not sure what the full range is!

That's where I will check next. Would rather see them in person.
Thanks everyone.

Is it just me, or is anyone else dying to learn if lovetocruise ever found her "taupe", and if so, what it looks like?

Just so you know, I have not found what I am looking for yet.
I live in Canada, but am going to the States tomorrow to a scrapbook show and some scrapbook stores. I am convinced it will be a Bazzil paper.
I will definately let you know what I end up with and what I think is a taupe.
Thanks everyone!

where in Canada are you??
Bazzill has a line of heavy-weight paper called Cardshoppe and there's a great taupe called Peanut Cluster... Check it out here:

just wanted to let you all know, I did find a taupe colour at Hobby Lobby that goes with the invitation I am making. I don't have a colour name, but it is by Paper Studio.
