Well, I knew I wouldn't be able to get all the challenges and tutorials done - but I had a lot of fun completing the ones I was able to do. If only there were more than 24 hours in a day! Thank you to all the hostesses and organizers for their hard work in making Falliday Fest a reality. Now on to VSN.
Top tip for people posting links in the Yeti thread.
Unlike the TLC, WTUI and MMTPT challenge posts I cannot edit and fix your links. We know it's the forum and not you, but here's a likely fix. BEFORE you post - click on the little A/A icon at the top right above the text entry box, then click Preview Post. There is a far greater chance that your links will then format correctly.
I checked and checked and checked before I posted my Yeti list. Then it was slow posting and I thought I had done something wrong, so I posted again. Now I have two posts. So sorry! Be kind as I usually have to have help and I did it myself (twice!)lol!
So, I am sitting here with my list made on OneNote.
Do I copy/paste it into the Yeti Thread????? Or do I have to use something called a sharing link? Color me over whelmed at this point.....Our school district just announced that effective Monday Nov 23 through December 22 there will be no in person instruction for our students.....Teachers will report to buildings and present over zoom and other platforms. Due to my daughter being a teacher, I will become the "home room monitor" for her 6 year old (special needs) and her 15 year old sons. This in addition to the 7 year old I have had now for two weeks due to his school going full remote earlier due to outrageous COVID numbers within the staff and students at a small(less than 200 ) students school.. I am feeling a bit stressed...LOL! Add two dogs who need potty breaks at two different homes and I may throw in the towel.

Card Sketch Challenge 1-227 done only 396+ to go to be caught up!!!!!
Sadly, I posted twice into the yeti list and neither look like bold/highlighted links. Tried 1st list with copy & paste directly into the Yeti reply like I always do with card uploads. Then I posted with Notepad, copy & pasted, and they STILL aren't highlighted. When I send myself an email, with either of these methods, they are highlighted. I hate to disqualify myself. What to do? Thanks for your help. Lori "Artzadoni"
Lori, with the formatting issues I have been typing where I want to be the hypertext link then clicking the button above the box on what is highlighted ( the globe with the chain links) and copy and pasting the url into that box) for each link I want to add to anything. so, if I had been able to complete them all I would really sit here with two tabs open going back and forth and not copy and pasting any list I had made in advance. ( but, I think that works for me, I know its time consuming)
Thanks Stacy....I know I will survive but it is a bit of a change for this old retired grandma......
Also worry about my kids....#4 is in Colorado where the school district of 30,000 students where he works is going full remote from Monday to rest of the semester, #3 lives here and has a job that requires going into many food stores each week and working with owners and route drivers--his wife is head nurse at a large food processing plant in town and is putting in 16-18 hours a day many days of the week and they have the 7 year old mentioned in my first post plus 5 year twin sons. #2 is the teacher and her husband also works in the district for the Technology department, #1 is a lab manager for a large beef processing company and has 4 different plants under her supervision......The stress levels at all their homes are through the roof as well. I hope that soon people wake up and follow good suggestions about how to stop the spread and that the vaccine researchers are successful and offer more hope than now.

Card Sketch Challenge 1-227 done only 396+ to go to be caught up!!!!!
Just want to say how much fun I had late at night working on the challenges and tutorials. It was a huge stress reliever for me. For what my opinion is worth,,,,I totally loved the pace of FF this year...It was nice to have a day inbetween posts even though I wasn't always (never) able to do all of one day in the 48 hours . I also appreciated the fact that the shopping list didn't require me to hunt for something not available in the HL in my town(it is not very paper crafter oriented). I learned a great many new techniques and garnered tips from postings of others. A huge thank you to all those who hosted, designed the format and are continuing to do the checking and finalizing. This is the best time of the year for me and my crafting.

I hope I did my list correctly! And I'm floored that I "made it through" with all the challenges...only took me one very, very, very very late night, and a few other pretty late nights to finish. And funnily, the challenges/tutorials that looked the hardest to me on first view, turned out to be the most fun and not hard at all. So--thank you Lydia, Dina and Dirty Dozen and hostesses...it was REALLY fun!

