Heart SPECIAL REQUEST - FEBRUARY 2022

Hello, everyone. We have had a special request from Linda (hotwheels) to take part in the BearlyArt Glue card drive for kids as an additional mission for February. Their goal is to collect 100,000 cards for Cards for Cubs.

Cards For Cubs is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to give hope to kids in foster care and bring awareness to the foster care system. They work with foster care agencies across the United States to help distribute the collected cards to kids that feel forgotten by the world.

If you choose to participate in this special mission, the due date for the cards is March 31, but we all know that post office delivery has been notoriously bad during the covid epidemic plus there can be added delays due to winter weather, so I would suggest not waiting to mail your cards.

They have very specific requirements, including registering in order to send cards. You can register here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email. They request that you print the entire page and include it with your card donation.

Here is the basic information, but you can see all the details on the card guidelines page:
  1. ALL cards must be HANDMADE: no store bought cards. Each card should be as special and personal as the child receiving it.
  2. Cards should be appropriate for ALL AGES.
  3. All cards should be BLANK inside or contain a SHORT SENTIMENT such as "Happy Birthday" or "I believe in you and unicorns too!". Keep it short and sweet so foster care agencies can write to a child's specific circumstance.
  4. We are only accepting BIRTHDAY and ENCOURAGEMENT cards this year, as these were the most requested cards by the foster agencies we worked with.
  5. Cards should be well-received across any demographic, religion, and culture. I did contact them to ask specifically about religious sentiments (I was thinking about the encouragement cards saying praying for you, etc) and their response was that something short and kind such as “God bless” would be okay .
  6. ENVELOPES are required for each card (30 cards = 30 fitting envelopes). Please keep envelopes separate from cards to aid the sorting process.
  7. Cards should be bundled in PACKS of 10 and labeled Birthday or Encouragement.
  8. All cards must be mailed to Cards For Cubs.
Mailing Address:

2000 E. Randol Mill Rd. STE 610
Arlington, TX 76011

I managed to complete four birthday cards this weekend and have a fifth started. For me, that is quite the accomplishment. I have some supplies lined up for some encouragement cards too so my contribution will probably be 20.

Phew, I made it. I was struggling to finish up my last set, but I put them all in the mail yesterday. Cards postmarked after March 31 will still be donated but they won't "count" toward the official card drive. Cards for Cubs has a webpage where you can see the stats.

Thanks to everyone who sent in cards for this cause!
