Yep - September. A group is being deployed around that time so we'll send the shipment with them.
Thank you for looking for envelopes. I think I only have about 350 right now and that won't even do the cards I have right now without anybody sending more.
No problem... I will see what I come up with. I don't think anyone would have a problem with starting to send envies too now though. I will include them now with my cards when my next group comes to you...
All the best.

Hi Carolyn!!! The retiring stamp set list is coming out soon so I should have a TON coming your way as well as Sale-a-bration swap cards. I will see what I can do in Hamilton for envelopes. I know a demo who works for a paper company. You never know!!! Take care and way to go on the grand total!! It almost made me cry!! I assume they will be needing Christmas cards again this year - sad but probably true!!!

Hi Carolyn, I'm taking a bunch to EE3 for you. I don't know if anyone has contacted you to see if you can pick them up or if someone is delivering them to you but there should be a good batch of them again.

Thanks Jacqueline - you're always faithful in sending out that express post envelope every year! Also appreciate you checking out the envelopes. Yep - need Christmas cards. I have a good start already as I "kept" them till now - have over 500 already. I've warned my friends: I'm going to have a "sort, bag and box" party - doesn't that sound like fun!?!!? There are quite a few that are willing, so I'll take them up on it.

Shoot - I missed out on getting in on the action again! I'm going to have to do a search and check out the dates. But no - no one has contacted me. Should I wait, or do you know who would be a good person to contact?
Carolyn the school teacher that did the PIF for the troops last year has this year's PIF cards, I am sending her your address. The students really enjoyed the day and are very excited to be helping in providing cards for the troops.
Look for them in the mail soon.

Smallpigpig is organizing the event and I'm pretty sure she is doing the collecting. It's this weekend, I'll pm her and ask her to contact you.

That's awesome. They did a great job last year with the cards (I kept them together with a note saying that the students had made those particular cards). Can you make sure she sends me contact information so that I can let her know when they arrive here and thank the students personally? Thanks!

I finally did find the forum thread - it took a little bit of searching, late at night! Thanks for being the "go between". I look forward to hearing from one of you.
Can you come and get them on Sunday afternoon? If you can, I'll pm you the addy because we are in a different spot this time. If you can't I can either deliver them or mail them to you. Let me know.

I need to go home and check my schedule. I think Saturday would work better though - we're already in Edmonton that day (rather than make another trip). Would that be okay?
Well, ladies, we've had another journey to go on...my mother-in-law passed away earlier Thursday evening. She was 86 years old and lived a wonderful life. Her doctor came in and told us that she was the best patient she ever had. One of the nurses came in (she was in a continuing care facility) and thanked us for loaning her to them to take care of her. What a legacy to leave behind!
I'm feeling a little shell shocked seeing it happened so soon after my dad. We've been expecting this for awhile, as she's slowly been going down hill, but we did NOT expect it to be that fast. We didn't even make it there in time to be with her.
Thanks for "listening" to me ramble my thoughts away, but I feel like most of you have become my friends through this military project and I just wanted to let you all know.
Hi Caroline,
Loretta here, I'm borrowing my friends computer and can't remember my password. I'm so sorry to here about your mother-in-law. Hugs to you and your family. Don't worry about the cards, I'll pick them up for you and either send them or deliver them. Take care.

Loretta,
We need to come into Edmonton anyway - and it'd be good to have a diversion tomorrow. My son's lacrosse practice is at 3:30 so it would be after that - it may be a 2 hour practice. I'll make sure I look for you in the room there somewhere.
Hope you're having fun! I was supposed to be scrapping at our church tonight, but that didn't happen. Oh well - another month goes by that nothing gets done! :p
Carolyn, it was so nice to meet you in person at EE3 when you popped in on Saturday! So glad outr cards have made such a good difference toi the total.
Sorry to hear about your MIL and your Dad. Take care and remember there are people thinking of you at such a sad time. {{{Hugs}}}

It was great to meet you too.
Thanks for the kind words as well. It's been a hectic week and the funeral won't be for another few weeks, trying to get family home.
Since, I'm here, I thought I'd do a card total. I've had cards arrive from all different sources, plus I've now included the Christmas ones I was holding. We're now sitting at 5,516!
Time for a LONG overdue card total! It's been a little bit hectic with the funeral planning for my MIL - and it's still just under 2 weeks away. Too much time, but family was coming from far away.
I have a few thank you's to send out:
mingo for her cards that arrived,
lojo who managed to get me a box of envelopes from her source,
eskabeeble who ordered two boxes of envelopes for me (1.5 boxes are already used up!)
canadian_stamper's friend who's a teacher and has her students do a "pay it forward" project for the military. The cards are beautiful - she obviously has them do quality work.
Thanks everyone! It's wonderful to have so many different people contribute in different ways to help get the job done.
As mentionned in the pm I just sent you, I have a box full of cards (about 150) that I am going to send you. It's the least I can do for our great Canadian soldiers!

Congrats to your son's team for making the provincials!! We are in the process of packing up and heading out for the month of July, but my "summer project" this year is going to be making a bunch of Christmas cards for the troops. It will be mid-Aug by the time I get everything ready to send so I will let you know when I am set to put them in the mail. Have a great summer!
Hi Carolyn
I would love to send you some cards and I'm positive a few of my friends will add to my shipment also. As a military mom I know how much a card is appreciated. Please send me your address and I will start collecting.

Have a wonderful holiday! Looking forward to connecting with you when you get back.

Off to Olds, AB for the weekend of stamping/scrapping (12/13th) and hope to get some Christmas cards done there. Have not done any stamping or even been on here since Edmonton and EE3!!

Wow - that's a long hiatus from SCS! Have fun in Olds.
I am back! Our family went with 29 other people from our church to Costa Rica to do a VBS program, work with a group of 20 women and the men started working on a building in a poverty stricken area just outside of San Jose. It was an incredible eye opening experience.
I'm slowly working through the mountain of laundry, paperwork and e-mails.
Please be patient as I try and get a new card update done.
Shipping a box of Christmas cards and envelopes to you today. They should arrive in three or four days.
Do you need more envelopes?
Blessings,
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
I think I'm good for envelopes for awhile. I'll put out a call if I'm running low again.
I'll let you know when your cards arrive. It's been pretty quiet for getting cards, but that's okay - it's letting me get caught up on other things around the house!
