Default Digi Shocker

I was recently introduced to the idea of digital stamps. I was on this thread looking at them here: Forums at Splitcoaststampers

I ran across THE CUTEST STAMPS ever here: http://buysassystudiodesigns.blogspot.com/ and I immediately purchased 6 stamps.

I usually find all my inspiration in the gallery here and it leads me to buy from different stamp companies. Well for the first time ever, it was the opposite and I saw these images first, purchased them and then came back here it see the 100s of examples using these adorable images....or so I thought. I typed in sassy studios in the gallery search and was just plain shocked. There are very few cards made with these images, less than 40 cards.

Like I said, I am was just introduced to the whole digital concept but now I am wondering how many more I will purchase. I am not a creative genius and I case almost everything I do. It seems like I can't make a card without looking at the pages and pages of awesome cards you guys make with the images I own. Is there something about digital images that do not appeal to people and that is why there was not a single card made with any of the 6 images I bought from sassy studios?

I would really like to hear your thoughts on digital images before I purchase anymore images. Thanks.

I think some people just love rubber and ink! I can't do the digi thing- I just can't get in to it- that's just me though- I am certain there are MANY people who love this new digi world, and there are SO MANY places popping up selling them it's hard to keep up!

I just checked out the site - cute stamps!! I don't know which ones you bought but it seems to me you could use Hanna stamps or Bella for inspiration since the images are of the same type. It won't help with any future purchases, but it might help with what you have now.

I like my digital images and own several from different artists and a lot of those artists have websites with their own galleries. You might try looking there ( I know, not on SCS? Does that world even exist?)

That is a good idea since the ones I bought are the girls. I got the cotton candy one, the lollipop girl, soda girl, cocoa girl, leave girl and one more. I do love Hannah stamps so I can probably get some great inspiration from cards using their stamps.

I'm just now learning about the digi stamps. I downloaded a few free ones that I found. I have trouble with my cardstock going through the printer and I'm not using anything really thick. What kind of paper do you guys use?

There are some really cute digis out there. I haven't decided whether I really like them or not.

I think you should buy what you like no matter what anyone else thinks. It sounds like you're having lots of fun, and you'll probably come up with your own cards that will look wonderful in the Gallery and bring that number way above 40. Enjoy what you buy, and buy what you enjoy. Happy stamping!

I think you will find that all around for digital stamps...digi stamps/images just became popular only a few months ago. I actually became a DT member for a couple of them because I love using them so much. But I think because there are so many out there to choose from that the galleries aren't full of hybrid cards/projects.

You can find an extensive list on my blog here: http://stampingmutt.blogspot.com/200...tal-sites.html

After seeing this list, you'll see why there are only a few samples from some of the digi companies. I totally love using digi stamps because they are so storage friendly and love that you can resize them to your needs.

My plain white Georgia-Pacific cardstock from Walmart goes great through my computer printer. I don't think it makes a great card base, but it layers just great and most people layer anyway.

Extensive list indeed! Went right into my favorites in case I fall in love with digital stamps. By the way, I was introduced to digital stamps because a good friend makes some and shared some images with me. I am sure she would love to be added to your list. http://www.shophandmade.com/Store/Doodlestreet

Mnay of us will not use digi stamps so that will cut down Gallery searches.
I myself like inking and stamping and I have found some awesome images for digi stamps but will not buy them because they are digi.

IMHO, As a software engineer I spend all day at the computer... so getting home and working with REAL paper and ink and tools, etc is really a stress reliever for me. I've tried the digi thing, but it just isn't the same as working with my cutters, punches, glitter, etc.

That sentiment aside, Digi I would assume would be a LOT cheaper than actual stamping and coloring. Those digi images are way more artistic than what I can actually produce myself! Kudos to you for actually using Digi.. not everyone can swing it.. so give yourself a good pat on the back! I second ScrapJanny ... you should buy what you like and upload those to the gallery .. maybe a few more converts will join you!

Most people using digi are still doing the colouring - mostly it's line art, so it's just the same as stamping line art, IYSWIM.

