Does anyone here not use designer series paper at all? I have so much that I picked up at scrapbook stores and I just never seem to want to use it. It just sits there. Maybe I just have the wrong kinds... who knows.
I have made a vow not to buy any more 12x12 dp. I have so much where the designs are too big fo cards, or there is just way too much left over. 6x6 or 8x8 are a litte better, but but I'm loving the mat pads. K&Co has some nice ones, but my current favorite is Once Upon a Time frm DCWV.
I love patterned paper, and I admit I have stacks and stacks of it. I just can't seem to resist 50% off sales when the stores are willing to sell me such a big bunch of pretty paper for $10. I do use it on my cards though. And when I make cards, I generally make at least 4 to 6 of the same kind, so I use quite a lot when I use it.
I also use the patterns that are too large for cardmaking to make envelopes. The paper is just the right weight for envelopes. I put the pattern inside with the white side for the outside of the envie. To my mind, almost any pattern is more fun than plain white inside.
And when all else fails, I have an 11 year old granddaughter who loves to make origami. I cut up many of the patterns I don't use into 6 inch squares which is perfect for origami projects.

I must be unusual because I don't use patterned paper .
When I started about a year and a half ago I bought 3 packs of patterned paper from SU. I may have used 3 sheets of it . I use plain colored cardstock.
I make my own backgrounds with stamps or embossing folders.
For me it is easier than hunting for patterned paper that matches my card stock and ribbon.
Plus so much of the patterned paper is distress and I definitely don't like that.
A demo in Ohio was selling retired DP and I foolishly bought Bella Rose. I opened the pack to look at it . I have never used one sheet of it. I don't like it!
Thank goodness I never bought the paper in pads that are sold in stores.

I suffer brain freeze pretty much any time I try to use DP. Although I often love what other people do with it and I occasionally cave and buy a pad because the designs are irresistable, I hardly ever manage to produce a reasonable card with the stuff. Maybe some of us just have brains that work differently, Jaunice!

I use it on almost all of my cards, LOOOOVE me some PP! Takes some of the design pressure off of me, lol! I use it for a color combination jump-start, filler, etc...I'm especially addicted to any and all 8x8 and 6x6 paper pads

Thanks... lol I was beginning to worry about myself... heheh.
I love the use of SU's DSP, because they have coordinating colored cardstock. It makes the cards so pretty, in my opinion. When the colors all coordinate, that's when you'll see the impact, I think. That's how I was sold on using SU's DSP with SU's colored cardstock.
I use too then my style changed. I went back to "old school" & I love to make my own backgrounds. I do have a few sheets of pattern paper for my ephemera and mixed media work. Sometimes I will use it for a card. I like to make accents with DP. I have not bought paper packs in months. The last stack I bought was the Immortal Twilight stack from DCWV. I buy single sheets now and I am extremely picky.

Couldn't have said it better. Brain freeze big time. I even have books about using patterned paper just to get me using it, but I still haven't gotten over the brain freeze even with the step by step help! Must be a sickness - I love the patterns for design and color inspiration for my other projects but can't seem to cut up and use the patterned paper itself. I really need to use it - I have way too much just to have it sitting there. Too much perfectionist tendancies running through me - has to be just right the first time - hate making the mistakes and "ruining" the project.

I love Bella Rose! I love DP! I have never made a card on my own (wthout my demo that is) that doesn't use DP! My solids usually act as the accent pieces.

I don't use it very often. I have the brain freeze syndrome also. I have some, but not tons. I even have a hard time buying it in the store and usually will talk myself out of it, even if it's on sale. It just doesn't inspire me.
I don't use it on every card, but I usually do have some pp on my cards. For some reason I have a hard time using it on scrapbook pages. It seems to be overpowering when I try using it on my layouts - even if I'm just using it as accents. I guess the scale is what throws me off. I sometimes feel guilty if not very much of the pp is showing on my cards. It seems a waste to have cut up a sheet to only have a couple inches showing. Lately, what I've been using a lot is digital papers and printing them out. This way I can print 4 designs on a full sheet for a piece the size of a full card front. And I don't feel as guilty if I don't use the whole piece. Another reason I like to use digital papers is because if I have a pattern I like but its just not quite the right colour, I can recolour the shades I want to change or change the whole hue of the paper. Even though I use pp on my cards, I have tons of it in my stash that I just can't bring myself to cut into because its just so pretty.
I can hardly resist DP!! I won't buy it individually, unless I have a VERY specific project, but my room looks like a store!! The gal I buy CTMH from just goes cRaZY that I don't open the paper packs I buy from her right away, but I know what's in there and I don't like to take a chance of getting the paper wrinkled until the perfect time of using it! HA I just finished 4 albums that I had been planning for almost 10 yrs. talk about a procrastinator, but I did what I wanted and had the papers I was estatic with! I love using DP with my cards, but still likie making my own back grounds too.

