I saw this demonstrated at a scrapbooking expo, and it cried out, "Take me home!" It is pretty awesome to be able to do eyelets so quickly and without a hammer!
I went to the Expo today too !! I was a bit disappointed in it this year compared to last year I saw these demo'd and was almost going to get a set did you get one?? Bonnie P
Yes, I got the Scrapbookers set. I had fun playing with it yesterday afternoon. I haven't tried putting holes in things other than paper yet . . . such as leather,acetate, etc. . . . but I think it will work great!
I am also from Elmira, NY!!! I'm guessing it was the Syracuse expo that you also went to. I didn't go last year, but people were saying that there were twice as many vendors this year which is why the show was moved to the fairgrounds. I'm curious as to why you thought last year's was better.
I bought one of these at the convention I went ot in Las Vegas this past April. It was made by a different company http://www.readysettools.com
and it cost about $50 bucks for the tool and the mat. I was hesitant because of teh price but hubby bought it for me.
It was the best $50 dollars I have ever spent! This thing punches holes through anything, anywhere. It took a few tries to get used to it and get the feel for how it worked. I even had to call them up when I returned home for further instruction. Everyone there was so nice and helpful.
WHATEVER YOU DO> Do not take it as a carry on item on the plane. I almost missed my flight because of it. They were going to keep it and after $50 bucks I refused and made them find my luggage so it could be packed- was quite a nightmare!
If you have the money to buy this, you wont be disappointed!
Hi Cathy! I checked out the site you posted and couldn't really figure out how it worked just by looking at the picture. Was really curious though.
Have you ever tried to set eyellets with a hand held punch??
That's the method I use. You punch your hole with the 1/8 hole punch and then put your eyelt into the hole, flip it over and then use your 1/16 hole punch to set it - VOILA! It's as easy as pie, however it only works on the SU eyelets. Non SU eyelets seem to be made from a heavier metal and don't work using this method. Anyway I thought I'd share in case anyone was interested. I haven't used the hammer for eyelets in over a year!

Of course, the hole punch trick only works if you want to set eyelets near the edge of the paper. I've been thinking about getting an eyelet setter for when I want to put eyelets in the middle of the page...

I have a pair of eyelet-setting pliers that I bought off of eBay -- my only gripe is that the setting pin is a bit large for the opening in SU! eyelets and I have to work them off, which occasionally damages the lacquer finish that colors the eyelet. It works without a hitch on my non-SU! eyelets, though.
I was at the same Rubber Stamp Round Up in Las Vegas as Gina (I live there!) We probably saw each other and didn't even know it!!! I bought the eyelet setter from Ready Set Tools also. I LOVE it! I thought it was a little pricey as well, but feel it was well worth the $$ I spent. Everyone that tries it out wants one. And, it comes in cute colors!
Let me know if it works well for you. I was just getting ready to spring for the eyelet setter with SU, but after borrowing it from my upline, I didn't really like the flimsy feel to the hammer and how the paper got stuck in the hole puncher. Someone told me SU may be redoing their eyelet setting kit. Guess I'll just have to hold out a few more weeks to find out. :lol:

SHARON :shock: We could have met! I wish I knew you 2 months ago The convention was good I did teh STampin up booth make and takes and was a little upset with the lines and how time conuming it was but....(caused me to miss a lot of the convention)
My favorite Vegas stamp store. Las Vegas Art Stamps! OMG I bought so much stuff I think the owner could retire! Went to stamp oasis- eh it was ok. Went to a 24 hr stamp stire and it was too seedy for me so I didn't even go inside...
Oh I am so jealous you libe in one of my favorite places in the world. I come out every 6 months.... We must get together next time round!!!
Oh, Gina - please call me next time you come to Vegas!! That would be fun! I also love Las Vegas Art Stamps, but have to stay away - it is as addicting as SCS!!!
Click on Scrapbooking tools. I bought the scrapbooking Assortment. Which has 3 tools for setting both the small and bigger eyelets. I paid $30 for mine, and I love it!!
I am with ginapier....bought mine from readysettools and it was the best 45-50 bucks I have spent.Splits those eyelets like a flower every time.This tool does make noise , have heard you can use it on a pillow to muffle it but haven't tried it yet.Heavy duty and seems very durable...judy
