JANUARY 2018 Mission - CARDS FOR A CAUSE
2018 Cards For A Cause
January MISSION
Stamp from the Heart!
ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED: Cards From The Heart
Description of Organization: A non-profit Card Drive bringing Valentine cards to children in hospitals & foster homes, to bring a little love their way. CONTACT PERSON: Teresa - va.sunshine
Referred by: Winter Sims
TYPE OF CARDS: Valentine ONLY! NO get well or religious.
SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS: (Please read ALL the rules carefully.)
* Cards need to be a Valentine theme ONLY!
* Cards can't have anything about 'Get Well Soon', 'Feel Better', or anything reminding them of being sick. (Only Valentine Cards)
* Please make cards that can be used for any gender or age.
(This could be a little tricky, but I think you can handle it!)
* NO buttons, glitter, glitter pens, glitter glue, stickles, wink of stella, sequins, rhinestones, brads, googly eyes, or anything that looks glittery or can be pulled off and become a choking hazard. This is the hospitals rules! I know that some of the products that look glittery may seem harmless, but the hospital said NO glitter, so that's what we will do!
* Cards MUST be able to fit into a 4 1/2 X 5 3/4 envelope (A2 size, but can be smaller, just not bigger). I CANNOT use them if they are bigger! (I will provide clear envelopes for each card, so there is no need to send an envelope with your card.) The clear envelopes make it easier when they hand them out to the kids.
* You can include a message in the inside, but please remember, nothing reminding them of being sick. (Maybe just a Valentine sentiment.) You can also sign your first name and what state you are from ONLY, no last names and cities! No religious sentiments either, as most of the hospitals are non denominational in their beliefs.
* And Do Not add your blog addresses, email address, or your website to your cards! Some hospitals have rules against patients knowing who the donors are.
*I will be excepting cards for the whole month of January. (Jan. 1 - Jan. 31) I have to have them in my hands by Jan.31! Please do not send any after that, because I have to send them off early, so they will get to the hospitals in time for Valentine's Day. And please make sure you allow enough time for shipping as well.
*And Please NO smoking around the cards! You may not realize that they smell like smoke, but they do and it could effect the children who are already sick!
MAIING ADDRESS: PLEASE MAIL THEM SO THAT WINTER HAS THEM BY THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH. YOU WILL HAVE TO MAIL THEM NO LATER THAN JANUARY 25.
Winter Sims Cards From the Heart P.O. Box 754 Warren, TX 77664
GUIDELINES: Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, lets help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.
For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not. This months challenge is to be inspired by the color/mood board, see first post below. Be sure to use the keyword C4AC so that we can check out your card and comment! please read the special restrictions section carefully. Winter has been giving cards at valentines to hospitals and foster homes for many years, she and her family pull this off. They take in over 3000-4000 cards in one month...thank you for your help! With that said it is very important that we help them by following the guidelines. Please get your cards mailed out so that Winter has them by the last day of the month...this means you will have to mail them out earlier, by Jan. 25. the mail seems to be really slow now days(more online shopping I am sure)
Winter and her family have had a crisis in the past months and even through that, they have decided to go forward with the drive.

I will give it a try this month... not many Valentine stamps in my stash.
Question: Can we use our "Stamped" by and first name on the backs of our cards?

Thanks so much for featuring the Cards from the Heart card drive. I think this may be my 5" year to participate.
For those with questions, I always stamp a "happy valentine's day" sentiment on the inside and sign it "Pat from Ohio".
Check out Winter's blog at Winter Wonderland and scroll down to see the types of cards she needs. They can be really cute without shiny stuff! And yes, that's difficult for me, too!!!
I am in with this. Was trying to get some made ahead of time and used a glitter pen on some of them. That was a no no, so I redid them without the glitter pen.

I haven't made many cards for quite a long time and then I started back up again about 2 months ago. I take care of my 88 yr old mother so sometimes I don't have much time.
Today is Martin Luther King Day. I heard one of his children speaking on TV a few days ago and reminding us that today is not just a holiday to celebrate with a barbecue or have a day off work to do nothing. It is a day of service and a day of remembrance. He asked everyone to try to do something for some one else today, no matter how big or small the act of helping someone else.
I remembered this Cards for a Cause that I had donated to quite a while back.
Today I am going to make some cards and package up with some I have already made and send for this cause.

I mailed 16 cards this morning. I wish it could have been more but time has been a little tight. I wanted to mail them so they would get there in time. Next month I hope to contribute more.
