Default Dick Blick new flat rate shipping

Did anyone else get the email about Dick Blick offering new flat rate shipping of $4.95? I think it's mostly continental US but this is a happy development.

There are so many items on the website that are a fantastic price per unit but it never made much sense with their high shipping rates. I see some new PITT pens and a set of Neocolor II crayons in my future :-)

wavejumper, we're missing your weekly sale notice but maybe this will fill in for a bit :-)

I saw it. I posted about it on the announcements board. Told you guys to pay attention to that board! LOL In the face of the amazon rise, this sounds like a good alternative plus they have a lot of stuff amazon does not.

Aw thanks Poppy. ((hugs)) I have VERY limited internet access this week. :( I am dashing through right now. I am having gallery withdrawl!

I got that email a few days back. It's exciting!

Did you also notice that you can use Amazon money on DickBlick??? I'm not sure how that works. I have a peanut can full of change that I've been planning to take to CoinStar and exchange for an Amazon gift card. I think I'll put my soda can money there, too.

I was hoping to get some nice colored pencils. Maybe I'll just save up and get the ones I really want from DickBlick, a handful at a time instead of a tin of 60. (Blame this desire on our enabler friend, Linda.)

Be careful about getting started with those Pitt pens. I bought one big brown and a small black--then I had to go back and get six more of the big ones--green, yellow, orange, red, blue and gray.

Oh, I'm already there LOL Started with black, got a brown, then got the Landscape pack (gorgeous colors) and a Big Brush white, a couple of gray… but I think open stock is the way to go because you can pick and choose your most used colors. So even though I don't have them, I've heard great things so I will also enable you on those pencils

I hope other places lower their rates now that the USPS has lowered its rates! Yea!!!
See below:

USPS to Reduce Rates on April 10, 2016

by Paul Kovlakas | February 29, 2016 | 0 Comments

You read that correctly: this April the U.S. Postal Service will be reducing postage rates for Mailing Services products, including First-Class Mail, Standard Mail, and Periodicals.
Why a reduction?

Like much of the country, the Postal Service was hit hard during the Great Recession. When economic activity dropped off, so did mailing – which, in turn, caused Postal Service revenues to drop off as well.

The Postal Service proposed – and was granted by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) – a 4.3 percent temporary, emergency price increase, also known as an exigent surcharge. The surcharge went into effect in January 2014 and is required to be eliminated once the USPS recouped the estimated revenue loss from the Great Recession.

The postal service estimates it will have recouped the losses and plans to reduce prices on April 10, 2016.

What that means for mailers is that, unless Congress intervenes to the contrary, the Postal Service will be lowering rates an average of 4.3 percent across its Mailing Services on April 10th.

The new price is in place if any one wants to order stamps. We're back to 47 cents.
