WOW! It’s me, her badness, Sherry Cheever, also known as BadSherry here on SCS. I can’t begin to tell you how surprised I was to get Julie’s PM. I first thought “Oh good, Julie’s finally sending me that recipe for the homemade Bailey’s I asked for.” But then, I saw that it wasn’t the recipe! When I saw that the message said Confidential – my chest started pounding and my hands shook. I stood up, my knees went to rubber and I sat back down. For the first time in weeks, the entire family was at home all at the same time, watching television together. After a brief family meeting, I answered Julie’s PM with a resounding YES! I am so honored and excited to be a member of the Dirty Dozen Design Team! It’s a dream come true to be able to stamp along side such truly creative and talented girls!
I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, but now call Jeffersonville, Indiana home. Even though weÂ’ve moved around some, weÂ’ve settled here on the Sunnyside of Louisville to raise our family and to be close to my family. IÂ’ve been married to my husband, Lance, for 28 years and we have two beautiful daughters, 21 and 18, both of whom still live at home. My passions are my family, stamping, golfing, reading, automobile racing, gardening and just hanging with my girlfriends. Truthfully, youÂ’ll probably find me on the golf course two to three times a week. ItÂ’s the only place I know of where you can still legally drink and drive!
I have always had a passion for sports and art. When it was time to head off to college, my parents thought the most sensible thing for me was to major in physical education and minor in art. I wanted to coach, but I also wanted to teach art. Unfortunately, those dreams never materialized, but I have continued to dabble in arts and crafts over the years.
When I first stumbled upon SCS, I had not been stamping all that long. I bought my first stamps in 1997 at a StampinÂ’ Up Workshop. I stamped a few cards and things for my daughters but never truly was inspired to do much else. I moved my supplies to the basement and there they sat gathering dust for close to five years. I had started to make shadowboxes for my girlfriends, cross-stitching quirky sayings and adding some 3-D objects, and the more my friends showed them off, the more people wanted them. I had been asked to make four as Christmas presents and was looking for a way to add more color and bling when I thought about those long forgotten stamps. I started stamping the quotes, adding a little background, doing some embossing and soon realized that I was going to need some more supplies. A good friend was a StampinÂ’ Up! Demo, and I called her and said please help! It didnÂ’t take long for me to become a demo myself! Those same friends who introduced me to stamping years ago recommended SCS as a great place to get ideas. So one day I ventured in just to look around. I hadnÂ’t made a card in years and was just blown away by the talent and creativeness that I saw. One day while browsing through the forums, I quite by accident, found the challenges. Needless to say, it was instant addiction.
The talent on this site is overwhelming and I am in awe every day! I have been inspired by so many and learned so much. I have also become friends with stampers from around the world. What a wonderful place SCS is, and I am so honored to be a part of the SCS community and the Design Team. I look forward to the challenges and inspiration that we all share!
