This is such a great idea. I have signed on to participate in 2008 but I have a quick question... When we upload our cards each month does the picture need to show all 10 cards in it or is just a sample card okay?
I have finished my January cards!!!!! I apparently still have a bit of Christmas spirit lurking inside and couldn't resist doing my January cards with my new Elzybells Mouse Bauble stamp. You can see my card here: CCC08 - January by ped1990 at Splitcoaststampers.
I think there's holiday spirit still lurking in most of us. I was making a card to go along with a gift basket on Christmas Eve moring. I liked it so much that I made more. So January Cards are done. And then I got my December order from a workshop, It's Snow Time. Had so much fun with it that my February and March cards are done as well. When I get a chance, probably this weekend, I'll get them downloaded so you can see.
I do have one problem...I have Windows Vista and a Lexmark X2500 printer. I can't upload! If I save it as a picture with a jpg format, there is no way I can find to get it sized below the 640 x 480 SCS requirement. Instead of being able to go manually up or down on the size, I only have drop-down boxe to select preset sizes, all bigger than that.
I use IrfanView - it's a free, easy to use image editor. You just open your photo in the program, go to the image tab, choose resize and type in the size you'd like your photo to be! Here's the link: http://www.irfanview.com/
Join the Holiday 2008 Monthly Challenge!!!! This year's challenge was a big success! Thanks to everyone who participated.
All you have to do is complete 10 Christmas cards every month up to and including November and you should have plenty of cards to send out for the holidays!!
You can join anytime during the year. The idea is NOT to stress. If you need to skip a month or two, that is perfectly fine. Remember, the whole idea behind this challenge is to make life easier. Trust me, I know how busy December can be, why not try to get one project, your holiday cards, all done by the end of November!
Make your cards any way you like - make 100 of the same card 10 at a time or make a different set of 10 each month or make each card completely different and unique. You decide, these are your cards. They should be how you want them to be. Then each month when you complete your 10 cards, upload your photos (use CCC08 in the title or keywords so that others can search) and post a message to the thread that will be set up for each month, or you can post it here. Just one suggestion, this year there was a little confusion because several of the months had more than one thread started. So before starting a new thread, just check to see if one has already been started.
As in incentive, There will be a small prize to the person who completes their cards first EACH MONTH. For each month you complete (before the end of the following month), your name will be put in a drawing for the "year end prize basket. (so PM or email me your contact info so that I can have it in case you win!!!! My email address is [email protected])
If you'd like to donate stuff for prizes (small items you may have laying around, SU! or non-SU, even stuff you have made), I would really appreciate the help. Postage stamps would also be a great help. This is not a requirement to join this challenge. PM me, if you would like my address!
PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS NOT A SWAP!!!!
I was the lucky recipient of the "year end prize basket" and I have to say that it's full of WONDERFUL stuff! Thank you so much to those who donated to the gift basket. I'm looking forward to participating in the CCC in 2008!
I am new to the posting--how do I receive cards for myself--this looks like a lot of fun and I am planning in my head right now--just want to be clear on how this all works--TIA
I saw this last year and thought about joining, but had a newborn at the time, so I knew I would not be able to keep up with it.
But I am determined to participate this year.
Can't wait to get started. :-D

I signed up for last year, but never completed any. :( I did start some for January and February - finished the Feb ones in December and used them. Turned my Jan ones into thank you cards and have them all ready to mail.
I am determined to do them each month through 2008, though! Count me in!
Yes, sign me up. I did it for 2007 but didn't do well keeping up but did get alot done and that helped. This year I will work harder to do the Jan thru Nov. Husband loves to be able to be the first to mail them out.
Hope all had a wonderful holiday

I would like to join. I really like the idea of having all my cards done before 12/26 !!! I think I'll incorporate it in with my workshops this year and get all my customers involved too!!! Spread the Christmas cheer all year long!!!
You don't. This is strictly a personal challenge for you to get your cards completed ahead of time. Think of it as a New Year's Resolution you would make.
The object of the challenge is to complete 10 cards per month. In the past, I have made 10 of the same card per month, different card designs each month. You can use any layout, any stamps, any supplies, any embellishments, etc. There are no restrictions.
If you wish to share (upload) your cards, please be sure to put CCC08 in the title or description so that anyone searching for cards in the challenge will easily find it.
Thanks everyone--I did not seem to be so dense about this thread--I thought perhaps it was a 100 card swap Now I get it--we are to do 10 cards a month so we will have our own ready for mail out at the end of the year duh!!! Thanks again and sign me up too--I am ready.
I would like to join! I think this is a great idea. I have spent the last 2 years in a rush trying to make all my cards in time for them to make it for Christmas. I am so excited about starting my cards; I can't wait to start.

I signed up last year (2007) and did only a handful of cards. However, I am going to get back on the horse, so to speak, and try it again! Hopefully I will have much better luck staying focused in '08!!!
Please add my name! After the stress of getting my Christmas cards done for this year, it would be wonderful to get them done early. Is it okay to do only 5 cards per month?
Please add me to the challenge, January - November. I resolve to do 10 cards each month in 2008 'cause I broke my 2007 resolution after 3 months but 30 cards were better than none!)
I'm in! I didn't join SCS until October this year and saw cards in the Christmas card challenge... I kept thinking, why didn't I know about this site sooner?????!!!!!!! I know I won't need this many cards, as I send out about 40 myself, but boy, I could sure use a few sets to sell at the mountain craft show I plan to be in next winter! YEAY!

Does Valentines Day qualify as a Holiday Card?
I always send to nieces, nephews, and children of close friends. I have to make 'em anyway so am just wondering if I can count these as my "10 Holiday Cards" for January.
Boy, am I glad I found this. I need the motivation to do my cards. I had great intents to send homemade ones this year, but that was all they were, great intents :p
