I think for your first time, you've done a great job. Your stone walk looks really nice! It may be the paper that's problematic. I personally don't care for White Naturals for watercoloring. Try Georgia-Pacific white from Walmart or even better, try a hot press watercolor paper from Michaels or an art store. After you stamp your image, take a water color brush and lightly wet the whole paper. After it's dry, then apply the water color. You have to be careful not to overwork the paper or the colors will start to get muddy. With watercolor, usually less is more. Unless you're purposely working wet-into-wet, let each color dry before applying another color (you can always use your heat gun to speed it along). Don't give up and keep practicing and studying the colored label for guidance! Remember the key to painting is the contrast of light and dark; and warm vs. cool colors. Look to see where highlights should be and where shadows should be. Can't wait to see your next one!

THANK YOU! Looking closer at the house, I realize I didn't paint the bushes so I am going to make it a little bit darker (the house area) and do the bushes near the corner of the hosue as well. I think that will help seperate the two better.
