by Beate Johns
Mix Lumiere® and Pearl Ex® with a bit of water to make this shiny background.
Supplies
- Water
- Lumiere®
- Pearl Ex®
- Stipple brush
- StazOn® or other waterproof ink
- Container for mixing (here clean meat tray)
- Spoon or something for stirring
- Glossy cardstock
Step-by-Step
-
Step 1
Pour some Lumiere™ into the mixing container.
-
Step 2
Add an equal amount of water to the container.
-
Step 3
Stir to mix water and Lumiere™. If it's too thin, add more Lumiere™.
-
Step 4
Add Pearl Ex™ to the mixture.
TIP: Separate the mixture in a palette so you can mix with different Pearl Ex™ colors.
-
Step 5
Stir mixture until the Pearl Ex™ dissolves and there are no lumps.
.
-
Step 6
Use a stipple brush to apply mixture to glossy cardstock.
.
-
Step 7
Cover the entire piece of cardstock with the mixture, then let dry.
Now's a good time to rinse out the stipple brush so the mixture won't dry on it.

Double-up
After you apply the mixture onto your cardstock with your stipple brush, wait until it is almost dry. Then dip a flat watercolor brush into a different color Pearl Ex and brush it over your cardstock.
