WAAAAAYYYY back in the day, I was told to not use Green Lid Glue on DSP/cardstock that I was adhering to the front of a Whisper White card base because the glue could/would show through. Is this still an 'issue'? How do you adhere DSP to your card front. (I fought with, but used Fast Fuse)
I often use "green lid" liquid glue by Tombow. Although it is white when dispensed, it dries clear. I've never experienced a "show through" issue on white c/s or patterned papers.
The Tombow Mono Multi (green glue, here) works great for adhering layers IMO. I've never had it show, either, unless I use too much. And that's seepage, not "seen-through".
I use "green" glue almost exclusively on my cards. I've never had any any issues with card stock warping or puckering. A little bit of Tombow goes a long way. A series tiny dots along the edges holds paper very securely without "showing".

I use Mono Multi "green" glue on every project. The only issue is if I'm adhering a thin sheet of paper and use too much glue. Then even after it dries, the shape of the line of glue might be visible from certain viewing angles. The answer is to use less when working with thin paper.

I should add that for the recent 2 or 3 years, I transfer the glue to a "needle"-fine-tipped bottle. Oh how I love those eeency little bits of glue!! Darice is just one of many brands out there.
I use double stick tape mostly. I have an ATG gun but also use Scotch Brand tape runners. I prefer the “dot” configuration of tape. I tend to use glue only for embellishments.
Yes, if there is one thing I have learned over the years, it’s that you need far less glue than you think. I used to overglue everything. Another devoted Mono Multi fan here, but I use what makes sense for what I’m gluing. Matte medium, tape runner, scor tape, glue dots, Xyron, Yes glue. All have their uses.
