They also accept card fronts and stamping supplies. If they can't use the supplies for their community card making projects, they save them and have a "garage" sale where they use the proceeds to help pay postage to send the boxes of cards overseas.
Operation Write Home is currently in need of FAR LESS cards than in years past. Go to YouTube and look for Operation Write Home Situation Report ( or Sit-Rep ) to find out what the current needs are.
I send to From Our Hearts because I know the step-daughter of the founder. No glitter and no heavy embellishments. Right now they are taking Christmas/Holiday/Hannukah, Miss You, Love You, Valentine's Day cards. They have plenty of birthday cards in stock so don't need those currently.
Might I suggest donating to Fisher House instead, if you are wanting to help out the troops.
I looked up this organization, but I could not find anything indicating that they accept cards. Do you have any additional information as to what their requirements are and who is in charge of any card program? Thanks
contact the one closest to you directly. The one I used to be associated with before I PCSd wanted blank inside cards with generic fronts so that the family members could write short notes about the recovery process to keep the rest of the family in the loop(not everyone uses Caring Bridge)
we also accepted Major Holiday cards as well, so that the recovering Servicemember's family could still send them out as well.
with fewer and fewer being deployed these days, the need for Servicemembers to send cards back home has greatly diminished.
and of course I highly doubt your local VA will turn down a pile of generic 'thinking of you/get well soon' cards to be distributed amongst the veterans and retirees as well. (these would need to be bling free and absolutely no glitter)
I chose this old thread, as good as any I suppose...Mods, feel free to move it if you see fit!!
My fabulous niece has been deployed and I have had lots going on this past month and have not had time to sit and make any cards :( Not for anyone at all and sadly, not any for her and I feel horrible. If anyone has cards that they would like to send her, please PM me and I can give you the APO address I have. Last time she went away I was able to send several cards and she tacked them up in her area so others could see and she said that everyone just loved them. I could really use some help right now with this. Thanks in advance!!!
