Default altered wood blocks

Is there a gallery for altered wood blocks? I looked and searched to no avail.

Do you have a link you could share for some cute ideas for altered wood blocks?

something like this: http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/br...d+Photo+Blocks

Well I have about 1/2 ton of wood blocks left over from un-mounting all of my stamps. I have never had a really good idea what to do with them. Of course it's unthinkable that I would (gasp) throw them away. So, maybe I'll do something like was shown in your link. Although, what would they be good for even then? I'm drawing a blank

You could put letters and spell something - a child's name or "Merry Christmas" in all different sizes.

I made a card or photo holder using a wood block.

I've attached it.

You could make so many cool things with these wood blocks

I have quite a few in my gallery. I actually just use some ends of 2x4's that my husband saws up for me.

Frog Blocks--hanging in our nursery

Also, attached are some more. I most do kid's name, but some sayings as well.

HTH! Let me know you if you have questions.

I was wondering if you would be interested in selling any of your wood blocks?
Thanks,
Tracy

I've used the wood blocks, exactly like the Oriental Trading ones you linked, as table place card settings before. I just decorated them, then had one at each seat holding a name card.
They look super cute and everyone always loves 'em!

Great ideas - I also have a pile left from unmounting! What type of adhesive do you recommend?

I was a guest designer for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps last summer and did a "Christmas in July" series. One of the projects was the attached altered blocks. There's a tutorial for them here:
http://sweetnsassystamps.blogspot.co...er-blocks.html
They were a lot of fun, and pretty easy to do! Hope that helps!

I don't have a picture but I hope I an explain my idea.....SNOW

Take 3 2x2 wood blocks and cover with blue paper....cut out an S, an N and an O from cardstock. Glue the letters on the blue paper. For the "O" in SNOW, use a round wooden ball and paint or cut paper into a snowman's face.

Ooooh what a great idea to use up all these blocks. Has anyone made a photo holder out of the SU blocks?

You can always give them to a local school too! That is where I take all of mine...

Love the photo card holder but where do you get the wire to put in the block? Did you curl it yourself?

something like this: Design Your Own! Wood Photo Blocks
Here's some I posted on my blog a few years ago...I called them Shelf-Sitters.
PaperFriendly: MAKE IT EASY: RECYCLED WOOD BLOCKS AND CLEARSNAP STYLE STONES

These were done with Clearsnap Style Stones, which are no longer available. Cut grunge board could be substituted; dominos would work too.

Other uses for the blocks: apply wide Velco tape to the top to hold felt on the block (for sponging ink); sanding blocks (apply sand paper to one side of the block); hot pads; coasters; wall decor (pictures can be mounted on the block). They're great imagination toys for kids (trains, cars, stacking, etc.)
