Pine Cone Ornament

Create a pine cone ornament by adding folded paper to a styrofoam egg.

Supplies

  • One 12" x 12" sheet of Patterned Paper

  • Paper Cutter

  • One Styrofoam Egg

  • Pins

  • Hot Glue Gun

  • Ribbon

  • Embellishments

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

    Cut the patterned paper in to 1" strips.

  2. Step 2

    Cut each strip into 1" x 1 1/4" rectangles.

  3. Step 3

    Fold over each rectangle to form a point.

  4. Step 4

    Start at the bottom of the egg (the skinny end) and pin a folded paper.

  5. Step 5

    Keep pinning paper up to the wider part of the egg as you go.

  6. Continue pinning folded paper pieces until you covered the egg.

  7. Step 6

    Cut ribbon to around 9 inches.

  8. Step 7

    Pin ribbon to the egg.

  9. Step 8

    Add decorative embellishments with hot glue, such as pearls, beads, leaves, ribbons.

  10. Step 9

    Hang and enjoy year-round!
