Does anybody else find that for the past little while the comments have dropped off dramatically. I know we shouldn't feel bad when we don't get comments but when you post a card and one day later you have none. You do kinda feel bad and wonder why?
I guess I hadn't noticed. It's not unusual for some of my cards to go quite a while without comments. That's why I participate in the comment thread. I would guess the drop off has to do with the sheer number of cards that get posted on SCS every day!
If you have cards with no comments, send me a PM and I will be glad to take a look at them and leave a comment! :-)
I wonder if some of the drop off in comments has to do with the weather getting warmer? I know that I am outside so much more now and don't get on the computer as much. During the winter I spent hours and hours on the site but now I am only on here for a few minutes at a time. Don't know if the drop off is kind of a cyclical thing or not.

I noticed around the time that the comments were getting fewer, the site seemed to be responding very "slowly". Maybe some of those who would have left comments just didn't want to wait for the pages to load.....? Just a thought!
Today is Tax Day and I noticed that most mornings there are well over 1500 on here when I log on, but this morning there were only about 700 - so weather, taxes, and the site being slow could all contribute.
Karen, I went and looked at a few pages of your gallery and your cards are very nice - I really liked the blue tree crayon resist from last Nov. Your colors are fun and your cards all show a consistent good quality. It isn't you. I just think it is all the reasons above. When I go to the gallery, I look for something different that sparks my imagination and I often comment on cards that have no comments yet. Don't know what others do but that's what I do - there are so so many nice ones...and so little time.

Just wondering if it is just me?
It is so much fun to get comments on your cards. When I've spent time working on a card, I like to get comments from the SCS *pros*. My DH always says the cards look nice, but that's part of his husbandly duties. I think sometimes the photo doesn't do justice to the card and it just doesn't grab attention.

I've seen a few other threads about the same thing. I think it's partly the huge number of uploads each day and that the blogs have something to do with it too. If you go to 'today's additions' on the home page, you'll notice how rapidly images are being entered into the galleries. I think once your card is on the second or third page, the likelihood of being noticed is lessened quite a bit.
There were a lot of remarks made elsewhere that the cards with the highest comments are usually for challenges. I think most of the people participating in the challenges visit eachother's and leave comments. Challenges can be fun (I've only done one myself) and rather than just following a pattern, it can just be a jumping off point for your own creativity.
I do have to agree though - it seems that I used to get more comments even a year ago. I am now to the point of being pretty impressed if someone favorites a card of mine! Views are good too! Also, if the feedback is really important to you, there are comment threads where you just reply and visit the gallery of the person you're replying after.

I have noticed the decline in comments. I rarely get comments unless I use the comment thread, so now others are like me! DH is very supportive, but will also tell me "This is a nice card, but not as nice as the others you make." Yes, I personally enjoy cardmaking and scrapbooking, but I need validation, too!

Ah yes... the husbands are a real riot, aren't they?! Not only does my husband have a *LOW* tolerance for stamping ~~ try this - he has a color deficiency. He can always say... 'You know, I don't really see the colors the same way you do.' Sometimes the browns look gray, the greens look brown, the orange looks green, the pink looks gray, the purple looks blue -- when he likes something, I start to wonder if the colors are really awful LOL!!
One day he and I will make two cards -- that look the same to him, but will look vastly different to us!! *That* will be interesting
