no I don't regret it. of all the binding machines I know of I like the type of binding this does. I do forget how to use it every time I pull it out, that is frustrating. If I used it more often I guess that wouldn't be an issue.
The one item I always wished I bought was the BIA or Cinch...I haven't bought either..cuz I just figured I wouldn't be able to figure either of them out lol.
I have had my Bind it All for a couple of years. I LOVE IT! I have made lots of little booklets. Right now I am using old book covers to make journals for my ATC group. I didn't find it too confusing in the beginning. The instructions were quite straight forward.
I don't use it a lot but I did recently use it to bind workbook sheets and used an old plastic two pocket folder cut down the center as the covers. My kids love it and it's great to have the folder pockets for stickers, notes, etc.

I've had mine for three years and have used mine a total of five times. But I'm not sorry that I bought it. It's one of those things that you're glad you have when you need it. My problem is that I'm not a skilled Bind-It-All user and I'm a little nervous each time I put it to work.
I took a basic Bind-It-All class from my friend, Jennifer Priest: www.hydrangeahippo.com It was a two-hour in-person class. I should have played with it at least once a week for the next few weeks so I'd be familiar with it. N see that Nan Patzuro has a 4-week Bind-It-All 101 class starting Feb. 14, only $25. Summary of NEW! BIA 101 Punching, Binding & Zo Much More! (Feb 14th) with Nan Paturzo If I was working I'd sign up, but since I'm not I need to hang onto my cash.
I won a BIA at a crop last year and haven't used it yet. But I have big plans for it! I want to make some smash books for my daughter and her friends... and I need to start this week as I want to give them for valentine gifts... anyone have any tips before I start?
I had the original blue BIA. I call it the pinching machine. I got pinched so many times with it I have scars. I did like it when I was not being pinched. I don't keep pinching tools in my arsenal. Machines don't pinch, it's rude, lol.
One of my friends said the pink BIA is a lot better. I might try that one sometime.
I don't want a Cinch because it's too big. I like BIA's holes better. I already have another machine similar to the Cinch.
I have the blue bia. I guess I'm not sorry I have it but I would not buy another one. LOL. I guess I'm just challenged but I have a hard time using it and have to watch a you tube everytime I do use it. I hate when I put the effort into it and then the binding is still wonky. I'm sure if someone showed me how in person I could use it and then I would probably love it. I can't believe that I can not make the nice perfect round binding.

I don't hate mine, but I don't use it nearly as much as I thought I would when I got it. I saw it having potential when I got it, but it only does about 4 inches at a time where about double that would have been better. I made a wedding album with it, and it is on my blog, but right at the beginning...
I had the blue one and sold it last Sept. on my garage sale, I made a year book for my friends grandson (shows how he grew in that year) and after covering the cardboard with designer paper, it would not go into the place for cutting the holes, no the cardboard was not that thick. I was very bummed about that. I got the Cinch and like how much easier it is to use. Like most, I have not used it much but they sure are handy when you need one!
I don't use mine often, BUT I don't regret buying it. It's nice to have. Then again, I don't have anything to compare it to. So I'm not sure how much easier to use the others are.
I have the older blue one too and I'm glad to have it; however I don't use it often enough to remember how either, so I'm taking the class offered by Nan Patzuro (link is above) and I'm really looking forward to it.
I dont like mine as much as i like the cinch much better. The cinch is eaiser to use and if I forget, there are instructions on the machine. Is there a machine to use to cut thick chipboard to use with binding machines?
Gillian, whether it is a good buy depends on a number of things. Is it something that you would use? Is the cost cheaper than $54 (Amazon.com, price, includes free shipping). Is it a pink one, versus the older blue? The pink one has a few upgraded features, probably the most important is that it can punch thicker materials than the blue BIA.
Some people make lots of cute mini books. I don't because I haven't a clue where I'd store them. But I do like that I can make one now and then as gifts. I've also used mine to put together a calendar so my son and I can keep track of my dog's daily meds and I even used it to bind a bunch of loose paper together to make a cute notepad. (Yeah, like I need another notepad!)
My pink BIA is probably my least used craft tool. I bought it when I thought mini books were a good idea - but they're not for me as they're a pain to store. I've mainly used my BIA for binding my son's school projects or occasional work papers. For me it wasn't a good investment, but some other friends love and use their BIA a lot, so each to their own. ;)
