Do you:
Make winter-themed/Christmas cards all year long
Make them all in one month
Don't make them at all
I like to make them all year long. They are my absolute favorite cards to make and photograph. Winter/Christmas cards are my prettiest photographed cards for some reason and they are the easiest. I feel loads of joy as I put together Christmas cards. I really don't know why that is but I wish I could make one at least once a week just for the happiness factor!
Hmmm, I like to make them all year long too. ( but, I have been very lacking for both Winter & Christmas this year) I really need to get back on the ball with that. So, I have been upstairs the last couple of hours diecutting some sentiments I had stamped previously on scraps... and the whole time I am standing there pretty much roasting, and I am thinking to my self I should take a moment to turn on the portable AC.
so, I walked over to the computer and walked in front of it... its ON and Running.
Haha, Stacy, a friend and I were just talking about the fun of being older and SO HOT. Hehe, I wish I meant that in a non-temp way! I hope it cools down for you soon. It's beginning to cool here just a bit! Woohoo! I keep thinking that September is still a long way off. We start having pleasant days the last week of September. But here we are IN SEPTEMBER. My sense of time has been totally messed up since Covid began.
Angie, I love seeing winter cards and they are some of my favorites too, but I make very few of them. I only make a handful of Christmas cards for some family members and usually closer to Christmas. I don't seem to get inspired for Christmas cards til the weather cools off.
Speaking of that...oh yes, Stacey, getting old is a blast (of hot air!). And once you start with those fun "flashes", they can really make you sweat. LOL.
Oh yeah, insomnia...another fun time in our eld. I just read an article today that said the #1 sleep aid to incorporate in your diet is tart cherries or tart cherry juice. I am not a "tart" fan so I would need to combine it with something to make it more palatable. I'm thinking jello shots -- that way if the cherries don't work the booze might. LOL. Good luck. It's really not fun when you can't sleep.

Debbie! You are making me laugh! Do you know, I have never had a jello shot. I have always been such a great sleeper but old age is getting me there. Sleep can be a tricky thing. And why if we can't sleep are we so tired during the day? Just not fair!
Brenda has been a hostess for many challenges here at SCS over the years, the most recent being the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge. She is such a dear friend and always has a positive word. Let's shower her with sunshine after an injury to her knee has sidelined her!
Oh, I did have Jello shots once at a Halloween party. ( sweet, they were very sweet and I could taste the vodka) (and I was told vodka has no flavor... lie)
I have actually tried Irish creme in coffee, but if I drink I fall asleep, the trouble is I don't stay asleep and the insomnia is worse. so, that doesn't work for me.
most of my friends are older than me and they all agree it gets better... but, there does not seem to be an agreement of when it gets better kicks in
May I suggest cake? :lolo: Seriously though, if you haven’t come across it, try googling “hrt cake” or “menopause cake” for recipes. I used this one for quite a while a couple of years back. It’s not your gooey coffee shop treat (there’s no sugar added) but it’s palatable and I think it does help. I’m sure there will be similar recipes out there with the cup measures you guys are more used to using.

It does get better Stacy, but everyone's timeline is different and so is the "better". For me -- hot flashes and insomnia got better but migraines didn't and I now I have a strong reaction to even a little alcohol (allergy?) so I don't drink at all anymore. I was never a big drinker, but sometimes I miss the social drinking. Hang in. As they say (whoever "they" are), Evertything changes; Nothing stays the same.

YAY its *almost* sweater weather in my part of the world. ( our high on Sunday is being predicted to be 59... I can't hardly wait... and rain, we are supposed to get dumped on) (crossing fingers here)
there is yet to be a single cloud in the sky but, there is hope...

It is hot and muggy here. :( I knew that the early fall feeling we received the first week of September was misleading.
I posted a card to the Featured Stamper gallery today colored in Fall Colors I would LOVE to see!
The Teapot Challenge is Lighthouses MMTPT687 - September 21, 2021 - Lighthouses by snietje at Splitcoaststampers The destination is to one of our newest Dirty Girls DIL! Debbie is a school teacher and has had to go back to school on crutches and wear a mask. Yikes. I find it difficult in the summer just to walk with a mask, let alone wear one while on crutches!
I would love to know if you are working on an art project that is taking you longer than you thought!

Oh my yes! My art journal project with my two stamping pals. Not because the individual pages take so long, but because I just can't seem to be inspired to do them right now. It's been months since I dabbled and I am sorely lagging in my commitment here,
And, yes, nearly every card I make takes me longer (often much longer) than I expect. But I love the process and I'm happily retired so it's all good. LOL
Ok, so let's talk favorites!
Do you have a favorite monster stamp set?
Do you have a favorite way to make a pocket?
Recently I made a super simple pocket. I just cut a small piece of cardstock the width of my A2 card. I stamped a pretty border on the pocket and glued it to the card front. Super simple, and pretty!
I don't have a favorite for either, but I have always liked the Dustin Pike Monsters (they are digis). I rarely use pockets so I haven't really explored all the possibilities for this; but, I like your simple pocket idea, Angie.
Hello, raising my head above the parapet rather than lurking I think I only have one monster set and that’s a really old Technique Tuesday one called Monsters Ink which is fun rather than scary! I did recently get Frankenstein from Carmen’s Veranda though, he’s kind of monstrous! I used him here.
I don’t really use pockets although I remember years ago making a card that looked like the pocket of a western style shirt that turned out just like the idea in my head (happens surprisingly rarely!). Looks like I didn’t put it in the gallery but I have managed to find it on my blog — 2009, eek!
Dustin Pike has a very distinctive style, doesn’t he? His monsters are cute!
I don't have a favorite monster stamp set - I don't have any monster stamp sets! I see them on other people's cards and they look cute but I don't have occasion to make monster cards, I guess.
I also don't usually make pockets so don't have a favorite for that either.
This is the first year I have made Halloween cards. There is a person here who has requested cards for an assisted living center where her parents live and I made cards for her earlier in the summer. Now she has asked those who have sent cards before to send more for Halloween and Christmas. My mother had a lot of Halloween stamp sets as she made them for shut-ins. My daughter made sure and got those sets when Mom passed away, so those sets have been used a lot recently. This daughter loves Halloween and has purchased more to add to the collection. All came to be on my desk for me to create with. I made a total of 15 Halloween cards. I posted one today for the monster theme. There are more with the same monster. The Boo to You set from SU has that monster who reminds me of Monsters Inc movie. He was fun to color. I personally own two sets that have anything to do with Halloween other than pumpkins and fall sets. Thankfully I have a daughter who still lives at home and loves everything Halloween, so I ask her to bring out the supplies if I need them.

How great that you share this fun passion with your daughter...and that she collects stamps that you don't. I wish my stamp buddies lived closer by so we could share stamps more often. There are so many, like monsters, that you may only need once but would love to have for just that one time.

That Frankenstein is great and love the card you made with him.
I actually have two monster sets ( Avery Elle & Janes Doodles) who knew? ( I've used the Avery elle one once but, I have a really old Kidstamps stamp of one of the monsters from Where the Wild Things are and I've used it a few times over the years.
