2011 Cards for A Cause ~ JULY MISSION ~ Stamp from the Heart!
ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED:
The Art of Encouragement
Here is a little summary about The Art of Encouragement taken from their website:
About Us
Our goal is to spread a little Christmas cheer to the men and women of our country who have so bravely sacrificed to keep our country free.
Founded by Ashley Hyde in 2008, The Art of Encouragement sent out 450 Christmas cards their first Christmas. 2011 will be our fourth year, and we have plans of sending over 20,000 Christmas cards to VA hospitals and care centers around the United States.
New to TAOE in 2010 was our airport outreach. We passed out 75 cards to uniformed soldiers in DFW airport the week before Christmas. We plan on traveling back to DFW this year to pass out hundreds.
It's Christmas in July! This month its all about building a Christmas Card stash for use during the 2011 holiday season. Christmas cards will be sent to the men and women of our military to show our appreciation, thanks and warm wishes as a way of payback for all they do for us and our country!
I can definitely get some cards going for the July cause. Maybe working on Christmas will cool me off with this heat wave we are in. It is worth a try for sure!!
Shipping 9 cards off on Tuesday. Hoping that I did the right thing, I made holiday cards and stamped them with a holiday sentiment but left the rest blank. Included envelopes to go with them.
You guys rock! Amy, you are johnny on it girlfriend! Awesome! Happy 4th to you as well!
Tried to do a little better this month...did a few more cards much earlier. I've got the in-laws coming tomorrow and they're taking over my stamping spot (AKA the guest bedroom!!) so I had to get them done early or not at all.
I can't see anywhere where there are restrictions.....
Thanks so much!
OH that link is perfect! I needed that info....and I see that glitter is indeed fine since they aren't going to active military! Whew! Since my whole craft area tends to get a bit glittery! ;)
I have been having too much fun making cards for myself and just realized I never checked out what was going on for this month. I guess I am going to have to get busy during the next week. Thanks for all you ladies do for the military! They deserve every bit of thanks they receive.
Between my husband, daughter and son-in-law, the three of them have served a total of 48 years of active or reserve and one is still serving. My daughter just got out after 24 years. Cards coming next week!
I'll be mailing out 7 cards tomorrow! Happy to have remembered to check in this thread in time. July almost passed me by! Life has been hectic lately, so I'm glad I had a bit of time to work on this month's cause.
I packaged up 25 cards tonight for the cause. I will be gone tomorrow and was in a hurry and I goofed and had them all packaged and then realized I did not have a picture of them. They are all what I call simple cards - made out of cards that we received. I purchased a pack of 25 blank cards and envelopes and used these by putting a front on them, and stamping 'Merry Christmas' inside and writing on them.
You all are amazing! What a wonderful bunch you are! Lots of cards mailed this month! You guys rock........Rita ~ That is alot of years of service! Wowza!
Wow - sorry to be so tardy in my posting, but I did mail out 5 cards (last part of July). Life's been hectic and haven't had time to let you know. Hope the cards arrived safely and thanks very much for allowing us to have a part in bringing joy to others.
