ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED: South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice
DESCRIPTION:
The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice provides cards for kids ages 12 to 17 to send to their families/friends. This started as a small “mission” for Sue but has become so large that she has had to focus all her energy providing them cards. She could certainly use some help providing for their needs.
TYPE OF CARDS REQUESTED: Thinking of you, Miss you, Birthday, Congratulations, Thank You, See you soon, Get well, encouragement, Christian, and cards without an occasion listed on the front. In other words – anything and everything! Stamp some on the inside for youth who don’t know quite what to say and leave some blank for those kids who are more expressive. They love a variety!! They have just recently requested sympathy, Get Well, and masculine cards specifically. SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS: Please include envelopes. No metal or sharp objects (such as staples, stick pins, etc)
GUIDELINES: Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, let's help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.

For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not.
This months challenge is to be inspired by the colors of Fall since we have entered the season....think leaves and pumpkins and candy corn and apples…all those things of Fall that we love!!! I've got a box ready to go...120!! I appreciate you giving the heads up so I can plan ahead!! I am in the process of finishing Halloween cards to send to the seniors group. I am so happy to be back in the craft room again. Taking it slow but at least I am back!!!

I am back from travelling and excited to see this month's cause. I also enjoy knowing that it's a cause one of our own members is actively involved with. Somehow, that makes it feel more personal to me too! Looking forward to creating some new cards to send out, and I have a paper pack in mind to use for more masculine cards.

The cards come here because they wanted them sorted and counted. They don't have the staff there to do it. So I'm sorting and counting them then sending them to SCJJS.
This is a ministry that was started by a gal who works there and myself. So there isn't a position for the addition things needed for this kind of card drive. They are so grateful for all the cards they receive.

Sue, I’m actually about 25 minutes from DJJ, but based on your previous comment it sounds like the cards really need to come to you first - correct?

You can send them to SCJJC if you like and PM me how many you sent and I'll include that in our total.
