Default Just 44 days to go...

before I retire after 35 1/2 yrs of civil service work! My work days are long and BORING! I call on Jesus every morning to get me through the day. I know I'll make it. I have better things to do with my time and places to go. Queen & Co loves to curate custom graphics for fun scrapbook jokes, craft jokes, rubber stamp jokes and DIY jokes. We celebrate the funny side of crafting!

Bohodiva, congrats on your upcoming retirement.
One thing I tell everyone I know about retirement is:
Do not let people steal your time!

By that, I mean, people think because you are retired that you can take on all sorts of projects.

My suggestion is to take the entire first year to adjust to retirement. Do only the things YOU want to do.  You have spent 35-1/2 years waiting for this moment.
Enjoy yourself and don't feel guilty about saying "NO" to other people.
Happy Stampin'!!!!

With all your new free time, be prepared for it to just really, really fly by!!!! I honestly don't know where the days, weeks, months, years have gone since I retired in 2006. It's been a real trip and I love it.

I totally agree with stampindoe and Dorie95 - I have been retired since 2009 and the years have flown by.  Between my volunteer work, my crafts, reading, gardening, time with my dog, time with friends, I barely notice the weeks flash by.  Enjoy every minute of retirement - I would say it is the best phase of my life!

Amen! Sometimes I think us retired people give off pheromones that attract non-profits and other organizations that use a lot of volunteers. Practice saying "no" (politely, of course...) in the mirror so you'll be able to do it fluently when the demands on your time start rolling in. Remember, it IS your time - use it to make yourself happy!

I retired in 2008 after 30+ years working shift work. One thing I'd like to share with you is schedule lots of "Me" time on your calendar. This way, whenever someone asks if you have time, you can honestly say your calendar is already pretty full and you can let them know later if you have a cancellation or find some free time to help out. This gives you time to think about the request before giving an answer.