Thank you for this! We love the slower pace too for many reasons, and I took care this year to make sure the tutorials were simple and doable. I am so glad it was relaxing for you.
Our schools went back to in person learning about a week before Halloween, and are back to Virtual as of this Monday because of a spike in cases.
My son in Western Colorado- they have closed 4 schools in their town and expecting to go virtual by Thanksgiving.
My DD1 teaches 9th grade in Chicago, and they are talking about going back in the building mid-Jan...... We'll see! She works with Hispanic/Latino students, and that is one of the higher infection rates via Zip Codes in Chicago, so I am sure the Union will have something to say about it.....
I will go back and recheck my links- I did check when I posted them, but just to make sure!
So now that the creating is done and the uploading is finished and the Yeti lists are arriving ---reflecting back on what was made---
1. What was the new technique learned that you enjoyed the most?
2. What challenge or tutorial was the most difficult for you ?
3. Which one are you going to use again soon?
My answers:
1. the collage--had never made own background paper and it really excited me when I made the snowone I did....Already have a list of ideas for additional ones.
2. The die cut relief--even though we did an ornament with a dry brush technique during last year's Falliday Fest ( I totally made a mess of mine) and I knew what mistakes I had made--I was still nervous about being able to complete in viewable fashion the one I started with. But I did it.
3. Easy--the first tutorial---I loved the folds and the assembly so just yesterday I sat and made 12 birthday cards using the folds and DSP as shown in the tutorial. I am a member of the SCS BRAK group and funniest thing...the list of December birthdays popped up Thursday in my e-mail and since there were 3 birthday girls and 9 BRAK volunteers with December birthdays---I used the cards already. Back to the work desk I go....

Pansy, thanks for your thoughts and comment. I had forgotten how much fun Falliday is. I don't remember a VSN right after Falliday so I must have decided to forego it. But then again, I didn't remember Falliday. Out of sight, out of mind. I too liked that first tutorial. I loved that ornament last year, I thought this year's diecut relief wasn't near as great but that was mostly my fault.

I liked all of the challenges. There were a couple I feel I could have done better with, so I may try them again in the future. I want to try the Mixed Media Die Cut technique again one day. And I want to try the one with black paper again, but with metallic coloring pencils. A friend made me a card using metallic pencils on black paper, and it was gorgeous! I enjoyed the Inlay Die Cuts more than I imagined. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be, so I definately want to do that one again. The water colored die cuts was interesting, and it gave me a chance to practice water coloring with my distress inks. It was fun learning new things and seeing all the different things created.
You were a friend indeed during my late night hours of need! So GLAD to be done with the linking--and so GRATEFUL for your wise and timely advice!
My favorite challenge...was probably the winter wonderland, since it got me to get out my watercolors and led to a whole weekend of watercolor creations.
The most enlightening was the card fold -- so MUCH easier than I'd guessed and I loved my result!
The best part of Falliday, though, is seeing everyone's wonerful creations and the very encouraging kind words. Thanks so much to all!
-I tried a few different inks of the black cardstock, and not the greatest result. I will try it again with different inks : ) There were some gorgeous cards in the gallery!
- I love the little nugget snowmen- will make more and I can see making them in the future too.
I also really liked the die cut inlay- that was easier than I expected.
I do not think there were any I really disliked- I enjoy trying new things : )
I do really appreciate all of the commenting that was going on- the Hostesses did a wonderful job! You ladies were fabulous encouragers!!!
Thank you to all the organizers and hostesses for a wonderful Falliday Fest. The pace was just perfect and the challenges were inspiring and do-able.
1. What was the new technique learned that you enjoyed the most? I enjoyed the watercolor die cuts - on the first night it set the tone, combining watercoloring, which I find relaxing, with a technique that was new to me.
2. What challenge or tutorial was the most difficult for you ? Ink blending on black card stock. The colors turned out so pale and I wished for more contrast against the black.
3. Which one are you going to use again soon? I'm itching to try the 4-in-1 collage background with a different set of stamps. And finish my bag of nugget snow people if I can get more gloves!

Pansy, what great questions and comments! I learned several new techniques! I loved the triple fold card! I loved the slower pace of this year and loved all the challenges and tutorials! I love looking at all the gallery and seeing how different people do different things for the same challenge. You all did a super job!

Ditto what Sharon said, and my favorite new technique was the triple fold card too! I did love creating the Gingerbread garland, even though I didn't think I'd like it at first. Another great Falliday Fest!

This was my first year doing the Falliday Fest, I enjoyed it emensely.
1. The die cut relief was new for me. I will try it again with different colors.
'
2. I enjoyed all the challenges but had difficulty with the die cut relief.
3. The diamond shaped ornament is one I've made 10x already. I'm holding a class next wednesday teaching the diamond shaped ornament. I raffled 2 off at our street party the week before thanksgiving.
Lydia said she had entered the ticket for the report that she needs. That usually takes a few days, and since this is a holiday weekend for you, I expect that will mean another couple of days.
I didn't have time to take part but I did love the 4-in-1 collage and have made two sets of cards using it. I've done something similar in the past, but I liked having the suggested layout of stamping the larger design across the page both ways as a foundation. I've done the die-cut relief before but am hoping to visit that for DH's Christmas card once I'm on holidays. And I also definitely want to try Lydia's technique. There were some stunning entries for Ann's one on black card, too. Too much inspiration, too little time .

Now that some time has gone by, it's fun to reflect back.
For challenges, I think I liked the Die Cut Collage most because that was totally new to me. Die Cut relief was my favorite overall. It was labor intensive and time consuming but I loved the outcome.
Most challenging for me was the Gingerbread Houses. I would like to try again sometime.
I would use most of them again, if I can remember to come back and refresh my brain, or add samples into my art journal.
