Stacy, I've found that if I layer a heavier piece of cardstock or thin bubble padding over my cards with embellishments, I can usually get them mailed with no problem.
It also depends on the postal worker! I now know who not to go to when waiting in line. LOL
When I mailed about 50 Christmas cards last year, the postal lady was a bit fanatic! She felt every single card and if it had any type of embellishment, she set it aside and said it had to be hand stamped and would cost extra. She said it doesn't matter whether it fits through the postal slot to check for thickness, it's the unevenness that messes with the machine. She was talking very loudly and making quite a production of it. She even called to a postal worker from the back to come out and tell me that it jams their machines with these embellished cards. This all took place while many others were waiting. After she kept lecturing me about the "hazards" and inconvenience, I grabbed the rest of the stack and said I'd take them home and fix them. She was quite worked up! I think she needed a stiff drink or a sedative! Talk about "postal."

SO... there was a nice person working today at the PO and a flat no knot ribbon card could make it to England on the 1.73 worth of stamps I had on the envelope...

Oh, my word! They can be sooooo mean. I refuse to go anywhere but our little post office down the road. She is so sweet. But now and then she gets a new postal worker and they can be rude. Still, it's the best place in the county! So sorry that happened to you. Sheesh!
I had a week somewhat disrupted by real life...and there was no MIX challenge posted yesterday (haven't checked this morning) which was a little disappointing. Yesterday was likely my only stamping time till next week and there wasn't much of it after I'd waited till lunchtime to see if the challenge went up, so all I did was make another Christmas card. I hope folks had a safe and peaceful, if different, Thanksgiving.

Sorry - I will check with Anna - We all have pie poisoning LOL.
good morning, I actually did/am ( this is day 4 of a 5 day weekend for me and the first time I have had not being at work besides regular weekends all year) so, I have made a ton of Christmas cards I did give the colors, the paint the snowman, the tag & last weeks funny Christmas free for all a whirl so far. (besides the IC)
Thanks, Lydia. I'll play catch-up with it next week.
Yay, Stacy, sounds as if you are making great use of your holiday weekend.
My real life disruption during the week was a family bereavement - and I can tell you, a funeral in lockdown is just so very weird. I'm going to miss making a special Christmas card for my sweet MIL - she used to put them all out every year.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your dear MIL, Sabrina! Big hugs and sympathy to you and your family.
Angie, I did the Teapotter's Zentangle challenge! So much fun.
Tonight, I'm recovering from a nasty run in with a door frame yesterday! 10 staples...such fun! I told the ER Dr. he should have holiday staples in red and green. He thought that was a good idea! LOL

Ouch! And, I agree that if you have to have staples they should be fun and jolly colors. Take care of yourself.
I have literally sat down a dozen times today to post the challenges! Shaking my head. Seems like it's been one fire to put out after the other!
So here goes!
This week we are celebrating Melissa, one of our newest Dirty Girls as Featured Stamper! It's never too late to play in a Splitcoaststampers Challenge so stop by Melissa's gallery and play along or send her a congratulations!
The TLC is to make some plaid with an older technique! It's really cool, I hope you will check it out!
Alrighty, raise your hands if you have ever used the Magical Masking Tape Technique? How about made your own plaid? Now combine the two!
I have used the magical masking tape technique, it's a lot of fun. I love the idea of making plaid that way.
Both Magical Masking Tape and DIY plaid have featured as TLC challenges, so I have done both individually. Looking forward to trying Karen's combination today after work, if I don't crash out on the couch instead . The masking tape is one I actually revisit fairly regularly, since I have found it works well on regular card and I don't need to use glossy.
Sabrina, I too, have always used plain cardstock for magical masking. I thought that was an interesting note about how sometimes the tape sticks. I think my ink has always been plenty wet to keep that from happening?
The Teapot Challenge is for our sweet Rosy. She leaves the nicest comments on cards. She is feeling a little bit down and she loves cats! Hmmmm..... sounds like a card begging to be made!
The Sketch Challenge has three panels on the side that add an extra layer of interest!
The Watercolor Challenge is lanterns and the gallery is so striking filled with glowing lanterns in a snowy blue sky!

I usually de-tack mine a bit by sticking it to my jeans a couple of times.
Gayle is this week's Featured Stamper and her gallery is wonderful! You will find loads of inspiration!
The TLC is Layered Gesso Background. Sabrina, is asking us to make sure and load our cards in the correct Technique Spotlight gallery. She even explains how to do it if you don't know how. I wonder how many times I forget to load a card in the technique category.
The Teapot Challenge - add something that lifts - Destination is Bill; he could really use uplifting.
What have you been working on? What challenges have you been able to participate in? I have been very busy creating but I was shocked to see that my last upload was last Wednesday! Yikes! Have to try to play in a few more challenges this week!
While it was only supposed to last one week, we’ve extended it thru December in hopes that others will have time to join in. The keyword is EyeletWeek.
Oh I sub'd to this thread- the challenges are keeping me sane during Covid! I am a regular in the Alpha challenges and try to do others as well. The past couple of weeks have been a touch hectic, but things will get back to normal soon : )
VSN was great this weekend- I was hoping to get to make more cards, but I have time left to create. The deadline is the 21st!
I will see if I can get all the challenges posted this week! Effective immediately my husband's extra week off a month is over but he is still on a different schedule so my mornings are hopping! Nothing like making supper at 10 in the morning! I took some time off last week for birthday celebrations, yummy food, games and Christmas movies. I tried to get to the computer but.....when my husband is home, I am scatterbrained!