I use it but not all of the time. I'm going to make sure I mark all of the galleries/blogs of those here who don't use it because once I've used up what I have, I'd like to not be tempted by it anymore and have more space!
I have always loved beautiful patterns in paper or fabric and being sewing-challenged, paper has won on that front. I have saved a bundle by not purchasing new linens, clothing, etc., because if a design catches my eye, I say - well, I'll just make a card inspired by that! Sometimes it involves patterned paper but not always.
So I'm ready to be inspired to use less. Part of my problem will always be that I try a little bit of every style of cards ~ kind of wish so many didn't appeal to me. I'd love to know right where I'm at design-wise. Some of the ladies on this thread I know have recognizable styles and I envy that.
Like Patty, I think the CAS with patterned paper thread has some incredible inspiration, too!!!
I have a ton of DP…probably enough to wall paper at least 3 rooms in my house LOL. I try to use it but I'm not real good with it but I still buy it. Paper fetish maybe ?

I've actually seen some pictures (probably here!) of people who have used some sheets to put a wallpaper-like border in their craft room or even simply frame several sheets and hang them across the top of a wall. pretty!
I do love PP and use it quite often. When I use PP on a card I will often use the same or a coordinating pattern to cover my envelope flap--so dang cute! But a little PP goes a long way so I'm careful of my purchases.
I like SU PP but I only buy a pack if I have plenty of coordinating paper, ink, ribbon etc. in my stash. I don't buy PP just because it is on sale, you might say I've learned from my mistakes!
Have a great stamping day.

I can't get enough designer paper. I have a VERY hard time creating a card without designer paper. Just last week I bought $35 worth of paper at Hobby Lobby during the "all paper is 50% off sale".
I love cards that don't have designer paper on them, I just can't figure how to make them myself.
This thread caught my eye so I went to my gallery to see what my style is. apparently I use DP for almost every card! :o And then if I can't find the colors I want I recolor digi papers and I have also used some very pretty patterned digi. Here is a link to my gallery
I have tons of DP and I tend to cut out the designs and use it for focals. I do have some I no longer want and I'm donating it to a crop for breast cancer to use as a give away or for their auctions. Then I get a nice tax deduction after all the money I spent! I've been trying only to buy 8x8 and smaller but sometimes I can't resist some design in a 12x12.
I buy dp all the time I have a ton. I don't know how to use it on my cards unless I am caseing someone. I was embarrassed, good to know I am not alone.
I have a fair amount also from the era of collecting everything I could. But I rarely use it. Like someone else said, I have returned to the more 'old school' style of cardstock and embossing more than DP. But I have a 12 x 12 tote filled with lots of sheets from here and there and once in awhile I rummage through it to see if anything newly inspires me.
I love DP. I am a card maker. I am always afraid the 12x 12 sizewill will get lost or bend. So I came up with a plan to cut in to 8X11 and put it in page protectors in a blinder. I keep it cut to most used sizes so I can quickly make cards. That way I can see it and cut it to the right size for my card. It works for me.
i find i reach for my 6x6 pads of paper the most - maily because i know they will all match. my pads of 12x12 papers are all a bit neglected because they are hidden away in a box but i am looking to remedy that with a new storage idea.
i would def recommend buying pads of papers rather than indivi sheets as you will waste hours trying to find something that will match!!
Oh, I LOVE dp's!! There are so many gorgeous ones being released all the time. I love 6 x 6 paper pads and it's great that so many companies have been releasing them in that size - and it means I get co-ordinating sheets. Maybe I'm a little nutty, but I love the smell of a new paper pad or dp's - kind of reminds me of my childhood when at the start of a new school year, I would get all new paper and folders and pencils and books - the "smell" of that new stationery was so nice. Everything was so fresh and clean. Please tell me I am not alone LOL.........;)
I use it alot to make die cut flowers or butterflies, mat images. I stopped buying the 12x12 and use the small packs..>Have so much that I don't buy anymore. I find I love using them for envelopes, and when I make collages. I think they look great on canvas and you paint over them and peel away parts to "distress".
I'm addicted to 6X6 paper pads (mainly Basic Grey). The prints are smaller and work better on cards. I think a lot of people end up with so much cause they like to "save" it! USE it!! That's my new motto, then you can buy more, right?

I agree I need to use it. But I think I might try pads of 6x6... from stampin up. I don't like a lot of the sheets I bought because I thought they were cute or nice at the time and they just dont work with what I am doing.
I have TONS of DP and looking at my cards I see that I seldom use them. I guess I am just a hoarder.
I should probably write a big note to myself and leave on my craft table "use DP." You ladies are right.... use it, buy more as there is always pretty DP coming out.

I think your right. I bought so many sheets of 12 x 12 paper when I first started and cut it up into 6x6 but most of it doesnt really work for my cards.
