Stacy, ugh about the fires. I feel bad for anyone who has to live in an area with fires. My one experience was several years ago when the smoke from FL fires reached us. I was miserable. Hope you feel better soon.
Catherine, your conference sounds wonderful. Glad you were able to have some refreshing moments! I haven't been able to start on DTGD yet. Too many things coming at me at once this week. I am hoping for next week!
I've never tried this technique but I love different types of backgrounds so might give it a go. I did both of last Friday's challenges as it poured with rain that day but most of the time the weather is too nice to be indoors.

The color challenge is gorgeous: Granny Sings a Melody in the Moonlight!
The Teapot Challenge is to use the word CHEER to inspire our designs and then we will send our card to Send a Smile. I followed the link provided and what a wonderful cause!
Have you received any cheer in the mail recently?
I have. I was surprised by an EARLY (like months EARLY) birthday gift of Daniel Smith watercolors! I have a little friend group and we have decided to forgo seding one another birthday and Christmas gifts but instead give our gifts some time during the year as a surprise. I LOVE that it eliminates having to rush out and find a gift at Christmas AND best of all for me, it means I will never be late giving them a birthday gift again!
I don't see the Sketch yet. It will probably be up in a few minutes! But I need to head to bed so someone can feel free to link it or I should be able to get back here later in the day!
The sketch for this week is a slimline card. I am pretty sure the last time they were a "thing" they were called "tall cards". The gallery is fun to look at so go check it out even if slimline is not your thing.
Ways To Use It is cling wrap! If you have any cling wrap tech backgrounds in your stash from a previous art session now is the time to pull them out and post them!
Challenge Chat: What do you like about slimline cards?
Do you have any Cling Wrap pieces in your stash? Have you ever used cling wrap to make a card? If so what do you like about it?
I still have some hurricane backgrounds in my stash. When I look at them I think of stamping and learning with actual PEOPLE. Fun memories. I would definitely pull one out and make a card today but my house is peopley today and I am not sure what I will be able to manage.
I think the slimline size is unexpected. I like that you feel you have more room to create a scene type card. I caved and ordered two die sets yesterday from Gina Marie Designs, so I guess I am in for creating in this size.

When I first started making cards, I made a lot of business envelope size ones, both tall and panorama. The European business envelope size is a bit bigger, it fits a standard sheet of paper folded in three. I still keep a supply of them in my stash for occasional use, and I might even have some smaller ones more like the current slimline. I must look. I don't need to look to know that there are cling-wrap backgrounds in my box. I love them for die-cutting, and when I'm nearly out of them I always make more. But since Cathy's challenge wasn't just the background technique, I also tried and had my first success with the Felted Background (using a napkin) technique.
***Edit*** Here is a link to the Dare To Get Dirty thread which includes, chat and a shopping list and where all the fun will happen starting 8/22!
If you are new around here and don't know what Dare to Get Dirty is, it's a week long challenge extravaganza! It includes several challenges per day, a chat thread, and prizes! A wonderful way to get to know one another better is to enter your card in the gallery and then make a few comments on other cards in the galleries!
Dare to Get Dirty Week is a treat designed for all of the Fabulous Fan Club Members so if you are not a Fan Club Member you can find details HERE.
This week's Featured Stamper is Elizabeth, (Palparis)! Elizabeth plays in the daily challenges and creates amazing sets of cards!
A few ways to celebrate Elizabeth are commenting on the thread, creating a CASE of one of her cards, and/or leaving some love in her gallery!
My question for the day is....
Do you usually make one card or sets of cards?
I rarely make multiples. I will at times stamp out multiples when I have made a complicated arrangement of stamps or simply love the layout. I will put the extras in a box and make them into a card at a later time but rarely will I make multiples in a setting.
The MIX challenge is up...It's all about leaves and looks FUN! Happy day everyone

the peek at the cover on the video for the TLC today looks so cool ( I will watch later at lunch time)
eta I rarely make multiples, I will sometimes color the same image two or three at a time but, one makes it as a finished piece and the others go into the someday bin.

Stacy, the TLC would have been perfect for your IC this week! Wow!
I had seen a beautiful card using the TLC technique by Melody in the gallery a couple of weeks back, it really caught my eye. Nice to have it as the TLC today.
I make multiples of some Christmas cards, but that's more or less it. I have three Snoopy birthday images that I'm colouring, but I think each one will be a different card at the end of the day - whenever that is.
If you know (or know of) anybody you think would enjoy a card shower - to commiserate or celebrate or just because, all the details for the Teapot Tuesday tea party (card shower) are at the bottom of each challenge.
I am hosting the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge this week! After our recent discussion you are going to laugh with me. I created 4 cards at once! However they are not really multiples because each one is different. I had so much fun working with the background and creating four cards. I can't wait to try this again.
Still no MIX for today, which might mean I can use my day off to catch up with last week's. There should be plenty of leaves on the ground after the last two stormy days. I saw a big branch down nearby when I was cycling to the dentist yesterday afternoon.
Angie, your doodling looks so good. What type of pen did you use to do the doodling?
Shirl
Sorry for being tardy in responding. It's never dull around here. We are having to suddenly get used to some changes and I have barely had a spare minute. Thank you 2020, this was not the gift I was looking for!
So on the doodled trio I used a Pigma Micron pen. On the Large Branch card, I stamped the branch and then I colored in the leaves with a marker because the leaves are so large.
I am so embarrassed, I forgot the Sketch Challenge on Wednesday. I guess because it wasn't up when I linked the WCW Challenge and then I totally forgot to come back the next day...
So Here is theSketch. There are gorgeous creations in the gallery.
I was sorry not to have a MIX on either of my rare Fridays off. I probably won't have another one till October. I spent time with DH in his "home office" instead, after catching up with last week's.

Sabrina, you'll have to check out the MMJ, Mixed, Messy and Joyful challenge. I have to get back there soon, too. Have a great evening.

Yes, I do know about the MMJ. But my patience for watching videos is close to zero, and since it sounds as if the challenge is predicated on watching a couple and then following/being inspired by them, I'm not sure that it's for me. I watch videos when I'm sick in bed, and that's about it , or when I am trying to find one to post in a TLC challenge because I know lots of people DO like them. I far prefer written tutorials 98% of the time. Anyway, it was nice for DH to have the company today...it's been hard for him working from home while I've been heading out every day.
Sabrina, I speed up the videos when watching them on Youtube. I love that feature! My DH has been working from home most of this year and that has been hard on him too. I started out working from home but then transitioned back into the office.
I have finished off and photographed 2 that were mostly done ( but it was too dark to shoot last night) and popped them into the gallery so, I have two more of today's DTGD left to do so far.
How are you all doing? did you know there is a chat thread for fan club member that is for the event? ( you can find that here)
I'm hoping that the DTGD challenges will spark my creativity - it's been totally missing lately. I've been keeping busy gardening and baking but somehow making cards has just not grabbed my attention lately.
Someone a while back wanted to know about one of our Inspiration Challenge sites as I said I was going to order a top from it. It was IC765 (August 1st) and the site was Miss Vogues. Absolutely do NOT order from them. The top was nowhere near as nice as it looked in the photo, the fabric was really poor, and there is no way to return it - instructions came saying to email for the return address and instructions but the email address they gave does not exist. I'm really angry. Such a rip-off enterprise! Fortunately it was only $22 - the top will go in my charity donations box.

Susan, so sorry that happened. I remember looking at that site and seeing pretty things and many people thinking about ordering. So sad it was a rip-off.
