HELP!
Okay, so I just got a call from a friend who's parents are celebrating their
50th wedding anniversary and she wants me to do some kind of a favor. THis is the first time that someone (besides my family) has asked me to make anything for them like this and it makes me very nervous. So, I am looking to you guys for some suggestions. She says her dad loves Hershey's choc. kisses, etc. I had made some of the matchbox candies for somepeople for valentines day and she liked those. The thing I am worried about is that her and her family have a lohht of money and I just want to make it look nice. I want it to look unique or one of a kind and I like the homemade look just not the homemade look that looks like your grabbed a piece of paper and just glued some stuff together and you can definately tell it was "made with love" kwim??? I would think that she is going for a more regal feel. I am not sure what she wants to do for any colors yet, as she just mentioned it to me on the phone, but she did mention gold since it is the golden anniversary. |
Check the gallery... you can search for "favor" or maybe "candy". Look under the "anything but a card" section in "contain yourself" and "boxes and bags"... that'd be where I'd look for ideas! :)
Good luck! |

I totally understand, hand made, not home made looks....the gallery is where I get all my ideas...good luck! |
I have mada some wedding favor boxes that I thought turned out nice--and so did the bride unless she was lying! On those boxes it was the ribbon that really made them--it was a rich, lovely ribbon bought at Jo Ann's but I think you can get a really lovely look from the organza ribbons in the catty. THen I have also made up some boxes where before I folded them up I embossed some of the images in silver and they were very nice--I dont have a digital camera so I can't upload but I'm sure the gallery is full of great stuff--so many talented ladies here! Anyway, I think you will be able to make them look very rich and elegant with the right inspiration. Good luck, hope all goes well :)

A couple of things to consider... * How many favors does she want? You can put a whole lot more effort into 25 favors than 125. If it's a huge amount, go for gold ribbon, not gold embossing. * Is she paying you for your creations? Or is she asking for a freebie because you are friends? * Is the event a formal, sit-down-dinner or a family picnic? Will the favors be placed individually on the dining table or handed out by little children running around with baskets of your goodies? After she gives you answers to your questions, you will be able to plan. Then, you might make two or three samples and ask her which one she likes best. |
I saw a favor that was a few Hershey Kisses put on a plastic spoon, then wrapped with tulle and tied with a ribbon. It had a tag that said, " We thank you for coming with a spoonful of kisses, to bless our beginning as Mr. and Mrs. I did this for our wedding without the spoon--I tied Hershey hugs and kisses in tulle with ribbon and put a tag that said, "We thank you for coming with hugs and kisses, to bless our beginning as Mr and Mrs. Maybe you could do something like this with a tag saying something about celebrating 50 years as Mr. and Mrs.
