Pocket Front Card
by Dina Kowal
Fold up the corners of your card front to create a pocket.
Supplies
- Cardstock
- Scoring tool
- Pencil and ruler
- Scissors or trimmer
- Washi tape
- Patterned paper
- Acetate strips (optional)
- Adhesive (Bearly Art Glue and Loctite Super Glue Gel used here)
- Other supplies as needed to complete the project (used here: Impression Obsession dies (DIE1055-Y Sitting Gnome, DIE038-J Grass, DIE1049-X Flowers and Leaves, DIE1058-ZZ Stitched Tag #5, DIE135-F Heart Set), B12339 Little Things)
Step-by-Step
-
Step 1
Score a half sheet of cardstock (5 1/2" x 8 1/2") at 4 1/4” on the long side.
-
Step 2
Turn the panel over. Mark with a pencil at 2 3/4" on both long sides.
-
Rotate the panel a quarter turn to the right. Mark the center of this short side at 2 3/4".
-
Step 3
Align the center mark with one of the side marks. Score.
-
Rotate the panel to align the center mark with the other side mark. Score.
-
Step 4
Turn the panel back over. Fold on the two diagonal score lines so that the edges meet at the center of the card. Burnish the folds.
-
Fold the card in half.
-
Step 5
Use a small piece of washi tape to hold the pocket together.
-
Step 6
Cut a 3 1/2" square of patterned paper, then cut across from corner to corner to create 2 triangles.
-
Adhere one triangle to the front of the pocket to hide the seam. It can be centered or aligned with the top. Save the other half!
-
Step 7
Fill the pocket with embellishments however you like! Be careful not to glue the pocket shut before you’re done adding all your elements.
-
Step 8
You can add some floating elements to the pocket – glue them to narrow strips of acetate. Super glue works best for this.
-
-
Step 9
Cut the remaining paper triangle in half.
-
The pieces fit perfectly in the corners!
-
Step 10
Complete the project.