Back to the OP - I like the magic of a stamp and ink and just don't get the same sense of joy if I try working with digis but everyone likes different things, right? It sounds like your problem is with having nothing to case on these. I think the suggestion to look for similar images rather than the same images is a good one. You might also want to look at some things like sketch challenges - you'll get a layout to work with and can have some fun deciding how to combine your images with the layout.

I have been toying with trying some digital images but have not yet. The site you posted is not my style. I have seen many cute images that I am tempted to try..for me just finding time to try something new is a big feat....blessings.

oh yea you do a card the same with punches scissors and all that good stuff. Its just printing the image and doing the same as you would do any card.
Digiscrapbooking would be everything on the computer. But cards are done the same.

MyGrafico has a lot of digis and even for digiscrapbookers, fun fun stuff.

There are lots of great things about digital stamps, one is the cost! It's not much of an investment to try an image out to see if you like it. like the Flourishes paper the best, I like the weight of it and the printer ink really sucks in so I don't get any bleeding.

Yes, my main point was that I am a caser and was hoping to find lots of samples using the exact image that I purchased. I love the images I bought and would do it all over again even with no samples. The suggestion to look at similar images is a good one. I really do need to try a challenge or two. I have never done one and my cards sort of all look the same. I am sure doing the challenges would greatly help me.

I did print out my images onto GP paper like was suggested. I also stamped a similar Hannah stamp on the same paper right beside it and you cannot tell the difference at all between the stamped image and the printed image. I used my aqua painter on both just to see if the lines ran but nope, they were both perfect. I even ran the girl back through the printer 2 times with different patterned paper so I can paper piece her clothing and it worked like a charm. I just might have become addicted to these due to the lower costs. I can still color them myself, use patterned paper, and embellish just like before. I own a ton of rubber and I am very sure that I will continue to use them all the time in addition to my new digis.

I am one of the ones who don't really like digital. ALTHOUGH, i was making a card for my dad to celebrate his retirement, and i wanted a stamp that would fit the occassion perfectly and I ended up finding it in a digital stamp!

I just didn't like the process..

But, more to the point. Start using sketches or inspiration challenges to help put a card together so you don't have to rely on exact CASEs..

I haven't gotten into the digi stamps yet, but I am sure I will. I think using sketch challenges and such is a great idea. Don't stop buy images you like just because other people aren't using them (or aren't posting cards with them).

I love digi stamps. They are versatile (you can print them any size you want, flip them, etc.) They do not take up room to store. You can do most everything you do with a traditional stamp including paper piecing & embossing. There are lots of great tutorials out there. I use digi stamps almost exclusively now. Check out my blog if you would like to take a look.

I think stampers are just getting into or are on the fence about digi's. Several of my friends don't consider them "stamps".... even though I bet I can use it on a card and they would never know. But I love them!!! They are terrific and there are so many out there now.

Good luck!

when you print click on properties and go to paper set up- selectionchange the paper to cardstock that you are printing

I downloaded a "freebie" of a digi stamp, it was a gingerbread house, but when I went to make it a little larger, the image became all pixelated/fuzzy. Is there something I did wrong when downloading?

Sometimes you have to click on the stamp (especially the freebies) and then right click, save as..... other wise it is just a smaller picture that doesn't increase in size well.

I actually downloaded a "freebie" of a poinsettia that I found here on another thread and that saved as a very large image and so I was able to downsize it OK. Also I did it in Photoshop and not in my scrapbooking program that I usually use, so maybe I will try and find the gingerbread houses again and try them again in Photoshop. I didn't think though that the outline was as dark and crisp as a rubber stamp though, and I did print the best quality I could through Photoshop.

I love rubber and love digital too.... I think many users on SCS are very much more traditional. I've found that to talk digi's (and find lots of freebies) Paper Craft Planet has more groups and a bigger digital following. Some of my favorite digital companies have very active groups over there.... my favorite right now is Michelle Perkett Studios. The images are fabulous! Check it out and tell her Anjou sent you!
