I am beginning to make my holiday cards (using a combination of Handsome Hunter and Bravo Burgundy) and am debating whether to do full cards or card fronts. Part of the debate is due to the darkness of both colors and also wanting to be economical with the cardstock.
What do you ladies think? Which way do you go when mass producing a card?
I do this alot. Use the SU colors for the front and then attach to cheapo white c/s for the writing. You can then get 4 cards from one SU sheet rather than 2. You can buy a pack of 250 sheets of white c/s at Sam's or Walmart for around $6.
I almost always use white c/s for the writing of the card. I actually buy a ream of heavy weight white paper from my office supply store. It costs a bit more than a ream of regular printer paper- but it's still under $10 for a whole ream of card stock. I use this to adhere the card fronts to. It's easy to find, super cheap, works great, and I can even use it for background DTP and the such.
I guess it depends on how elegant or formal the cards are. If they are more formal I would use the whole dark cs and attach white inside for writing on. If more whimsical or light hearted, attach to whole white card. just mho
I also usually attach card fronts with colored cardstock to white or vanilla cardstock, especially if the colors are dark. But when I use the SU colored cardstock on the front, especially if there are two or more layers, the front of the card gets "heavy". Since SU doesn't sell coordinating colored lightweight cardstock or paper in solids, I have been thinking about trying to separate the colored cardstock into layers, making the layers less bulky.
Has anyone tried to do this and if so, how has it worked?
I use SU cardstock, and cut a 1/4 sheet (trimmed, like a layer) of Whisper White or Very Vanilla to put on the inside to write on. I don't like using non-SU paper for a card base if I've used SU paper for the front... the other paper usually can't hold the card up if someone choses to display it.
