Default Does anyone NOT buy the in colours?

I was just debating whether I should or shouldnt bother with the in colours this year. I really do like them, but I always feel super panicky at the end of the year when they are retiring and I feel the need to "stock up" on the colours so I dont run out ... This year I was just thinking of skipping them altogether, to avoid that feeling at the end of the year. Is there anyone else who doesnt get drawn in by the wonderful new colours? Let me know your thoughts!

I bought the In Colors the first 2 years, stocked up on the cardstock and reinkers before they retired, but then ended up selling most of it later. I just didn't use the old In Colors after they retired as much as I thought I would. So this past year I skipped them completely... and I didn't miss them at all. So I won't be buying any of the new 09/10 In Colors. It's nice to already have that decided, so I can focus on buying all the other new stuff when I get my new catty!

I buy them and use them during the year they're current. I don't really worry about stocking up at the end of the year though. I guess I don't have a problem with the "limited" aspect of it all. Sort of like Basic Grey or other companies that produce their papers for awhile and then move on to the next "in" trend...I use it while it's available. Probably by the time it's out, I've already moved on to the next cool thing anyway, kwim?

I have bought the in-color paper and re-inkers every year and I plan to do so in the future. I like having new options beyond the standard 48 colors. Especially since I only use about 1/3 of those on a regular basis.

I usually buy the combo pack of paper (the one with 6 sheets of the 6 colors) just to see what I like and will use. Then I re-stock only the ones that I have been using throughout the year. This year I LOVED the kiwi, baja and riding hood so I have lots of that cardstock.

I agree that after they are retired, I don't tend to use most of them as much. But I do use them. And those that I don't end up using, I sell on ebay for at least as much as I paid for them so I really don't regret my purchases at all.

me. Don't buy them; don't use them. Guess that makes me the odd (wo)man out. Purchasing limited-time only feels like a game and not one I enjoy. For me, there's just way too much product on the market to be put in that position with one company. ;)

I don't buy them as a rule. I don't like the whole retirng idea at all! that said I did really love Pink Piroquette so I bought the reinker (made my own pad w/a minicube) and 8.5 x11 pack of paper. I did buy the River rock paper and was sorry I did s I don't use it at all.

I don't. Even the ones I like. I don't have the room! Although I must say that the riding hood red was mighty tempting this year.

I like having as many color choices as I can. That's why I buy SU, CTMH, Versamagic, Stazon, Momento, Brilliance, among others. Having tons of color choices makes me happy. So having 6 new colors of SU each year makes me really happy, LOL~

I don't have an EXACT match for 1/2 of my ink pads, so running out of the cardstock doesn't bother me at all. I'll find something close and go with that.

I think I'm an ink pad junkie.

I only buy the ones I really like. I'm not really liking the ones for this year but I will wait and look at a few samples before I make a decision.

I love the colors this year and the DSP Razzleberry lemonade I have used almost the whole pack and that is not something I normally do. I will have a couple more packs on my first order in July. The only color I was having a little trouble loving was the crushed curry but have used it now and love it. My favorites are the rich razzleberry and the melon mambo. they are so yummy!

Nope, don't do the In Color thing. But I won't deny, Riding Hood Red was one of the prettiest reds yet. I know I'd never be able to keep up so I don't start. I usually try to save my end of the year budget for a couple of retiring sets and that's about it.

Like was said earlier, I think it's a pressure gimic that I don't buy into.

I only buy them if I like them. This was the first year I bought them. I only got them for SCS color challenges. I refuse to buy anything but paper, no markers or inks for me. It's just another way for SU to try to suck my hard earned money out of my hands.

I didn't all the way up until this year when I got hooked by a "Free" asst In Color paper pack my demo gave me. Sucked me in to at least getting more of the P Pink and RHR. I didn't need a new ink as I had something already that matched as well or better than the IC ink so just a little paper. I'm hoping (and constantly writing SU) about having the IC around longer if not exactly permanant to the line as well as bringing back old favorites. I am hoping they listen eventually.

Can't say I'm crazy about this years in colours, and I do have the paper from my wonderful demo. But not sure that I am going to purchase any of the ink pads, or many of the papers. Guess I'll see.

I don't purchase the in colors because I have enough trouble making color combos from the original 48.

I wasn't planning on buying any until my demo told me there are markers this year. I didn't want to buy paper without buying ink and I don't really care for SU's full size pads. But with the markers I think I'll get some assorted packs of cs.

I have yet been able to resist them - they are always so wonderful in combination with one another. BUT .... I am totally over the idea that I have to stock up on them. There are plenty of colors to love and I'm not going to stress out over having certain ones.

I love the latest ones and will get some of each probably... but when those packs are gone ~ they're gone. And I'm okay with that!

I usually only buy a couple of colors--the ones I truly like--and then it's usually cardstock only. The only color I wish I would've stocked up on is Cool Caribbean. The rest I don't have a problem saying good-bye to. I do enjoy having a few new colors to play with, but I don't feel like I *have* to own them all!

This doesn't really answer your question, but...
I think my plan of action will be to use up my InColours DSP and CS as fast as I can, and then start experimenting with the inks (and now the markers too!) to see what kinds of DSP I can create myself. There are a lot of great tutorials for techniques on SCS. I figure, if I don't use the supplies, it's a waste of money.

