I have not stamped for at least 4 years and I'm finally ready to part with my things, but I don't know where to start. I previously took almost all my stamps off their blocks and broke up the sets, putting them in categories in a binder, flowers, different holidays, etc. There are over 10 binders full with all of them in trading card pages. Do I need to take pics of every page? Most are SU, but not all. I really don't know how to price them either.
Any suggestions would be helpful. TIA
Your best bet would be to spend some time on a site like eBay just to do research. Look up how "lots" are sold or whatever descriptions you can think of. Hopefully, that will give you are starting point.
If you find that some are not worth selling, there are charities who would welcome supplies for their efforts.
You may need to group the SU sets back together, as that is how a buyer would search on Ebay. You would also get a better price for a full set. Too much trouble to sell individually or try to sell as a themed group, but removed from sets.
You would need to think of how you would title your listings, and "Stampin Up Flowers" would be too wide a search for a buyer.
Thanks for your suggestions. I will donate some to the place where I started stamping, a small card workshop, Logantucky Notes, at a mental hospital where I worked.
I have started looking up my inventory list on eBay. I agree that I should put the sets back together.
Thanks again.
I've sold most of my stamping supplies at local stamp/scrap store customer garage sales... many people will be happy to buy them grouped by theme if the work of sorting and reorganizing them becomes overwhelming for you. It depends on how much you have. Honestly, I think going for volume sales at garage sale prices is worth it if you don't focus on how much you paid for things, kwim? If you enjoyed them, got your use out of them, and valued them when you were stamping, then just turn that into cash and don't stress out over it. I made hundreds of $ doing this because I felt I paid for what I used and this was bonus. Even recently, I sold some old wood-mounted stamps and a ton of kids craft things, foam kits, foam stickers... and still made over $70 from two boxes of items.
I guess it depends on if you are looking for serious collectors/stampers looking for complete sets, but the last time I shopped around to see what some of those older sets were selling for, it wasn't much.
If you can find a local store that has a customer garage sale (they usually do them in spring or fall, and some places will let you have your own sale - one place I went to let me pick a Saturday and then notified their 7-800 customers. Seriously, those ladies were a blast!), then just sort by theme and put them in baggies.
I have a local site on facebook that we can list our items and sell. I also have friends who own a type of "pop-up" scrapbooking store and had a crafting garage sale that I sold all of my items except for two things. I priced to get out the door so it was great. Check and see if you have this available. It is nice to make a few dollars from your unused stuff. If you lived closer I would have taken your things and sold them this past weekend. I rocked two friends' stuff out the door.
