Everyone on this forum is so creative, I am hoping that someone has done this before.
My sister for her wedding would like to do little flower pot favors that have the handmade paper with the flower seeds embedded it them. Has anyone done this yet? I have made handmade paper before but wanted to know if there was any special trick to adding the seeds. (How many seed packets per sheet etc. )
There are many commercial suppliers of handmade seeded paper. You could check some of their descriptions to see what types of wildflowers or other seeds are in their mixes, since they have probably done lots of testing. I had searched for suppliers a couple of years ago and found only a few at that time. There are many more now.
I tried this and used pieces of dried flowers mixed in with the paper and then put it into old cookie molds - took longer to dry out - but then could be used as drawer sachets (just had to put some essence of oil on them) and could even punch a hole and hang up in closet or car or whatever!

just wanted to share an idea... I made seed packets for a wedding favor; with Wildflower seeds... they had a daisy stamped in them... and a little poem...
He loves me,
He loves me not.
He loves me,
We tied the knot!
I love the idea with the handmade paper... sounds cute!
I have been dying to try this since I bought some cards with seeded paper a year ago. Michaels sells a kit (from Dee Gruenig's husband, I believe) for making this. I bought it, but have yet to do anything...
Are there any inks to avoid using with these? I would think dye ink is OK to use and won't harm the soil...
I make handmade paper with my class every April for Earth Month. There is no real measurment. We just empty a package of seeds into the tub of water and pulp. (We recycle old worksheets to make our paper.)
I'm guessing you won't want to use heat to speed up the paper drying process... just stick with pressure and waiting... It's a new, fun idea to me, have to dig out the paper making stuff, it's been a few years...

Plantable Christmas cards and tags! How fun is that, I should really get started soon, thank you so much for all the tips and tricks, links etc. I never would have found the thread without the newsletter, so thank you again!
A friend told me that she made sympathy cards with a large flower stamp, and using a clear non-toxic glue, she glued seeds in the center of the flowers. She had instructions inside to trim the paper and plant them...
anyone heard of this or tried it?

I've never heard of this, but it is a loving and thoughtful idea. Thanks. ~ Chris