Having said that, I'm not so sure I'll go all out for these InColours like I did for the last set. Although I really do like the Razzleberry.

I don't.

I bought the in colors twice and thought it was a waste of money when they retired.

While I think its a good marketing ploy for SU, I would rather spend the dollar amount of inkpads, paper, etc on something else.

The first year I just bought the Cool Carribbean ink pad and quite a bit of paper. The following year I bought 1 package of 5 of the colors and some of the ribbon but not the ink pads. Last year I didn't like the colors that much and refused to let myself get suckered in.

This year I'm on the fence. Like two years ago, I absolutely love the ribbon they're offering, and I really like 3 of the colors. So I haven't made up my mind yet. I have noticed that I don't use the colors much after they retire, so I'm going to try to buy them early on instead of late in the year like I did before, and then make decisions about stocking up later on. The fact that there's markers this time around is making this very tempting, because then I wouldn't have to buy an ink pad.

I just buy the ones I love and I always end up with plenty of leftovers without going into a panic. I definitely do not buy them all just to have them.

Like another poster mentioned (sorry forgot who!) it's the same with any DP...if I love it now, I don't skip it just because someday it will be discontinued.

May I ask where you get your mini cubes from to make your own pads and if they come totally empty or with felt in them? Thank you!

I get the assorted pack of cardstock to determine which colors I absolutly love and just buy them. If I have really used it and love it, I get an extra reinker and packgage of cardstock. I also alway buy the matching ribbon.

This year the colors don't seem so different from other colors that I can't live without them. Space as also become an issue for me.

I have been, but I'm kinda temped to stop. I'm getting sick of getting a new favorite color (like Pomegranate, Soft Sky and Baja Breeze) and then not being able to get anymore. I don't see why they can't just add some of them to the regular color families. I think they do it to generate more sales from the people that can afford to go crazy stocking up...some of us can't buy 5 packs of paper and reinkers of each of our favorite colors before they go. This year if I buy any, it will only be 3 of the colors, since the rest of them are just a shade lighter/darker than the regular colors, and what is the point in that? Honestly, I think they whole "In Color" idea is stupid! The colors from last year, and the year before aren't out now. SU just trys to make us think these are the hot colors so we will think they need them. I think it would be much better if they added a few new colors to the regular 48 more often.

I am like Anna741 - I bought the first two years and now I never use them!

And, like Binx, I hate the 'limited time only' feel I get from the In Colours! It's not like a stamp set that will stamp the same in 20 years as it does now.

I've heard of others making their own mini pads but just don't see the point! If the colors are so great, add them into the permanent list! Otherwise, don't bother!

I do like dawnmercedes's plan though! Just one pack of assorted paper for the challenges and then let the rest go!

Nope, I don't either, and too hate the hype generated to create an influx of sales. Great scam. I just buy what I like.

I buy what I like - I bought them all two years ago and still use them. I didn't buy any of the outgoing ones; just not into that and refused to get sucked in. The new ones? I absolutely LOVE some of these and will probably add 4 of them to my collection (and the markers). Still debating on whether to buy the pads, too, or just markers.

This year was the first time I bought any SU stuff - tried to avoid it. But I did buy a pack of all the in colours this year and the re-inkers (made my own ink spots). I have enough in-colours now to last me for a couple years at the rate I use my stuff, so I have no need or desire to buy anymore SU stuff for a while. Besides with their price hikes for Canadians, I doubt that I'll buy anything from them for quite a while unless its something I absolutely have to have - which I haven't found with SU stuff yet. I'm not knocking SU, most of their stamps just aren't my style.

I love the variety and yes I stock up on faves and comtinue to use them. I am not a demo so I can use whatever I'm in the mood for. Kiwi just goes sooo well with olive and I even hated it when I first saw it! There is nothing like pomegranate and Bayou goes with Not Quite.

This year the curry looks funky to me, but someone showed me the satin ribbon colored with that ink and it is a gorgeous, rich gold, so I will invest in that. I start with a mixed pack and see what I am drawn to.

my favorite part of stampin up, on this site, is the color challenges.
The great thing about buying the colors now, is the gallery is full of colorful,
beautiful decorated cards to look at and be inspired. My whole thing about card
making is the challenge to plan out a card. Here they give you the color combo,
which usually include a lot of the in-colors, and so much inspiration. It saves me
a lot of time planning cards and color combos. I'm not a demo, so I don't care
that they are retiring and I stocked up to use the colors I love especially
kiwi kiss, and colors that go with it. A demo wouldn't probably use them after
they are retired, because they can't sell it anymore.

The first two years I bought some (not all) of the In Colors; and when the year was up, I bought a couple extra packs of my favorites. I just broke into my last pack of Blue Bayou and Groovy Guava. I actually still have two packs of River Rock. Last year I said NO. I decided I did not want to become enamoured with a color and then never see it again after the year was up. And I'm not buying any this year either -- although that suede is talking to me!

I'm with you! And thanks because I couldn't of put it in words any better. I did once but will NEVER do it again.

I didn't buy them last year or this year. I bought the in colors the first year they came out and rarely use them. Seems like a waste of money so I skipped them this year and used the money to buy Cuttlebug and Nesties instead.
